On Saturday 8th March 2025 , we, my daughter and I, visited the Nedbank Branch in Gardens Centre, Cape Town. We were pressed for time as I had to complete documents for my daughter who was doing her internship at a Public Hospital , We dealt with Melloney Bennett , Branch Manager at Nedbank. We still had to get her documents certified by a Commissioner of Oath. On hearing this and that we are pressed for time , Melloney immediately obliged by signing the documents as she was a Commissioner of Oath. She could have just i ignored us and not even mention that she is a Commissioner of Oath , but she helped. Melloney you could never have imagined the time and effort you saved us because the documentation had to be submitted that very same day. Nedbank you have a star in Melloney .A Star with dignity and compassion...and sometimes it pays to overhear a conversation !!
On 3rd February 2025 I phoned GEMS regarding an issue where one on the dependents on my medical aid had to be removed. I firstly spoke to Shafika Swartz ( Call Ref: MH167833250) who. while we chatting ,sent me the dependent termination form and promptly explained the option to choose for termination. Next I was transferred to Nthabiseng Golele (Call Ref: 030325QTX7VK) who promptly gave me a breakdown of my new monthly payment , the employer portion and the total contribution. To be honest, both operations were done seamlessly, professionally and efficiently. GEMS you have two employees who are well versed and very professional and they must be commended. Thanks once again to Shafika and Nthabiseng.Well done !!!!! NOTE: Many previous experiences with GEMS ended in disasters. This latest call has changed my perception of GEMS. Long may it continue!!
HPE ( Hewlett Packard Enterprise) have a Presales Specialist who focuses on small to large enterprise customer projects. His name is Hilton Russell from HPE in Cape Town, South Africa. Hilton is as quick and dynamic in service delivery as those Core HPE servers that he provides you information on. What an asset to your company. Whenever I need information or advice on HPE products , I call on Hilton. And it always seems like he is waiting on my call or my WhattsApp message because within a few rings or within minutes of sending your email , he responds ,trying to advise or sorting out your request . Hilton is a humble guy, I always end our communication remarking that he is indeed a STAR and he responds that he is only doing his job. I have been calling on Hilton's advice, experience and expertise for more than 10 years, and not once has he failed in his commitment and insight. HPE you can be proud of Hilton Russell .He should be commended and acknowledged.
I stay just outside the Cape Town CBD in Woodstock. When I feel like a meal from KFC, which is frequent , I drive all the way past SIX or more KFC outlets all the way to to your KFC situated in Sea Point Main Road, Cape Town. So, I drive past your KFC’s in Woodstock, KFC in Gardens, three other outlets in Cape Town CBD and KFC in Green Point all the way to KFC,Sea Point Main Road, Cape Town Sound crazy doesn’t it because all the products, specials and pricing are all the same at all KFC branches and even the petrol price has escalated So I go all the way to KFC,Sea Point Main Road, Cape Town for: The superb and professional staff , but especially, the friendly service : Sir/madam you have some gifted personnel at this store who knows the true meaning of CUSTOMERCARE. Here I refer especially to : Managers: Kudzai Dhamisa, Nosi Manentsa Cashier:Yonela Here is a typical example: Just last week when I visited the Sea Point Branch , cashier, Yonela, informed the customers , me being one of them, that the chicken has a three minute waiting period. She announced this in the most apologetic of tones. And then Manager , Kudzai , appeared and with her calm, smiling, demeanour, and was even more apologetic about the three minute wait. You as a customer don’t mind the three minute wait because you immediately understand that the staff are trying their utmost to deliver within three minutes because the cashier and manager has apologised and made a promised. They have not left the customers in the dark and let them wait and not even apologise as per other KFC outlets. Lo and behold the fried chicken arrived within the 3 minutes and tasted lekke. Another Example: There was an older customer struggling to order using the touch -screen . Yonela , leaned over the counter , although taking orders in the meanwhile, still managed to help this customer. Then she cancelled the order on the touch -screen and asked the customer to redo the order again on his own . The entire “skills- transfer” of using the touch screen and placing the order was done in a subtle and pleasant tone and least ,not humiliate the customer. 2 simple examples portraying the true meaning of CUSTOMERCARE. Just had a terrible experience at your Pick n Pay at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Yesterday, Sunday 19th February 2023 , I went to the Pick n Pay at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. About two weeks ago I bought a brand new Salton manufactured iron for ironing clothes from this Pick n Pay. We have discovered however that the iron does not iron effectively and wanted to return it. After waiting for nearly 20 minutes to see the store manager , he simply said that the iron can not be returned since it has been used. I deliberated with him saying that I am aware that the iron has been used but I am returning it because it is not working effectively ,but I am also prepared to buy a better one at their Pick n Pay. In other word Pick n Pay is not going to lose the sale and this I made quite clear to Mr Manager. The Manager smugly still insisted that he is not prepared to take back the iron because it has been used. For a massive company like Pick n Pay to not handle this situation amicably and sensibly was beyond me. I normally do lots of shopping at Pick n Pay , but to be treated like this left me frustrated and irate having anything to do deal with poor service and reasoning like this.
