SA Post Office

SAPO ***** behaviour
I ordered a T-shirt from overseas on the 2nd Jan 2026 and the item cleared customs on 29 January. I expected that it would be couriered to my address but later learnt that it was possibly at the Post Office. I went to collect the parcel on the 20th February although no notification had been sent to me that the parcel was there. I arrived at the Randburg Post Office at about 09h40 and upon arriving at the counter after a short wait, I was served by Ms Martha Matsaung. It took her and the manager roughly 20 mins to locate the parcel, thus by then the queue behind me had grown quite long. I was then presented with the manifest which reflected that I owed an exorbitant amount of R2580,42 on an item that I had paid US$22,50 plus US$11,99 in shipping thus a total of US$34,49. Due to the long queue and the fact that I had already been at the counter for 20 mins, I elected to pay the amount. Upon producing my credit card, Ms Matsaung advise me that the card machine was not working and I should go to ATM to get cash, which I did. When I returned and presented her with the R2480,00 (she did not ask for the 42 cents) she reacted with Shooo! Perhaps she expected me to abandon the parcel but I was determined to get my T-Shirt. On reviewing the dubious manifest, my order and the packaging of the shirt together with contacting SARS it was clear that there was a big mistake or possibly something more sinister going on. I am awaiting a response from SARS and I thought it prudent to bring this to SAPO’s attention as well

Capetown-Outfitters

Beware of these ************ people.
Absolutely disingenuous business. Show an AI photo of their shopfront in Cape Town which does not exist. They pay for adverts to draw you in and then sell you products they source from Temu. In my case I paid 8 times as much as the same product from Temu. The shipping is obviously from China so delivery takes several weeks, although you are led to believe the product is in stock in Cape Town. It gets worse! I ordered size 10 shoes and they sent a size 8. When it came to exchanging them, they wanted me to pay R300 for shipping for their mistake. No physical address, no phone number most likely because they are actually in China so National Consumer Commission can't touch them either.

Fruugo - Dog Show
Ordered some specific decals for my motorcycle as per their photograph. Eventually received decals unlike their own picture and for a different bike. On querying this they said they were out of stock for the ones I ordered so just sent something similar. I requested a refund, they offered 3 Euros I declined, they then offered 5 Euros when I had spent 21 Euros. Never ever use Fruugo, they make errors and accept your money but will never refund.

Discovery Health

Vitality trumps Doscovery Health
Discovery Health's agenda is to push Vitality as number one priority. I asked them to cancel Vitality and they confirmed that as of end November it would terminate. Paid for my health plan and they confirmed that medical cover was up to date. Two days later, receive an SMS saying medical cover is suspended due to non- payment? On checking, they had allocated R359 to Vitality putting my medical in arrears. Absolutely scurrilous corporate greed? Or severe ineptitude whichever, it is deplorable.

Pathetic Steers Dainfern
Absolutely disgraceful service. Ordered online for delivery, order was accepted and debited from my credit card. 45 minutes later I tried to call three times to follow up on the order. Everytime they just put the phone down on me.

These guys give DSTV a bad name
Got a telephonic quote on 23 Feb to instal an Explora decoder, R650. When they came to do it, I explained telephonically what I wanted done which involved moving a decoder into another room. I accepted it wasn't a straighghtforward installation and would thus cost a little more but was astounded when I was presented with a bill for R1800 after 2 hours. When I phoned the DSTV Connexion office to get an explanation, Johan undertook to investigate and get back to me. An hour later, his installers were still lying on my couches and refused to leave without payment. As I was not there, this was all being relayed to me via my son, I eventually just paid them to get them out of my house. Although they are in my area, I will never use them again, poor service and appalling attitude.
