I have flown with VAA several times and it's always been a reasonably pleasant experience (long haul flights are drag no matter which airline it is!) and I've just booked to fly with them again this year. Although I tried for a week to book online I was unable to do so as the payment section of the website refused to accept my Johannesburg postal code!! Very frustrating. So I gave up and called them and was assisted by a friendly, efficient, apologetic staffer who did everything necessary. I did email in a complaint about the website and though it took VAA 4 days to respond they did email and said they would look into the issue. All in all, I feel reasonably happy with my 'experience' thus far. Fingers crossed for the flights!
Late last year I bought 4 cushion inners for my living room ( I was getting my own fabric to make the covers) two square and two rectangular. After getting the covers made I put the cushions in the living room. After a few days I noticed a quite unpleasant smell (not there before) and a week or so later my son also commented on it. It turned out to be the cushion inners. Checking the label I saw that they are made in China and clearly the feathers had not been cleaned / sanitised before being stuffed into the cushions. When I asked Haus for a refund they pointed out that it was more than 30 days since I'd bought the inners and therefore no refund was possible. They also denied that the cushion inners had a nasty smell (though I'd gone to the dry cleaners with them and they could smell it too!). Anyway, all I'm saying here is DO NOT get cushion inners from HAUS - or at least have a good sniff at them first!
Efficient and straightforward service. I checked them out on HelloPeter (and elsewhere) before ordering and paying on Friday 17th. The phone (Samsung A34 5GB) arrived this morning Tuesday 21st all in one piece. And their price was far and away the best. Thanks Excelltronics / Mr. Khan and staff!
This company makes out that they are a good and fair employer. This isn't true. They take a very disproportionate percentage of the amount the users of their services pay: R60 per week in some cases. And they are not at all upfront about how this fee, nor the amount that the "SweepSouth Stars" (meaning the people who do the actual cleaning) take home is calculated. When asked they resort to "The precise amount is calculated by an algorithm". They also use algorithms to 'rate' cleaning personnel and it's entirely depndent on the subjective views of the clients. So, if the person whose house you go to clean treats you like dirt and you complain and refuse to go back it's YOU (the cleaner) who gets a negative rating on the app!
Ms. MJK from Orange Farm put down a deposit of R6500 for building materials in the middle of 2021. Early in July, Build It Orange Farm was burnit down before she got her order. Whilst the owners of the Build It franchise - SPAR - have been kind of helpful (bot only when they were contacted in January) the former owner of BUILD IT Orange Farm, Mr. ANDRE VAN TONDER (who already has a new shop elsewhere!!) does not seem like he wants to give Ms. MJK her money back. Where is it? Who's earning interest on it??
DSTV down for 48 hours now - ever since I tried to upgrade to Premium and change by profile!!! Tried all methods to get a response from them = nada. There’s no actual number to call. Seems no actual humans work there but you can be sure that there are humans at the top who snag the profits!! HELP! I only want to pay to watch the rugby!!!!
Twice in 2 weeks I have bought Melitta ground coffee (the 500gm packets). On the shelf the price is shown as R85 (plus a few cents) but when I got to the check -out, the amount that was rung was R100.87. This happened first at the Park Meadows shop and secondly - yesterday - at ****arney Mall. Neither manager was in the least bit interested in taking the matter further (though at Park Meadows I was refunded R85.00 at ****arney it was less for some reason). I find it hard to believe that this is an accident - meaning that PnP is doing this deliberately in the hope that customers do not check their bills. This is happening at more and more stores and not just Pick n Pay - at Woolworths it's even more common.
I very recently bought a pack of 'Kenyan Single Origin' coffee capsules. The package (containing 12 capsules and costing about R70.00) is labelled "Compatible with Nespresso Domestic Machine'. However I want to say that they are NOT compatible and, if you put them in your machine you are risking a burn-out. Water just doesn't get into the capsules properly (or out - as coffee) and so the machine keeps trying to force it through and could, if left, burn out. I'm taking mine back today and recommend that no-one else buys these!
For about 3rd time in as many years I took a quantity of batteries and light-blubs down to Mica Eastgate. I have been encouraging them to recycle these items (which they sell large quantities of) for some time. So they directed me outside where there were indeed four containers - for paper, plastic, glass and tins! One of the staff members said - No, you put the batteries and blubs in there and then they'll get sorted....<br> It upsets me that very few companies in SA are taking recycling at all seriously (though Woolies and Pick n Pay do it in a half-hearted sort of way). And Mica COULD be leading the way but they choose not to. I can't understand this. It would be great if someone senior from Mica could respond. Oh, by the way, the staffer at Mica who 'helped' me said that they \couldn't get"suitable containers for batteries to be recycled and that's why they don't do it!"""
