I am still not convinced that your driving algorithms always make sense. Today you penalised me for ‘cornering’…I was going as slow as I could without causing frustration to other road users. I was going down a hairpin turn at around 40km/hr. Would you rather next time I get out and push the car down the slope? I am questioning the effect this app and penalties have on healthy driving habits. As a result of this, I will think twice before abruptly stopping at an orange traffic light…I will lose points for severe braking you see, but skipping an orange/red light attracts no penalties. I do however realise that this is merely a game, and if I am ever unfortunate and need to claim, that it will he smooth sailing, because after all it is insurance for a vehicle and not just fun and games.
I recently activated insurance on my vehicle through Discovery Insure and a device was installed according to their requirements. What I don't understand is how drivers are penalised for 'severe' braking events. I can appreciate that they want drivers to be alert and encourage you to keep a safe following distance as well as be mindful of your surroundings so that you can be able to react to situations in time. But what if you do all of those things and something unpredictable happens and the only way you can avoid it, is by braking 'severely'? Points are deducted irrespective of the reason for braking. Do they expect drivers not to brake 'severely', even if it could have prevented a collision, or running over a child dashing into the road from behind a parked vehicle.
I was offered a three month Vitality trial, which I did. I decided not to activate Vitality after the three months trial and then I noticed that the Discovery Miles which I accumulated, 'locked'. The only way I can now get these miles converted is to open a Discovery Bank account. Nobody explained how it works but now it is too late and if I don't open a bank account with Discovery, I forfeit these accumulated miles. I've been receiving poor service from Discovery intermittently, as if they are doing things half measure, offering products and then not being able to back it up and their only goal is for you to buy into more Discovery products. The website is user-unfriendly, no way to contact them via email, only whatsapp or call-centre and you can spend a lot of time on the phone to them trying to find the right department or someone who can assist efficiently.
They are in Paarden Island, selling a wide variety of olives, oils, vinegar etc. I love the olives and sundried tomato, it is bursting with flavour and so easy to prepare a meal using it, just add pasta! Tried the chimichurri olives today and just had to buy a tub of that too. It is available in various sizes and affordable. Very good quality and service.
The Checkers app stopped working on my phone a few days ago. I submitted two queries but have not received any reply yet.
The best Mexican Restaurant in Cape Town! The food is delicious, the service is good and the prices are reasonable. The vibe in the restaurant is great to celebrate any occasion and they have a special venue if you have a private function.
Recently I ordered pizza in the shop at Romans Plattekloof and in stead of waiting went to buy a few things at the shop close by. I did not think it through so my arms were heavily loaded with shopping (no, I did not think of using a trolley either...bad planning). Realising I'm not going to be able to carry everything to the car which was parked quite a distance I asked if I could leave it there and come back to fetch the pizzas. I was speechless when one of the assistance offered (with a big smile) to help me carry it to my car. She is a lovely and very friendly woman, I regret not getting her name. Their pizzas are always delicious and topped with friendly and efficient service.
Service was friendly and efficient from the moment we arrived until we left. We had the sushi buffet. The food was delicious and we will definitely go back to try some of the hot food on offer. Lots of parking close-by.
When I came back home (SA) in 1999 I left the balance in my Lloyds account thinking I might go back to the UK. Now 20 years later I am trying to get that money transferred to my SA account. Communicating with the people at Lloyds is an utterly frustrating and unpleasant experience. They do not listen to their clients. The bank insist on using the postal service which might be working efficiently in the UK, but SA postal service is slow and unreliable. I've told them this at numerous occasions but they just copy and paste the same answer i.e. that they need the originally certified documents send by post or delivered to the bank. I am currently in South Africa, and not planning a trip to the UK. The Covid pandemic is also not helping this situation. Where it would normally take post from the UK about 3 - 4 months to reach me, it now takes double that time. The bank posted their response in a letter format end of February 2020 to the documents I sent late January 2020 - I received that letter in my post box on 11 September 2020...SIX months later! Irrespective, they insist on normal mail. I am so frustrated and annoyed with their complete ignorance of my situation and total inflexibility to the challenges of getting a letter to them and receiving their letters. The money in my account is not that much and trying to get it transferred will eventually cost more. But what can one do? If you do not comply with their requirements, they simply don't assist you. My wish for them is that they receive the same kind of service in their private matters as they are giving their clients.
Apparently Scalzini's (Monte Vista, Shop 90B, Joe Simon Centre) has been around for about 2 years but we only recently tried it for the first time. We had the Vegetarian and Buffalo Chicken. Delicious pizzas, bursting with flavour, reasonably priced and friendly service. We heard many good reviews about the ribs and still want to try it. Next time you want pizza, skip the main stream pizza places and treat yourself to a Scalzini's pizza.
