I'm an entrepreneur based in the Vaal. I app**** online for the agencies funding opportunities but as per their process, one has to enroll for a Business Management Training course as part of the requirements of the agency. I called the branch in our area Vaal, Residensia office but I was told that I'd be put on the list to be registered for their BMT programme & this was at the beginning of the year right after they'd just been back at the office for the new year, they took my details & never got back to me to date. As someone who wants to be a part of the men & women who want to contribute to the community and economy, it's disheartening to have received such poor service from the said public service providers for people who want to create employment and uplift their communities, these agencies treat us like they're doing us a favour by even letting us have these opportunities. Vaal is already a hive for *******ion and as an earnest business person, it's very disappointing to have to find yourself at the mercy of the very institutions that were meant to aid us who want to change the landscape of our backgrounds and that of others through employment and empowering the community. The service at these agencies is not swift and appropriate gusto, necessary to help people & in so saying "agencies", id like to mention that SEDFA is also part of this review. I submitted my application online with all the required documents but I received a call saying that I'm not funding-ready, to my surprise, their online system did not necessarily reflect my entire application as far the documents are involved, this was a technical error on their side but I was told that they'd only received my business profile & they dismissed the notion of asking me to submit the rest of the documents via email, instead I was told that I was not finding ready. It's very disappointing that the people employed to handle these processes lack such discernment and professional conduct, we come from different backgrounds including academically and some more than others lack information on how these agencies work & how the processes go. As entrepreneurs, we work hard to make a positive change to the country and I believe it would be a great time to introduce an ombudsman to help entrepreneurs who seek funding to voice their struggles with these agencies and hold them accountable, including making necessary structural shifts in order to maintain the dignity of the vision by the government to help entrepreneurs in a fair & transparent manner. The establishment of this ombudsman will come at a great time before the implementation of the R20 billion transformation, in order to curb any *******ion and Maladministration of the funds & that of any other agency that's there to help entrepreneurs.

I app**** last year, I completed the pre assessment phase 2024/06/07, all my documents were submitted but they took so long they had to keep asking me to update them,I completed all the forms they sent me to their specs and to this day I have not received anything from them, how are they supposed to help the youth start and grow businesses if it's take nearly a year for me just to get an update as to when they will send me the things I need to grow my business, I have now not been able to start for as long as I have been waiting for them.

Hi Peter, early this year I went to nyda to ask for business funding and they made me fill in my information, and I was promised that they were gonna buy the machine I need attend some of their business classes. They sent me wrongs dates with wrong training purposes twice if not three times. Up until now, they never communicated a go ahead, so I concluded to say their company use us( business owners) to source funds from wherever the fund is been processed, using our details to add on their statistics when they doing nothing at all. I would like if the government can investigate their practices& how they conduct business cus they probably in ***** schemes, using people's info to pretend as if they're helping them while wasting our time & transport, worse they give us false hope. Regards C

Since August the 8th and the whole of the month of July 2024 . We as the supposed youth felt that in SA we all are treated as equal and that we all have the freedom of speech .But sadly I have sent an email to this department with a dispute/ complaint about unfairness of a skills programme.this programme has favoured to advance BLACK ONLY candidates for a business funding. Since the emails have been sent no one has rep**** aside from the Soo called whistleblowers team that excluded themselves front the query as they rep**** and said, "They don't work for NYDA anymore "? So out of a class of. 60 individuals the only two coloured candidates are rejected funding and no one has rep**** or cares. It has been escalated to the presidency office as they are in charge of the department but still to no avail .it is told that we should base this at race ,but how does one explain the above .#colouredpeoplessocioeconomicissuesalsomatter

Worst place for any young person who owns a business to try for funding. It's an extremely complicated and lengthy process with trainers that treat applicants like they're children. No regard is given for personal schedules, inadequate information is given about classes concerning SYB workshop classes. It's so sad that applying for state funding is more complicated than applying for private funding. NYDA SYB trainers make it close to impossible to obtain a certificate that qualifies you to apply for funding. What a waste of my time and resources. 5 days spent on nothing! This happened at NYDA Mafatsane branch in Vereeniging.

I’ve had the worst experience with them. How are they supposed to help the youth when their Kempton Park offices don’t even pick up the phone. I signed up for their BMT training in August and it’s November now and I have not received a confirmation nor response. They keep telling me via email that theirs a long list and I should wait yet their website says it takes 2 months to receive a response. They are a disappointment and fail young entrepreneurs .
