Excellent customer service. Dial Direct went out of their way to help me when my bank messed up my debit order. Quick and easy to get hold of a customer representative too.
Wonderful experience with ABSA at Walmer Park, Port Elizabeth. It actually felt like they cared and they did their best to help me.
Thanks to Uber, I have been able to get around safely. They have excellent checks for their drivers and vehicles, and charge affordable rates in line with the current petrol prices.
No Stars should be an option. Avoid Wesbank like the plague if you want vehicle finance. It is an impersonal machine that needs investigating by the Ombudsman, and when you try to get a complaint reference number, Wesbank ignores you. When a company gets too big, its systems are for corporations, not individuals. If you're an individual looking to buy a car through vehicle finance, take another finance route.
It is interesting that I have to select Security, because Joe Davis do not seem to offer any security in my experience. It allowed someone to claim sole executorship and convinced them to change the locks on a property. Despite being called and asked to stop, Joe Davis did not check any paperwork to ensure that they were told the truth. Since then, the property has fallen into disrepair, now looks abandoned, and has 50k bill at the municipality from the electricity being stolen by the 'caretakers'. In addition, a 4k musical instrument was also stolen after the locks were changed. The property was due to be handed to a neutral executor, but because Joe Davis believed the lies and did not check paperwork, an estate is now almost bankrupt. If Joe Davis had asked for paperwork, the locks would not have been changed. If it were possible to be given Minus stars, I would have chosen that option.
FNB claim they make banking easier. I have not found my experience in any way easier. I applied for an overdraft, and got declined. Then in the space of 3 days, FNB charged me R900 in banking charges for a debit order, that were it not to have gone through, would have tried again in 2 weeks as a failsafe. Let me get this straight - FNB declined me an overdraft - but will charge me R900 in banking fees for an unauthorised overdraft? I should have funds in my account right now to buy food, electricity and pay an R82 bill. Instead, I am in an unauthorised overdraft made up of banking fees for the unauthorised overdraft and will have to pay a further R65 if I can't pay my R82 bill today, which I had a payment in today to cover. I have also had issues with FNB over the PayPal payments that take days to clear, and here while my payments are taking days to clear in the FNB hold over PayPal, FNB is charging me R900 in banking fees. I have asked that FNB return the R900 immediately, today, as it is need for essentials - but have been told that FNB 'Care' would get back to me in 24-48 hours. This is unethical and irresponsible banking.
I have complained to FNB about PayPal 'payments' that FNB keeps in holds. In 1st world banking systems, PayPal is an instant transaction into your bank account. Here in SA, FNB calls them payments and Osiris bring them into your account. It takes between 2 - 8 days. I have been left with R2 in my account for 5 days, and FNB will not even allow me a temporary overdraft based on the $50 of my money sitting in their 2- 8 day hold. To be clear, instant PayPal transactions are far better than any overdraft, but in this current system, in an emergency, FNB would not help. FNB keep saying speak to PayPal, but there is no issue with PayPal. The issue is FNB. They have the mandate. Why? They are not delivering service worthy to have it. I have already emailed the Ombudsman, after trying to get FNB to help, but they keep sending me to PayPal. If a different SA bank had the mandate for PayPal, would the service be the same? The system FNB has in place with PayPal is ineffective and inefficient for the customer, but seemingly profitable for FNB. These systems have to change. PayPal transactions should enter our accounts instantly as they do in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand, among most other countries that use it.