Had an issue with my daughter's dental plan (she is a dependant).Phoned GEMS.Terrible,terrible service from the first person who picked up untill I was transferred 5 times,yes 5 times, before getting to the Dental Section at GEMS. Why do you have to enter your membership number and ID and then have to repeat this information again when you eventually speak to a human being.This woman had very little knowledge about me query and put down the phone in my face . Tried again 20 minutes later ,Im back by the Dental Section.They are not very helpful when it comes to claims. Phone went off again.Went to the walk in centre in Cape Town.They basically phone the GEMS Helpline again .What a waste of time and incompetance. My issue is still not resolved!!!! This service does not even deserve the ONE Star !!!!
Brilliant experience, beautiful setting, relaxed ambience .We got set up in the beautiful garden .Was shown around the SPA ( part of the restaurant) , clean and well-kept.( unfortunately did not have time for the SPA). Restaurant food was fantastic , pricing reasonable, service professional ( no over-eager waitressing) , menu, pleasing to the eye ,with lots of variety. Absolutely fantastic breakfast enjoyed by our party of four. High recommended. Try the Salmon platter for breakfast ... divine!!!
Sunday 2nd January 2022 is a day I will never forget. I got up the morning with an unbearable pain in my "bowels" not knowing it was in fact a KIDNEY STONE trapped in my ureter and bladder.Do not wish this pain on the worst of your enemies . It is so painful that I vomited at home and my wife drove me to the Emergency at Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital BIG BIG MISTAKE !!!!! The Security at CBMH ,seeing that I am in severe pain ,nearly crawling on the pavement, gave me a chair to sit on and abruptly said I must wait my turn and just continued talking to his colleague ."To hell with you " kind of attitude.We ( My wife and I) were sitting outside on the pavement on chairs ,cars passing us by and me writhing in pain, at supposedly one of the better hospitals with this **** treatment.My wife still argued with the security guy to let us at least explain to a doctor my serious condition.He was adamant and rudely refused to entertain this suggestion. absolutely no caring bone in his body . Eventually we left and went to CAPE MEDI CLINIC...the best service under the sun. To rate the experience on Sunday 2nd January 2022. as " Terrible" is still glorifying it. If there was a Rating scale , I would be seriously looking for a large number on the NEGATIVE side of that Rating Scale . In Afrikaans there is a subtle word that defines such **** service : "SIES ",SHAME ON YOU
My mom ,87 years old, who is bed-ridden has an ATM card which expired. After several inquiries at several Nedbank branches they suggested that a lawyer's letter be drawn up and allocated a person with signing power etc etc ... VERY COMPLICATED AND TEDIOUS EXERCISE. I then approached on the Sharon Fitzgerald ,Branch Manager at Nedbank ,Garden Centre,Mill Str,Cape Town.She simply suggested that my mom come the Saturday, nice and early 9 am( when bank is not busy) to come and sign for her card .Saturday arrived , we wheeled my mom into the bank with a wheelchair from Garden Centre and within 10-15 minutes she has a new ATM . Thanks to Sharon and the staff. Efficiency without any fuss.Well done. Special mention also to another staff member at this branch,Antoinette Aspeling, who is very efficient and extremely helpful and with who I had several dealings regarding my kids' ATM cards and bank accounts. Well done all.
PDSA Bridgetown,Cape Town Excellent service and extremely caring personnel towards all animals. Our cat was extremely sick and we took him to an expensive vet..They were more interested in what you are willing to pay than seeing to the health of the animal.And after paying nearly R1000 our cat was no better healthwise.A vet suggesting that I "just pop" a tablet into a sick animals throat because we weren't prepared to pay more. Try that on a sick animal .Rather cold shoulder treatment and we had to pay for this ****py service. Then we turned to the PDSA in Bridgetown ,Cape Town,Wow ,!!!! what professional service and care from the receptionist, to the nurses ,to the vets. Our cat was examined ,blood test taken, given a couple of injections and all of this done with efficiency and care. I was blown away by their professionalism and believe me there were many animals the 2 days we attended. I felt ashamed and sad that with the professionalism displayed by all staff, that this PDSA institution is being neglected financially.We had staff who honor their work ethic from the moment you step into this institution ,till when you leave.. Our cat is doing well ,all due to the wonderful staff at PDSA,Bridgetown. Here is an institution I would recommend that we can pour our finances into .It will be worth it,guaranteed, The PDSA is always in need for funding for not only caring for mine or your animal but also for the stray animals which must be fed and taken care of.
