Terrible scsmming vet!! I have written prove that i told Dr Baker not to go over my budget!! He simply choose to ignore this and false claim he did tell me during examination! NO ONE .. AND I REPAET NO ONE once called me or email or text to get permission and clarify the amounts of extra test he wanted to do! By law you 1st need to inform a customer and take permission which was not done. And i have prove also stating i told him to stop! Which he just ignored!! However i will take matter furthers.. also do go and see some reviews as this ****ming service has been going on for years.. which i sadly only saw now!! He didnt even give 1 tablet of medication for treatment at home!! After qoatation of R4300... he raced up the bill to R9070... even after strictly being told not to! Refused to give me our cat if we didnt pay. Dr baker is very rude and couldnt even give determin the cause.. which a female vet then came to apologize stating im right by law all test should 1st get permission after giving thr price which was not done! After a huge argument and me telling them i will call the police he drop to R5700!!! Which i will claim back as this taken from us against the law.. he gave my cat and not even 1 tablet!! Fot treating him at home! I have all screen shots and did request the recordings of the phone calls.. but was denied.

I ran out of here as fast as I could! They wanted to admit my puppy with diarrhoea without even having taken a temperature and wanted me to pay R3000 upfront for an overnight stay. Tests would then have cost another 4 grand. The assistant lady mistreated my puppy and made her very scared. The place is a mess and it is just cats on every surface, and the receptionists are unprofessional. If you love your pet, please don’t take them to this vet!

When you take your kittie to a vet, you pay more than a doctor's visit, you pay even more at this vet because they tell you that a holding deposit of R2500.00 is needed before you can see the vet, and the amount thereafter depends on what they do, all the meds they gave to her stresses my baby, I am out of pocket and out of my mind because my kittie is still not right and I can't afford to spend anymore money there because whatever they do they will charge me, I am thinking of going herbal with this kittie of mine to relieve her 3 year old stress and my bank account which isn't even my bank account because I am unemployed and my fiance does what he can to help me Now that is caring. You selfish vets when are you going to care for the animal instead of how you can get hold of your next victim to fleece hang your head in shame! If there is a vet out there that loves cats and that wants to help without costing a bomb please let us know how to find you. We have her best interest at heart. Not money!

We woke up to bad smell on Sunday morning. My cat had explosive diarrhea all over the house! Our regular vet had already shut so we were forced to go to a different vet. We ended up at Parktown North very apprehensive as we did not know the vet and due to COVID restrictions we couldn’t go in with our baby. We just handed him to a receptionist and we had to wait outside until the vet can to talk with us. The vet suggested keeping him overnight, which turned into 2 nights. They kept me updated on his progress twice a day. And when I went to go fetch him on Tuesday they stayed 30 min late for me as I was coming from work. They had cleaned him up, groomed him and gave me medicine to take home with him. I was very happy with their service

