A.Vogel Natural Lemon Flavour Alkaline powder - disgusting flavour !
I sometimes used the A.Vogel Multiforce Alkaline Powder for my acid/alkaline balance. Without reading the label (since I know the products well), I bought one x 225-gram pot at a local pharmacy. What a disgusting and unhealthy product this new natural lemon flavour versions turned out to be. If you are not sick yet, consuming this product may make you want to vomit! The lemon flavour tastes oily, sour and synthetic at the same time, combined with 3 kinds of sugars plus a sweetener, it tastes disgusting. The majority of sugar is mannitol - a sugar alcohol that may cause bloating, gas and diarrhoea. Into the ******* bin you go, to be avoided at all costs ! By the way, the unflavoured version remains a good product to use.

Miniature lamb shanks at Glen Carlo Wine Estate
Four of use went to Glen Carlou Wine Estate for a lunch on 5/10/2025. We all decide to order lamb shanks with vegetables. It was the smallest shanks I have ever eaten ! When I got home, I had to eat some meat again ! Definitely not value for money at R 300 a miniature shank.

Best flight experience you can get in SA !
After many years of not flying SAA, we managed to get tickets at a very competitive price in June 2025 and decided to use SAA from Cape Town to Johannesburg. We were pleasantly surprised at the ease of buying the tickets, and the boarding process was faster and far more effective than any boarding procedures we have experienced the past many years - there was no herding of people at the gate, from business class to economy class all proceeded smoothly, as people arrived, they boarded !!! The food on board was excellent as were the flight attendants! The seats were larger, more comfortable and had more leg space than any of the competition ! WOW ! What a delightful experience this was !

iPhone battery replacement with ease
I booked my iPhone 11 battery replacement through the internet and contacted the Canal Walk branch. They sourced an original Apple battery for me within a few days and confirmed when it arrived. Installation took around 45 minutes and a reset was done. I did not lose any data and the iPhone's battery health, maximum capacity and charging settings worked 100%

Old Mutual website is useless
This month is the end of the financial year, and many people are taking the opportunity to make lump-sum contributions to their pensions and tax-free investments etc. So, one needs to at least get an up-to-date statement of funds in order to make decisions. But no ! Old Mutual's last financials are dated October 2024. Dead after that. Then I manually calculated the Amount that I should pay in and submit that through the website. Next day I got a sms stating that the amount was too large and would be taxed. So then I tried calling Old Mutual. An Agent returned my call on a number rated as spam by Truecaller. After an extremely long time, I was assured that the transaction will be processed in time, but no email confirmation of any kind. Old Mutual can't be serious about business !!!!

Improved Sunlight dishwashing liquid - thick as a brick
Sunlight dishwashing liquid has been a trusted brand for many years. And it still is - for now. They never publish the percentage of active ingredients, so it is difficult for a consumer to determine, unless it is tested chemically and for cleaning efficacy, etc. So, if they change the formulation, no one will know it was changed. In the days of prices going up all the time, manufacturers find new ways to remain profitable. So, I was fascinated by the statement "Improved formulation" using bio-enzymes. Tragically, the liquid is now so thick that one has to shake it out of the bottle like a thick sauce! Usually, manufactures of dishwash detergent use cheap table salt to thicken it, misleading consumers into thinking thickness has anything to do with strength. So please, decrease the excessive thickness, I am not going to battle with a sticky green slurry in my kitchen !

Afristay inflexible
You know when your planned booking goes 100% as planned, there is seldom anything to complain about! However, when things go wrong, and you find the booking agency is missing in action, and get no feedback, you know it is time to look for another agency that is more flexible. I had to cancel my hotel reservation in Namibia due to a delay in my work visa. After I have submitted my cancellation, Afristay went off the radar. All I requested, was a statement of my account, and payback of any part of my deposit. But nothing happened. I phoned the Hotel and was told that Afristay took its commission and there is nothing more they can do since I booked through Afristay, I had to sort things out with Afristay. I would not easily make use of Afristay anymore, there are much better and more flexible agents available.

CemAir flight late as expected !!!
Ehn you look at the reports of which airlines are the most on-time, CemAir is not one of them. Sadly, I chose the CemAir flight on the 1 May 2023 holiday. The flight was at least 2 hours delayed to Hoedspruit and placed my family and me under severe pressure at our destination, Kruger Park. I had to beg to be allowed into the Park since the gates were closing! I just wish that ACSA or someone can make a rule that holds air transporters liable for costs should the flight be delayed - as a motivator for operating better. But I would not use CemAir again for any flight that is important to me !

Incentivize Toll Fee payment !
SANRAL has been responsible for maintaining and upgrading the Main Highways of South Africa for many years now. The national highways are, without a doubt, the best and safest roads to travel on in SA. But, we have a culture of non-payment of services, originating from the corruption observed of the SA State. So no one wants to pay toll fees, because it may be used for illegitimate purposes. My proposal is simple and would bring in millions to SANRAL. It is that, people who are interested, or require to drive faster on our highways be allowed to do so, under certain terms and conditions, and on certain highways at certain times, and for this privilege, the driver of the car would pay an additional amount per toll gate to allow for legal speeding. It will solve the payment problems and more spirited drivers would subsidize the slow drivers and keep ensuring that the roads are well funded and maintained !!!
