The promotion of the City Pass Cape Town is misleading. The advertising made it seem like you can use the City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off bus tours to get to the various attractions, but that is not the case at all. MOST of the "free" attractions included in the Unlimited Pass weren't along those bus routes and were far away from the city, so I ended up paying exorbitant prices for the free attractions I could get to. Not impressed and would not recommend.
Kiss your chances of receiving any customer support after 6 months goodbye. If you're purchasing something in advance, DO NOT leave the parcel unopened for longer than 6 months. I bought an office chair in April 2024, just as building renovations began at my office. I didn't want to open the parcel Makro delivered until the renovations were complete, as I didn't want my new chair to get damaged. The renovations were only completed in December 2024, so that's when I finally opened the box. As I began assembling the chair, I realised that important parts of the chair were not included in the box. Without those parts, the chair is completely useless. I immediately contacted Makro to explain my situation and request the missing parts, but all I've received are stock-standard responses telling me to log a return on my profile - even though I've explained at length that the delivery was over 6 months ago, so it's not possible for me to log a return. Offering a solution that doesn't relate to my particular problem just proves that they're not actually listening to me, and any problem outside the box (excuse the pun) cannot be helped.
DO NOT buy from this website. It is a total ****. I wish I'd read the reviews before I purchased from them. Order #936007 still not delivered after 10 workings day, no response to my emails, and website down (under construction). What a horrible waste of R857 :-(
Received my order just 2 days after placing it. Products arrived beautifully packaged and in mint condition. Also received a little free gift with my order - such a lovely personal touch. Very impressed and pleased with Shopping 4 Africa.
D'Angelo Whyte was super efficient, friendly and professional at signing up all 8 of my furbabies for accidental cover.
Last month, a company called Financial Debt Advisors submitted a debt review application to Nedbank on my behalf following an unsolicited call from them offering me their services. I received their proposed debt review application a couple of days after the phone call, and upon reading it, decided that debt review was not for me. When I informed Financial Debt Advisors that I did not wish to proceed with the application, they informed me that they had already processed the application and that I needed to pay them a cancellation fee to have it withdrawn. They had submitted the debt review application to my creditors BEFORE they'd supplied me with the required documents to process the application, and without my written consent. I begrudgingly paid the R300 cancellation fee to Financial Debt Advisors to have the debt review application withdrawn, and they supplied me with a Form 17.W, which was also submitted to my creditors. Unfortunately, by this time, Nedbank had already blocked my credit card account. For the last three weeks, I have been fighting with Nedbank to have my account unblocked. I've just been informed that I need to supply Nedbank with a police affidavit before they will unblock my account. This makes no sense, as they have received the Form 17.W that withdraws my account from debt review, so honestly, what is the problem? My other creditor, ABSA, unblocked my accounts in a matter of days without any hassle. No-one at Nedbank seems to know what is going on, and I'm so sick and tired of being passed from pillar to post and not getting anywhere. Nedbank sucks.
If you receive an unsolicited call from Financial Debt Advisors / FDA / Hyphen PDA in which they offer to reduce your monthly debt repayments, HANG UP! I was sucked into a debt review application over the phone that it turns out I did not need (as I can afford my debt). As soon as they sent me the paperwork, I read through it, changed my mind about the application and asked for it to be cancelled. I was told that, because I had replied "Yes" to one of their many WhatsApp messages, they had the right to submit the application to my creditors before I had received the paperwork, so I would have to pay them a R300 cancellation fee. I'm now under debt review, and my credit score has been negatively affected.
Since I became a Nedbank personal banking client in May 2017, I have been unable to make online purchases with my Nedbank Gold Credit MasterCard, due to an Approve-it error (3D authentication error). I have repeatedly contacted Nedbank about the Approve-it error I'm experiencing, and they keep saying there is nothing wrong on their side, when clearly there is! The cellphone number on the page that says "Thank you for using your Nedbank card to make your Internet purchase. To complete the purchase you need to authenticate yourself using Approve-it" is NOT my cellphone number, and every time I click "Continue, I have my phone" I get an error message from Nedbank Mastercard ID Check saying an internal error occurred. Everyone at Nedbank (via Nedbank Chat, email, and in the branch) I've spoken to says there is no error on their side, they are not declining the transaction, there's no record of me trying to make an online purchase, everything is fine with my card, the error is on the retailer's websites, etc. NO-ONE can help me, and I am beyond frustrated with their lack of customer service. If you don't want to lose your mind due to the stupidity of others, stay far away from Nedbank.
Be very careful of outsourced companies selling on behalf of Tracker! I was sold a Tracker Recover contract at R 145 p/m. The same contract costs R 119 p/m when signed up for directly with Tracker. I am an existing Tracker client, so when the sales agent said "on behalf of Tracker", I thought he was calling from Tracker. All e-mail confirmations received after the sales call were from Tracker. When I brought up the matter with Tracker, they said: "Please note as per the investigation conducted we found when you were called and offered a new unit the agent advised you that they were calling from Mango 5 on behalf of Tracker hence the pricing sources are different and we are unable to change the pricing source as they are an outsourced company selling on behalf of Tracker." I had NO idea Tracker products were sold at higher rates by outsourced companies, and only discovered that I was paying more than necessary for the Tracker product I signed up for, after the fact. If you hear "on behalf of", put the phone down!
