Concerned Parent Seeks Clarity on Oceans Private School, Midrand Campus As a parent of three kids attending Oceans Private School, Midrand Campus, I became concerned after reading some negative reviews on social media. Since I hadn't been invited to parents' meetings in a while, I decided to visit the school to get clarity on what I had been reading. I raised the following concerns: 1. Is the school registered with the Department of Education? 2. Are the teachers qualified? 3. Do you have teachers for all classes? 4. Why are you not calling for parents' meetings? Management's Response The management answered my questions satisfactorily, and I learned several things I wasn't aware of. - *Registration*: The school is registered with the Gauteng Department of Education. They showed me the registration certificates displayed in the reception area. - *Accreditation*: They're in the final stages of getting a center number with Umalusi. - *Matric exams*: Matric learners have been writing exams at a designated center provided by the Department of Education. From next year, learners will write exams on campus. - *Teacher qualifications*: Teachers are qualified, holding degrees or diplomas with relevant phase qualifications and SACE registration. - *Teachers without SACE*: Some foreign-origin teachers had qualifications but lacked SACE certificates, leading to their replacement. - *Teachers for classes*: The school has teachers for all classes. - *Parent meetings*: The school has adopted one-on-one meetings with concerned parents. Personal Analysis I've seen that the school may lack some things to provide standard education, but they're trying their best. Challenges often result from parents indirectly influencing kids to be rude to teachers and management. As parents, if we write or talk negatively about the school, how do we expect our kids to behave? Let's work with the school and support them rather than criticizing baselessly. We need to raise our children together with the teachers.

Oceans Private School Response to Social Media Concerns Oceans Private School has taken notice of concerns raised on social media and would like to address some of the issues. Although it's not our usual practice to respond to anonymous writers, we understand the importance of transparency and accountability. Addressing the Concerns We take pride in providing quality education and maintaining a safe learning environment. We have high standards for our students and staff, and we don't tolerate misbehavior or misconduct. Recently, we've had to refuse admission to some learners due to behavioral issues, which has unfortunately attracted negative attention. Qualified Teachers and Departmental Oversight All our teachers are qualified, and the Department of Education regularly monitors our staff through facilitators. With many qualified teachers available in the market, it's unlikely that we would employ unqualified staff. Our teachers work closely with department officials on various subjects, ensuring that our students receive the best possible education. Achievements and Recognition Over the past three years, Oceans Private School has produced a learner who received an award as the best in the province of Gauteng at Matric level. This achievement speaks to the quality of our teaching staff and the education we provide. Unfounded Accusations We acknowledge that no school is perfect, and we're working tirelessly to improve. However, many of the accusations on social media are unfounded and baseless. We're a new school that's grown and established itself to compete with the best, and some may feel threatened by our success. Registration and Departmental Recognition We're registered with the Department of Education, and our learners participate in Matric exams. Our students have achieved outstanding results, including being number one in some subjects in the province. Department officials regularly visit our school, which speaks to our legitimacy. Conclusion We appreciate those who have taken the time to bring concerns to our attention. We see this as an opportunity to improve and become one of the best schools in the province. We invite those with unanswered questions to visit our campuses in Midrand, Randburg, and Thohoyandou. We're committed to transparency and accountability, and we're working hard to maintain our reputation as a reputable school.

