MC Maintenance - DONT USE - THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF
We engaged MC Maintenance Services for end-of-tenancy maintenance and painting work at our home. The experience was extremely unprofessional from start to finish. The owner, Jan, inspected the property on 2 October 2025, and we received the formal quote only weeks later. We paid the full deposit the evening before the scheduled job (13 October), but when my wife followed up the next day, the office claimed there was “no booking.” She had already taken leave for the 14th and 15th based on their prior confirmation. The work was eventually delayed to 21–22 October, wasting time and causing unnecessary stress. When the team finally arrived, the quality of work was poor and incomplete. The carpets were left dirty, incorrect bulbs installed, and the quoted toilet holder not replaced. Despite paying for 20L of paint, only a fraction was used, and the balance was not left behind. Repeated attempts to resolve the matter were ignored until we received a rude WhatsApp message from Jan stating, “Get someone else to sort it out,” refusing to complete the work unless we paid the outstanding invoice. MC Maintenance Services failed to deliver what was agreed upon and showed a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. I would strongly advise others to avoid them.

Despicable Company taking advantage
I would like to start off by stating that this company is despicable. Their underhanded techniques to secure jobs is daylight *******. I requested a quote from Jan at MC Maintenance three weeks before moving into my new residence. I had heard of this company through top Managing Agents that use this company as one of their preferred contractors. I needed to put up a fence/enclosure for my pets before moving in. One would think three weeks is enough time for this small project... The first red flag - They did not send me a quote for the work that i requested until the week i was moving in. I had to follow up a number of times for the quote and confirmation that the job can be done before I moved in. Once I received the quote, I immediately approved it, paid the deposit and asked them to urgently have this done by the time i move in. ( I was told by Jan that the project would take 2 days). The second red flag - After 2 days on site, the job was on 50% done. At this point I already feel deceived because the job was taking longer than agreed upon. The third red flag - After 2 days on site, I was sent a quote for an item that I already thought was included in the initial quote. At this point im thinking this company ****/deceived/mislead me on duration and costs just to get the job awarded to them. The fourth red flag - The owner of the business Jan did not call for more than a week despite several requests to his staff and administrators. Jan could not take the time to explain the additional quote or the extended duration of the project. The fifth red flag - As a justifiably upset client, the owner could not take 2 minutes to call me and then when i express my frustration, the owner, JAN, had his guys removed from site without having completed the job, despite being paid for the original quote and the additional quote. While legal action is being taken from my side, people need to be warned about this company and its unjust business practices. Trustees / Home Owners / Directors take caution before having dealings with this company.

Please do not make use of this company. They do not take responsibility for any jobs they are tasked with. They do not communicate, they do not arrive when promised, and do not complete the jobs they are tasked with. Most recently. 1. Could not fix my garage door. 2. Installed an electric fence which is not operational 3. Even failed to complete a painting job Please also checkout their FB page and see for yourself how arrogant Jan is in his responses to his clients.

MC Maintenance and Its owner ( Jan Oosthuizen ) does not take responsibility for its Work Done. They Installed a Solar Geyser ... which Did not work from the Beginning. The Panel was installed on the Incorrect side and Pump was not even Connected. A report was provided by an Independant Contractor and I tried to resolve by Calling and Meeting with the Owner ... with No Courtesy to respond or call and Pitch up for the Meeting . Absolutely Disappointing Service from MC Maintenance

Contractor fails to perform - will not return property - dodges calls and responsibility
Jan has taken our complex's intercom speaker for repair and has subsequently disappeared. The ordeal has been dragging on for months. He initially agreed on two separate occasions with 2 separate trustees to come to the complex and re-install the repaired intercom speaker but did not show up to either meeting, did not answer his phone, still to this day after more than 30 calls does not answer his phone. He has greatly inconvenienced us, is highly unprofessional and uncooperative and should not be trusted with one's propery. Please do yourself a favour and do not utilise his services, it will prevent a lot of stress, headaches and frustration.

Jan has taken our complex's intercom speaker for repair and has subsequently disappeared. The ordeal has been dragging on for months. He initially agreed on two separate occasions with 2 separate trustees to come to the complex and re-install the repaired intercom speaker but did not show up to either meeting, did not answer his phone, still to this day after more than 30 calls does not answer his phone. He has greatly inconvenienced us, is highly unprofessional and uncooperative and should not be trusted with one's propery. Please do yourself a favour and do not utilise his services, it will prevent a lot of stress, headaches and frustration.

MC Maintenance Johannesburg is a sham!
We have just bought a house where MC Maintenance did major plumbing work to the sewerage system leading from our front door to the street. The work was not done correctly and the pipe was not laid correctly. With the ensuing rains, the pathway under which the pipe was laid, collapsed. The owner of the company, Jan Ooshtuizen, came out to assess the damage and then commenced to dig up the pipe, and attempt repairs, and then left, never to be seen again. Leaving our newly laid paving and front entrance in a state! We cannot get hold of him, nor can the transferring attorney. His website advertises the company as being a team of 32 employees, highly s****ed in various fields, this is not the case. Do not allow this man to work on your home. We have had a reputable plumber in to quote on the repair work to be done and it will cost us R28 K.
