Totally Disappointed
Worst dining experience I have ever had. We Chose Jakes to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday because of its great reviews and as child it was her great grandfather's favourite restaurant, so for her it was also very nostalgic and close to her heart. We booked a table for 20 pax for yesterday evening the 13 March 2025 on arrival we asked if we could join the tables and create an L shape so that we could all be together, it took about 15min of discussion with the waiter to convince her what was required. took our drinks menu after about 10 min (which is fine) but then the drinks took forever to arrive at the table i personally had to reorder my beverage twice. The food order from the time we ordered until it arrived at our table took what seemed to be forever it was over an hour and that's being conservative. We brought a beautiful cake with for my daughter we were never informed up until payment that they would charge us R15 per slice (cake fee) on top of our almost R7000 rand bill. the waitresses could have informed us prior but instead they brought us a cake knife, side plates and s****s. The food was also nothing to rave about when everyone eventually got their food everyone was starving that no one bothered to complain. To be honest it was very disappointed with whole experience. Jakes Do better!

Shocking
I have always loved Jakes and it’s been a local for me … until last night. When we got the bill, we discovered extra items had been added (twice) and the same had been done to the table next to us. The waiter and Manager’s responses and handling of the situation was very unprofessional and poor, and made me think this is normal operating practice, especially where patrons are ordering multiple beverages. I will no longer support Jakes and highly recommend you thoroughly check your bill before paying and handing over your hard-earned money.

I have always loved Jakes and it’s been a local for me … until last night. When we got the bill, we discovered extra items had been added (twice) and the same had been done to the table next to us. The waiter and Manager’s responses and handling of the situation was very unprofessional and poor, and made me think this is normal operating practice, especially where patrons are ordering multiple beverages. I will no longer support Jakes and highly recommend you thoroughly check your bill before paying and handing over your hard-earned money.

Fantastic ambiance and setting of a restaurant that I happen to visit for the first time with colleagues. The rest of the group ordered meat dishes and I did ask for recommendation from the waiter on which vegetarian meal should I order, which I ordered for dinner. When the poke bawl arrived the bowl was soaked with the juice from the beetroot, which was tasteless, soggy and out of a jar. I could not eat the beetroot or finish the meal because of that. Poke bowls are usually full only of fresh ingredients and not preserves and the the worst of all was that once I provided the feedback to the waiter I had the manager rushing in telling me that I was wrong about the beetroot and that it was fresh despite the fact that some of my company did try and they confirmed that this certainly did not taste like a fresh beetroot. What a wasted opportunity to make it right by a customer instead of implying that the customer is untruthful.