I have been to Parktown North Vet on 2 occasions and will never go back. The first occasion: I rushed my 7 month old kitten to this vet. I got greeted by a very disgruntled vet who looked like he wanted to be anywhere else. I was in tears as I really felt my kitten was not ok. I’m assuming from the posts that this vet was Dr Knowledge from previous posts because the way he treated me seemed very familiar from previous posts. He accused me of not giving my kitten the right care, and that he was treating her as emergent. He told me that if he hears from me then she’s passed away. He called me at 6am the next morning and told me as much. I was heartbroken. I thought it was me. I said in heartbroken disbelief, “I can’t believe I didn’t see it”. His response... “I can’t believe you didn’t see it either.” From numerous calls during the course of the day to find out the post mortem results, no clarity was given. Eventually this vet called me to say that there was nothing I could have done, it’s very rare and cats never get what she had - splenic torsion. Only then did he indicate some sort of compassion. I spent the entire day thinking I had ****ed my kitten because of a callous comment this vet stated. But... I thought that it was a once off and he was just very tired. The 2nd occasion: My newest kitten got rushed to the vet. I, already have had a very traumatic experience, thought this was it for this kitten as well. Again I got to experience the loveliness of the same vet. I paid the R3k deposit, whilst he took her into the next room. I opened the door to him slouching against the table, nonchalantly looking at my kitten running across the floor to hide. He didn’t seem to care at all. He picked her up, barely examined her, and said accusingly (like I honestly would do this to her on purpose) that her eye has been cut. I was again in tears and I said, “Please, the last time I took an animal to this vet she didn’t make it out. Please do what you can to save her.” First of all, he didn’t comfort me and say that she would be fine, it actually is quite treatable. No. He said, “if she dies she dies, nothing we can do about it.”. I did not sleep that night waiting for the fateful call. I eventually got a call at about 10am saying I could pick her up. I picked her up after work and Dr Baker saw me. He actually greeted me with some sense of compassion. He told me she had been in a cat fight. I took her home, with no money back mind you from the deposit. I immediately noticed that the claw off her back paw was half falling off and the nail bed was covered in blood. How in the hell did they not see this??? I called them, and another vet who I hadn’t spoken to said I can bring her back, but only the next day because only then the vets that saw my cat would be in. The next morning I called my own vet and she said not to fiddle with her paw, monitor it but it should be ok. I decided there and then not to take her back for another traumatic experience. I have just come from the bryanston vet. I, now overly paranoid, took my other little one in. The compassion and the examination by the vet was the polar opposite of this Dr Knowledge. My little one is perfectly fine but I will never again go back to Parktown North Vet. Bryanston Vet for the win!

Went in to get salve and pain medication for our dog's sore footpad after a hike. She had a very superficial lesion on her footpad - only damaged skin-deep. Upon requesting a salve and some light pain medication, if possible without a prescription, the vet insisted on seeing the injury before dispensing anything. Instead of just looking at the foot in reception, he bullied us into a consultation. In the consultation room, he looked at the paw and found an "ulceration" which was a gross exaggeration. He was then insinuating that we had not even cared enough to inspect the injury. His attitude was very condescending and he was very disrespectful. After bandaging the leg up to the elbow, he brought her out and explained to us how we ought to consider getting her into training because she was difficult to handle. He did not even listen when I replied, actually massively offended, that she had been in training since early puppyhood. I was disgusted at the way we were treated. Manipulated into an extensive treatment for a superficial injury, and blatantly insulted at our dog's behaviour under stress and pain, in hands of strangers, in a new environment after a five-hour drive. Even if my medical opinion and judgements are invalid - At least explain to me why this minor injury requires bandaging. At least give me the option of keeping an eye on her and seeing if it heels okay if I don't want her whole leg bandaged. And tell me if that is not an option and why. I feel as if we were taken for a ride and forced into paying a whole lot of unnecessary fees. A bunch of Injections, tablets e.c.t.. She tore off the bandage two days later and there was almost no sign of the lesion

My dog fell desperately ill. Rushed my dog there on Tues evening. They were very helpful quick to respond and diagnose the issue. They treated my dog quickly and monitored her. She was sent home happy clean and well looked after. An easy list of instruction for care was given with her. Their fees were very low and they assisted with a discount. Well done team.

