Had a flight in May 2025 which were delayed for 24 hours, submitted a claim for expenses incurred that we were told could be claimed back. Submitted the claim and got an approval email on the 18th of May. It is now 6 months later and claim has still not been paid out. When I email customer care I only get a response that they are busy processing request. Unbelievably unprofessional service. Would not recommend flying with them!

I recently had to fly to the UK on Virgin Atlantic. At the boarding gate I was refused access to the airplane due to my Visa having the wrong date (which was not their mistake). The staff of Virgin Atlantic were very helpful and immediately booked me on the next flight. They assisted me in making a hotel booking for the night, help me through the airport to reclaim my luggage and took me to the hotel transport pick up. The lady from the airline waited with me until the hotel transport arrived. They were really amazing in assisting me through a very traumatic experience which through their efforts made it less so. Thank you to the Virgin Atlantic Staff in Johannesburg - you are great!

I have been flying on Virgin Atlantic consistently, and have tried to allocate the flights to my flying club number. It refuses to link the two. I have spoken to the call center a number of times and they say its corrected but isn't. It would seem that the flying club is just a marketing ploy

I always admired Richard Branson and he’s achievements and decided to book flights through Smart Fares with Virgin Atlantic. Big mistake. Firstly, I selected a route, option to change my flight, option to select an aisle seat etc. and paid the specified fare which I found was astronomical. I received a call from Smart Fares telling me that the flights were not available and after trying to make out what this person was saying as he could barely speak English, I accepted an itinerary only to find that all the other items that I had selected and that were included in the price were s****ped and the amounts added to the fare. I was most disappointed and tried to resolve this with them but unfortunately, they were of zero assistance and I just got the run round. Now I’m receiving “changes in itinerary” emails almost weekly. I’m starting to wonder if I will ever be able to return from my trip as one day I’m flying to Atlanta, the next to Salt Lake City; then I have a short layover and it changes to a long one. Then I’m flying from Atlanta direct to Johannesburg and a week later, I return via London. This is unacceptable and one cannot plan one’s trip or getting to airports etc. if things change all the time. Could someone kindly look into this and give me a call so that I can understand what’s going on and how this works? I find it unprofessional and highly disappointing considering the name and brand. What is going on? These are my booking numbers: Flight reservation code: 104168 Virgin Airline confirmation no.: *DH6Z9L # Delta Air Lines: *H2EUI13 Ticket number: 9327231977406-407. I would appreciate clarification and an explanation regarding my concerns and confusion. Many thanks Maria Grazia Valenti

I have flown with VAA several times and it's always been a reasonably pleasant experience (long haul flights are drag no matter which airline it is!) and I've just booked to fly with them again this year. Although I tried for a week to book online I was unable to do so as the payment section of the website refused to accept my Johannesburg postal code!! Very frustrating. So I gave up and called them and was assisted by a friendly, efficient, apologetic staffer who did everything necessary. I did email in a complaint about the website and though it took VAA 4 days to respond they did email and said they would look into the issue. All in all, I feel reasonably happy with my 'experience' thus far. Fingers crossed for the flights!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Scrolled through all previous reviews and I can’t even say I was shocked about all the negative reviews. I thought Delta/KLM was bad but Virgin Atlantic takes first place in being the worst airline. I’ve been struggling for weeks now trying to get any form of communication from them, no response. Such a lack of people skills and service. This is just awful. I really don’t even know how you’re still operating when you never answer the phones to speak to your PAYING customers. I definitely do not recommend them to anyone. They are unresponsive and ***********. They are so bad at doing their jobs they didn’t even reply to any complaints.