Dear reader , When I saw some of these social media complaints regarding Oceans Private School , after the first term last year , I quickly rushed to take my kids out of the school. In the second term, I enrolled them at another school, and they have been schooling at the other school until the end of 2024 academic year, but then I realized that something is terribly wrong with my kids . The younger one, grade R, was able to read when he was at Oceans, but he couldn't read anymore . My grade 6 learner seemed confused everytime I asked him what he did at school and he was never proud to talk about his school day and what the teacher was teaching them ...I learnt that it was a mistake ...this year am back at Oceans Private School...I have realised that these guys try much much better than what is being said on social media platforms. What did I realize and discover 1. Most people who are writing these messages are just bitter parents that they have failed to pay fees... Please don't recruit us to join you on you can't pay fees . There are government schools for free that you can go to . How do you expect the school to pay the bills and the teachers? It is true teachers will leave of we as parents can't pay the fees and as a parent you can't expect another parent to pay stationery or fees for your child. It's like living your kids at home while you are going to work expecting your neighbors to feed your kids..no way guys .. let's be serious. 2. I also suspect that some of these people writing here are just competitors that are losing their learners to Oceans . So, if you lose business to a competitor, it is painful so we can understand the anger. For example, I went there and asked to talk to the teachers during the consultation day to find out about the qualifications of the teachers, and I was happy . I asked the teachers to show me their qualifications and they showed me themselves and you can literally see that this person knows what they are doing so if we say teachers are an qualified maybe for other classes but I saw the qualifications of 4 teachers just randomly so. That can't be claimed to be pre-arranged . For me, my kids are happy once again and are improving shem. Let's just stop recruiting other people to become enemies of your enemies.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the way Oceans treats our children. Today, my daughter was removed from class for the entire day, and she is understandably disappointed with how things were handled. I enrolled her at the end of January and was informed that I needed to pay a registration fee and school fees, which I promptly paid. I was also told that the next payment would be due at the end of February. However, I was shocked to find out today that my daughter was taken out of class due to allegedly outstanding school fees. I do not understand why this is happening. If I had known I wouldn’t be able to keep my child enrolled at this school, I would have made a different choice. It feels more like a money-making business to me, and I do not recommend enrolling your children in this institution. Before my daughter started classes on Monday, I went to the school and provided proof of payment. I also paid for her school uniform, but no one informed me that another payment would be required after just five days. YESES

Parents please double check if this school is registered before taking them to Oceans. I've checked the school name under NSC School Performance Report for their 2024 matric results and the school name is not there.

A Warning to Parents: Avoid Oceans Private Schools at All Costs As a concerned parent, I feel compelled to share my experience with Oceans Private Schools—a name that, unfortunately, has become synonymous with disappointment and frustration. Lack of Qualified Teachers: One of the most glaring issues is the absence of qualified teachers. It's shocking to see a supposed educational institution employ individuals who lack the necessary credentials and experience to teach effectively. This has a direct, negative impact on students' learning and growth. Neglect of Core Subjects: Even more alarming is the fact that some core subjects go untaught for months. Can you imagine sending your child to school, only to discover they aren't receiving instruction in essential subjects like mathematics or science? This neglect is unacceptable and demonstrates a blatant disregard for students' academic futures. Disorganisation and Unprofessionalism: The school's overall lack of organisation and professionalism is evident in nearly every interaction. From inconsistent communication with parents to chaotic administrative processes, Oceans Private Schools operates with a level of disarray that is both frustrating and concerning. It’s clear that management is either unwilling or incapable of running an educational institution effectively. Money Over Education: Perhaps the most disheartening aspect of all is the school's apparent prioritisation of profit over quality education. It's evident that the administration is more interested in collecting fees than in providing a nurturing and effective learning environment for students. This is not just a disservice to the children but an outright betrayal of parents who trust the school with their children's education. Final Verdict: I strongly urge all parents to stay far, far away from Oceans Private Schools. If you value your child's education and well-being, look elsewhere. This institution is a textbook example of how not to run a school. Your child's future deserves better.

Every private school that I have searched here has bad reviews , n most of them are about fees .. but out of all this, one has fewer bad reviews than others, meaning they are much better than how they are being portrayed. Most parents / guardians are just bitter because they couldn't afford to pay fees ..We must remember that most of these private schools don't getting government funding and hence they need fees money to operate. Guys, if we can't afford a private school for our kids, let's enrol them at a public school, n save our ourselves and our kids from lots of embarrassment of kids being chased out of school because of fees . Public Schools are for free

Since I enrolled my two sons at this school, I have realised and discovered that education is not about how much money one can pay for fees. I used to pay an arm and leg until a friend of mine recommended Oceans Private School. I realized that there is a lot of discipline , my kids are now able to communicate with respect, their fees are affordable and I don't have sleepless nights any more like before. My have been at the school for 3 years now and am very happy . For three years they have only increased fees by R100.00 per month per year and this for me is a plus. My boys couldn't read when they were in grade 3 but just three months after I had enrolled them they were able to read and they made me proud. Keep it up guys you are doing a good job
