Mogale City Municipality - Frustrating Refund Process Since Jan 2024, I've been trying to get a refund for previous property rates from Mogale City Municipality. Despite submitting all required documents, I've been sent from pillar to post with no resolution. It's frustrating and feels like a never-ending loop. - Details: - Started process: Jan 2024 - Documents submitted: Multiple times - Outcome: No refund, no clear resolution - Request: Please help escalate my issue. I want a refund and an explanation for the delay.

For the past two decades, I have endured persistent and unjustified harassment from Mogale City Municipality. This ordeal began after my brief six-month tenancy at a property, during which I diligently fulfilled all my financial obligations, including paying a deposit and settling my account every month. Despite fulfilling my responsibilities as a tenant, the municipality failed to refund my deposit upon my departure. Instead, years later, I continue to receive emails alleging that I owe them money. What is most distressing is the ongoing harassment that has continued for 20 years. Despite no legitimate debt being owed, I have been repeatedly contacted via email by Mogale City Municipality, alleging outstanding balances. These communications have been a source of undue stress and inconvenience, especially considering the clear evidence that all dues were settled and that the municipality owes me a refund, not the other way around.

The electrical department of Mogale City has done an injustice to the people living in a complex called Prestige Mews. We have app**** and are still waiting for pre paid electricity for rge past 6 months. We have on numerous occasions reported to the Council in there officed to be either ignored or dodged on purpose. Kept waiting like fools. We .. some of us older than 70.. waiting for hours while they hide from us. What a disgrace to people that are supposed to provide service to people that religiously support this Council by paying rates and taxes for over 40 some more than 50 years. Common on Mogale City look after rge people that have supported and looked after you for many many years. From a concerned rate payer.

Electricity meters were replaced in Rangeview in 2024. December 2024 we noticed discrepancies with our bill and started a 6 month journey trying to resolve it. We went from being 27k in credit to owing over R50k. After numerous Whatsapp messages and emails we got nowhere. It was only after a 2 hour visit to their offices, were we had to tell them what was wrong, that it got resolved. Then there was the problem with the massive increase in our alleged consumption. We went from around 600 kWh in summer and 1000 kWh in winter to 2700 kWh this past winter and 2000 kWh this summer. This causes us to go into the "block 4" billing rannge where you pay double the normal rate per kWh! After stating the problem with photos on the Whatsapp channel, we were given an email contact. Turns out this person was in the accounts department. Not the problem. Further communication/explanation on the Whatsapp channel now simply get ignored. Emails to the "customer care" address simply get ignored. So now due to their incompetence or *******ion we have to foot R16k bills every other month. That is 4 times what the bond on this property used to be. My monthly repayments on 2 vehicles don't even cost nearly that much! It is also more than the average person in this country earns. Now you tell me where the hell I am supposed to get that kind of money from every month.
