Impossible to reach ANYONE at Ilembe. They simply do not answer telephones. Only Reception answers - but NOT 1 of 12 different numbers she provided is answered. Also no response at the only email address available for Ilembe (website). Small Wonder Ilembe is bankrupt.

If I could give no stars I would. Our district has been without water for 8 days. The technician informed us there were major breaks and leaks, I wonder why? Needles to say they informed us it would be repaired by the 17 March 2023 at 21:00 and guess what still no water. So numerous residents contacted the Ward Counselors and Mayor and we all got the same Excuse "Airlock" that was at 15:48 the 18 March 2023. So at around 18:00 we tried contacting the ward counselor as well as the Mayor and technician now everyone isn't answering their phones. They need to do their jobs or find someone who can. I definitely know who I won't be voting for.

I live in Zinkwazi beach, in the district of Illembe Kwadakuza. For the past few months we have had little or no domestic water supply. Since the beginning of November this unsatisfactory situation has excalated to virtually no water, infact since early December we have been with out water apart from one day 13 December. No real reason has been given for this desperate situation. infact the department responsible do not answer the phone, clearly avoiding the scorn of the members of our community.

An independant and brief survey, undertaken by a retired local engineer revealed several massive water leaks, old and usless pumps (water to Zinkwazi is supplied via boreholes), and electrical wiring that does not conform to national standards, which constantly causes the power to cut out.

Clearly our 'public servants' at Illembe have been less than effective in the management of this resource and now as an emergency measure have dispatched water tankers in a vain effort to ease a appauling situation. As a beach community we have many visitors at this time of the year, many of these have had to either cancelled their accomodation and holiday booking or find other accomodation in the nearby towns such as Ballito. owners of these bed&breakfast, and smaller hotel establishments are loosing their livelyhood as a result. Public beaches with toilet facilities have not had a water supply during this time which is obviously creating a serious environmental and health hazzard.

Even now as we approach Christmas there is no evidence that the situation will improve. So I would like to wish all responsible at Illembe water every misery that we are are continuing to experience for the holidays.

My dad passed away in 2000. Sometime this year the municipal change water mitres to prepaid and when they do that they cut off water supply to my home. Since February this year we leave in a house without water. I thought water was a basic need in South Africa... 10 months without water we always ask our neighbours for water they are tired of us now.. both parents passed away and we cannot afford to pay what is owed to the municipality an indigent forms were submitted to the municipality offices at kwagcaleka Mandeni and the lady that works there refuse to take the forms because we didnt specify how are we surving my question is do i need to write that i live with dating old men? Water is a basic need and one cannot live without.