I am writing this note explaining the experience we have encountered since we have been at the vet. We have a 5 month old Jack Russel who we have been bringing to your rooms since he first felt ill . My fiancé could only praise you for how you are and how you have been treating the pets in your care . I was rest assured that we were at the right place , we had to bring him in for eating a rotten Hibiscus plant when he was 3 months from the garden , he had tummy aches, was lifeless and as it was my first baby I didn’t know what to do and I couldn’t see him suffer hence I brought him in. Dr Knowledge was the Dr on night shift on the 09 April 2019 . I was very disappointed at his approach towards us , he made us feel as if we took the flower and put it into Cisko’s mouth , the manner in which he questioned us was as if he was talking to children who had done something wrong. He could not tell us what to give Cisko to make him feel better even though we gave him all the symptoms. He insisted the only thing he could do is to keep Cisko overnight and monitor him and treat him for it. He wanted to see the vaccination card and also asked if it was legit .We told him we bought Cisko from a breeder and gave him the certificate. He insisted it was not legit it looked like it was forged. But my fiancé guaranteed him it was legit and we been to the persons home and he works with my fiancé. He just grinned. It being my first time, I left him because we I didn’t know how to help him. The next morning I was told to fetch him and he came with antibiotics and a probiotic which he had to complete. R2296.40 ( No Explanation as to what was wrong) On the 14 April Cisko was not well , he didn’t want to walk or runabout and usually he is up ,down ,in and out ,and everywhere getting up to mischief, I knew it was something but I just didn’t know what it was. Dr Knowledge seen him , he asked what happened , again questioned as if we did something wrong. I explained that it has something to do with his tummy as he would not eat and run about and is not himself , again keep him for observation .He told me the food I am feeding him is not of a god quality and I should feed the food you offer in the rooms. I went to collect him the next day and he was excited to come I asked the Dr the next morning (Dr Davids) what had happened to Cisko ,as they could not find anything I had to continue with his probiotic and antibiotic . I advised them that Cisko used to run up the stairs and was active , he now couldn’t use his 2 back legs to balance and would sit sideways, what had happened ( I have footage of this the day I collected him and taken him home ,on the day and called to say this is what was wrong only to be told, I don’t know but to monitor it ,as they didn’t drop him or anything , he was fine in the care. I took him to the vet that evening to make sure he was ok only to be told by Dr Knowledge he is fine his probably being naughty. R1890.58( No explanation as to what was wrong) Dr Knowledge insisted on giving Cisko his 1st injections as he did not think Cisko’s certificate was legit this was on one of the 2 visits after collecting Cisko. So we had to abide and let him do this. The 15th May Cisko went in for his Rabies and 2nd set of injections , we left and 2 hours later realised when my fiancé came home Cisko face was so swollen he could not even eat drink or see. We rushed him in back only to ask us what happened , was he stung by a bee? Then what did I fed him , I told them he only eats chunks but it wasn’t feeding time but they asked me if I was sure , seriously … of course why would I lie I am here to save him , again he had to spend the night but it was a safer option as he had allergies. I did ask what was the course they said it could only be something in the injections and they will make sure when he comes for the next one it will be a different brand because he has allergies. I asked if they could test and see what he was allergic to they say they cannot because it is to many tests so I will never know what he is allergic to. The injections were given by Dr Davids who is a much better person and can explain what he thinks is wrong . These were ok cases but the below one has made me decide to not come back , it is so heartbreaking. On the 31st July, I called in to say that Cisko ate some sunscreen from a tube. Dr Knowledge advised me that he couldn’t assist me unless I told him exactly how much he ate from the tube , I explained the that I cannot see inside the tube but it was still full and I don’t think it could be that much. He said he could not tell me anything until he knows how much he ate. So I felt it was still heavy and said he ate a bit. He said well you can just monitor him and see how he is , he could not recommend what to do or give him. Cisko got lifeless and was now drooling which made me worry so I rushed him in , he looked at him and Cisko was running about and peed and was a bit shaky , he told me he cannot advise me what to do and he can only keep him overnight for observation. So I asked him can he not give me anything , he asked me like what , he said it was like a car it runs out and you just refill it ( what does that even mean) besides you the vet you should have some idea of problems is this not what you studied. He even said, “then why did I bring him in in the first place”? If I don’t leave him and I come back I will pay another consultation fee and the fee for overnight. It seems like every time the only solution for treatment for anything is to stay overnight. He couldn’t recommend what I could give him . I had to waste my R600 only to be told he has to be monitored once again. I bought Diomec plus over the counter when at the rooms. This has left me no option but to go elsewhere where I need to feel welcome and feel like someone wants to help and not just make money. I didn’t want it this way but this is really sad to think you come for help only to be charged for nothing. I took Cisko home and prayed he recovered. Dr Knowledge does not seem to be authentic , he is not there for the love of animals . We need more Dr’s who have a passion for their jobs and try to be the best there is and if you don’t know read up.
