This restaurant is a firm favourite. The ambience is cosy and welcoming and the staff are always attentive and friendly. We had a delicious lunch at a very reasonable price. Consistently good.

I recently visited Oblivion Bar & Kitchen in Cape Town and unfortunately, my experience was not great. Here are the reasons why I am giving it a 2/5 star rating: Pros: The restaurant has a funky and friendly European-style atmosphere They have a rooftop deck, comfortable couches, and fireplaces Cons: The service was not great The pricing of soft drinks was ridiculously expensive The food was not mentioned in any of the search results, which is concerning Overall, I would not recommend Oblivion Bar & Kitchen based on my experience. The poor service and expensive soft drinks outweigh the positive atmosphere.

My daughter booked 2 weeks in advance for her 21st. Was told to email Tracey which she did. In the email she requested the lounge area and was told that we needed to pay a deposit or we could pay for the champagne in advance. She then confirmed the number and waited to hear what the total cost would be. Waited a couple of days and email her No reply. I phoned the restaurant twice asking for her to phone me back. Nothing. 2 days before the event which was on Father’s Day she confirmed the price and indicated that someone else had booked the lounge. We were very angry as it was not our fault that we did not pay the deposit in time. Nevertheless we went ahead with the venue. Placed all our orders by Friday. On the day of the occasion, they started pouring the champagne in water glasses saying that they did not have enough flute stems. We made a fuss and low and behold enough flute stems where found. After the occasion I found out that there was not enough non-alcoholic champagne and the few patrons were giving water. The steak they got wrong and when the one patron complained that hers was overcooked they apologized and said that they had no more steak and had to give her another meal. I WILL NEVER OUT MY FOOT IN THAT ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN.

Stay away from this place - dodgy exploitation. They offer trial periods with promises of permanent employment but don't fulfil their agreement regardless of whether they're happy with your work. They don't issue payslips showing UIF, tax deductions, or leave due. They say no one has leave due. If you're sick and you provide a doctor's note - you don't get paid for the time off sick. You work 6 days a week, 8 hours a day with no breaks if the restaurant is busy. No transport arrangements for staff after closure at 11:30pm (or monies provided for transport). No staff meals allowed. Certain staff have had their salary withheld if it's known that person wants to leave. Staff are scared of being victmised by the owner Tracey Burke or fired if they protest.

To OBLIVION Management & Staff! On calling Oblivion a very well-spoken gentleman, Eugene answered, I assume the receptionist was busy, taking my reservation for our year-end party. Confirming it. My boss was very impressed with the service given by the waitress. No long delays with the food order. Checking up on service required while we were eating! WOW! The seating was amazing. At first, I requested window seating for 6 on the Deck, however many of them were short, and on request to a lower table seating, we were accommodated with a smile. Thank you, Manager! Well done to service delivery, friendliness, helpfulness, and over and above that making our year-end lunch a memorable day! The food was Great! The waitress was Awesome! Neat, clean, attentive, and friendly! " Thank you, Eugene for your friendliness over the phone, helpfulness with the reservation booking, making our year-end lunch at Oblivion wonderful. The hospitality and services given to us patrons were amazing! It was a pleasure to sit back, relax, and enjoy the foods served! Thank you Tracey for the service booking confirmation.'' I will recommend OBLIVION! We will surely come again! THANK YOU OBLIVION STAFF!"

On the 13th November, myself and friends had booked a table. I understand that if you are running late , you must call which I had done 2 hours before arriving. When arrived we were welcomed nicely by the hostess but going upstairs,no direction was given to wherest sit. I asked for the Manager and he bluntly cut me off while I was talking and didn't even bother to make a plan which is not ok because myself and friends seated ourselves by a very kind gentleman that had told us we can sit down because he is leaving. All I can say the matter could of been solved in a better manner.

I think communication between hosts/waiters are important. Waiter A serves me , its 18h45 and I'm aware that the half price on ****tail ends at 19h00 . I ask the waiter if I could please get the special but have my second ****tail later the evening...he agress and waiter B then bring ****tail one ... moments later waiter B tells me I didnt make it in time and waiter A didnt inform him about anything. He tells me that he will try and find the person who served me....its been 20min and Im still waiting , typing this experience out on my pad ...what turned out to be chilled sunset has now turned into an awkward wait and a customer feeling neglected because no one cares about her simple bill... its been a hectic Monday and because I had been here the Sunday , I thought I could be a potencial regular but this experience has just put a damper on my perspective ....its going on to 30 min and still no one has clarified what I ordered, but then I just a mere customer compared to the other full tables ranking up their bills :) ... thank you Obilivion.
