On 8 January 2022, I purchased a " Rest Assured " Ruby Mattress and Base set. First of all I was told that delivery would be early the following week, but was only delivered after I had Phoned to ask where my bed was. During the following week the bed started to make a lot of noise when someone lay on it. I phoned Hugh Mathie Beds and was told someone would come see the bed. Nobody came and the noise got worse, so I phoned and asked to speak to Hugh Mathie. He wasn't available and neither did he return my call. After another 2 calls and no response from Mathie, a representative from Rest Assured came to look at the bed. He confirmed that the noise was coming from the base and he would contact HMathie. After a week I made numerous calls to speak to Mathie, he eventually phoned back and said that person who came out was from the wrong factory and that my base was not from Rest Assured but from some other factory. This was on the 3 February and Mathie said that he would get the maker of the base to come and see what is wrong, up until today 17 Feb I have not had any response from said factory nor from Mathie, It is shocking that the owner of the shop where I purchased the bed cannot return calls made to him nor does he come out to inspect the bed himself. He just seems to supply inferior quality furniture neither doer the factory that any interest in the problem.

Ordered king size mattress. Mattress arrived and it was too narrow. Base which is the correct width stuck out sides. 2nd matress arrived with same problem. If they cant even make a mattress to the correct width, it makes me wonder what the inside are like. Still awaiting mattress number 3!

We purchased a bed in 2017 from their Kloof store and let me tell you we have had problems ever since.the base broke and we took the bed back only for them to tell us is woodborer and they saying we purchased it in 2014,now I can read and the receipt says 2017.now we have wooden floors and no woodborer anywhere else. When we spoke to Hugh himself he said that they don't carry the quarentee and we need to call the factory. I didn't purchase bed from the factory I was told that they Hugh Mathie carries the 2 year gaurentee. They are refusing to own up and replace the bed.Terrible service.People are rude as hell.First time we bought from them and we will never go back!

During December 2011 we bought a Dream Cloud Bed from Hugh Mathie Beds. A few months later we have relocated to White River MP during which we lost our proof of the cash purchase. For the past few months we experiences a lot of trouble with the bed and when I didn't know what to do anymore I turned to them for assistance in lodging a complaint. On 4/1/16 I wrote them a mail to enquire about it, after three days with no reply I called them and the lady who answered explained to me, that eventhough the owner did give her my email they awaited the Manufacturer to re open and assist them with a rep in my area. No communication from their side!!!! I agreed to wait until then. 29/3/16 Almost three months after my first email I wrote to them again and up until now, still no reply!!!! I tried to make my dismay clear on their FB Page, but don't think that will be allowed publicly by the owner. Please Hello Peter, help me to get this sorted out, sleeping is pure agony for us!!!

I bought a mattress from Hugh Mathie in Kloof and had it delivered Thursday (25.02.2016). The mattress was so much softer than the bed we lay on in the store and has no side support and I was disturbed all night by every movement my husband makes. After the first night we complained and our complaint was referred back to the factory who got someone out to test the mattress yesterday, obviously nothing wrong. The cant and wont take the mattress back.
We are very unhappy with our purchase and keep getting told that it is our comfort problem. The sales lady keeps referring me to the factory that makes the beds and the factory refers me to the shop.
Is this not against the customer protection act? What about the 7day cooling off period.
Very disappointed and would like to warn all about to buy a new bed to stick to well established brands.

Over a 2 months ago we bought and expensive king size mattress and bases from Hugh Mathie Beds in Durban North. When we started sleeping on the bed and I noticed that it felt as if I was going to roll off the side of the bed due to it being softer (lower) than towards the middle of the bed. The base set also squeaked on my side. I thought perhaps it was just that I needed to get used to the new bed. After 2 weeks I let Hugh know about the defect. Hugh sent the mattress people by and they said there was nothing wrong with the mattress. The strange thing is that the loan mattress also did the same but also on my hubbies side too. Hugh has also organised to send the base people to come by. We feel that someone from Hugh Mattie Beds need to come and have a look at the base and the mattress and advise where the problem The worst is that Hugh keeps insinuating that we are making this up. Really!! I don't have the time to make up problems that take time to resolve. Mr Mathie, if you are the bedding expert as you claim, how come when I asked you to come and see the bed yourself you don't want to come. I wish we never bought from you!
