Booking a holiday can be done on line but often one feels that one might have missed something of importance, or perhaps one wonders if one has made the correct choice. I have learnt over the years that a good local travel agent really can assist and my choice is Flight Centre Nicolway (now Winnie Mandela Shopping Centre). Lori Bernstein has been there for many years and is knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. Flights, cruises, hotels etcs, she has all the info. I very much reccomend her.
Incredible Connection in Cresta Shopping centre has impressed me today. As I entered the store to look and hopefully choose a printer I was greated by a friendly well spoken guy in a relaxed but respectfull manner. He enquired as what I was looking for and then motioned me to please follow him to the printer section. He seemed to have memorised the workings and operating costs of just about all the printers in the store and there were many. He helped me select a Cannon and took pains to explain the number of prints it could make on one cartridge and how much they were to replace, and much more. His name was Lincoln and he might have been the manager I dont know, but he was certainly a cut above average - I generally find Incredible Connection stores well run.
I live in Bryanston. Needed repairs to the electric fence around the perimeter of my property. Phoned about 7 entities advertising electric fence services, did not phone Bar-One at that stage as in my my mind I had them only doing gates, security bars etc. I dismissed most of the so called electric fence repairers while talking to them over the phone. Eventually 2 came to my property and one quoted R4700 and the other R1500. Same work !. I did not trust either of them and I forsore problems. Then I thought maybe Bar-One whom I use for gates and security bars might do electric fences. Well, they did and they came out exactly when arranged, no nonsense and did a high quality repair where required and then they fixed another area not even on the quote and did not charge me more. Their quote was around R3600 which I thought after my many earlier enquiries was very competitive. Very pleasant to deal with. Their Andrew was a perfect gentleman.
I have a holiday house in the Eastern Cape not far from Port Elizabeth and leave an out of warranty Honda vehicle there. I telephoned Maritime Motors Honda in Port Eizabeth to make a booking and spoke to a very pleasant service liasion person Chantel Armstrong. Very knowledgable and helpful - she took care in finding the required correct part and telephoned me to arrange a booking for when I could drive my Honda to the PE dealership. All went like clockwork and repair was 100%. The dealership sells Mercedes and Kia as well and despite having been constructed around 10 years ago so I understand, it is a magnificent building and spotlessly kept - looks new in fact. A very smart restaurant area for customers with plenty free excellent coffee. I was able to wait for my vehicle but walked accross the road to a very nice Spur. I received a call when my vehicle was ready. Overall an excellent experience.
I purchased a Mercedes CLS from Sandown Motors Bryanston 11 years ago. It is long out of Motorplan but I have continued to have it regularly serviced at Sandown Motors Bryanston. My last service was about 6 weeks ago and was a fairly major service. As always the staff were very courteous and the service manager Carlo carefully explained what should be done and ran through the anticipated costs for me. He was very professional . I was telephonically kept up to date with progress throughout the day. When I collected my vehicle it was very clean and the invoiced amount contained no surprises - I thought it most reasonable and in line with my discussions with Carlo. My Mercedes is now old and probably not worth much but Sandown Motors certainly have treated me and the vehicle like VIP's over the years. Friends of mine have similar stories.
Took my Honda CRV for a service in February 2022. Vehicle still under maintenance plan. Was very pleased with the atmosphere of the dealership. The whole procedure was completed in a friendly and competent manner. I took advantage of the shuttle service and it was organized - all arrangements were kept even in high traffic times. I wondered into the Honda motorcycle section at the dealership and struck up a conversation with one of the salespersons who was very clued up on Honda motorbikes and quads. I was very impressed with his knowledge and general demeanor. I currently own two Honda motor vehicles and have owned others over the past years, going back to the time when Mercedes Benz and Honda were under the same roof. Have always found Honda reliable and good to drive. The CRV must have the most spacious interior of all the vehicles in its class.
Our first long distance move in September and we chose to go with Eezi Move Furniture Removal as they treated us with care and consideration from the time of our first enquiry. A couple of other removal companies by comparison sounded disorganised and not particularly interested in securing our business. It was only a part load to the Eastern Cape. We dealt mainly with ****ie swart of Eezi Move and their highly sophisticated system was great but still very simple to use. Dates and times were adhered to and ****y assisted us with a few amendments of the goods we were sending as well as date changes, all handled pleasantly and professionally. The truck driver and staff were competent and obliging, no complaints from us whatsover. Peter and Elizabeth Howard (Peter and Elizabeth of Johannesburg) #WIN.
Team leader Lori at Fliight Centre Nicolway is always pleasant and seems to have all the facts at her fingertips. She is friendly and is patient with clients. It has created a nice ambiance in that travel shop. She recently assisted me with an international ticket extension because of Covid and this process was finalised speedily and to my satisfaction. I highly reccommend that store.
Took my top of the range but ageing Mercedes (many years out of maintenance and service plans ) to Mercedes Benz Bryanston in August 2020 for a simple service and to replace brake fluid. I have always thought it foolhardy to take an old vehicle to a non franchise dealership although I have heard many people say they charge too much. For this vehicle I have exclusively used Sandown Motors - I have always thought their costs reasonable and in fact I sometimes think I might have paid more for service and repair charges at a non franchise dealer. And I would worry about the quality of work. Despite the many exotic, new Mercedes cars at the dealership, the staff treated me as if I was bringing in a newish fancy Merc for service. I certainly would recommend to folks with old Mercs that they consider Mercedes Benz Bryanston. Decent people, quality work and your car should be reliable after their mechanics have checked it over. It can be dangerous if your vehicle breaks down.
Booked through Afristay early in 2020 for April stay at Horns Up in Kenton on Sea. Process straightforward and Afristay agents were pleasant and helpful. Covid 19 necessitated a change of dates, and again all pleasant and efficient dealings from Afristay and also from Horns Up, and new dates arranged. Again extended lockdown intervened and thought better to cancel and wait to see what happens with Covid 19. Was very impressed with both Mr Siegers, the proprietor of Horns Up, and Afristay, who both returned my full deposit without any deduction. Mr Siegers was very pleasant and helpful and all the monies already received by him from Afristay were returned by him without delay to Afristay who promptly refunded me. Afristay refunded me their booking fee. Accommodation establishments and travel agents are going through very bad financial times and these two establishments deserve to be supported.
