In 2021 I've reached out to the SPCA the nearest one to us is Kimberley cause I discovered that cats are being killed in the cruelest of ways here in Upington. This after my daughter brought home this small kitten one night that was wandering in the street and some boys wanted to stone it to death. So I took the kitten in. After that day I became more aware of the issues these little animals are facing since growing up we've only had dogs so I never took an interest in them. That's when I saw the need for someone to step in so I did and I took in more cats. Problem came in I'm not working and where I stayed the person staying with me didn't like cats. That's why I reached out to the SPCA asking for assistance cause I wasn't just gonna walk away and leave these animals to fight a battle they weren't winning. The one in Kimberley told me that in order for them to be able to assist me with these animals I need to drive them all the way to Kimberley bear in mind I'm unemployed. They gave me a number that I've contacted and I did send an email as well and was informed by the liaison officer of the SPCA head office back then. I must remember that the SPCA isn't a government institution kinda like you people just want everything for free. None of them ever assisted me in helping these poor animals in fact I got the message that if you're an animal in South Africa and you're not in an area where there's an SPCA don't even bother expecting help from them. I went as far as telling these people that I've been taken to court by the person I stayed with cause she wanted these animals out and I was refusing to let them die in such a cruel manner. Not even that caused the SPCA to assist me so I went through hell and ended up on the street all cause I was trying to help these animals. That's when I saw this might be the reason no one ever tried helping cause you're literally alone up until I met Christine Maritz but there's really just so much she could do. I'm really deeply disappointed in the SPCA and the fact that they're not making it clear that they only help animals in areas where they're situated cause if it's advertised in that manner everyone will be aware not to ask for help if there's no SPCA. I'm now in an area and yes I still have cats where dogs are being mistreated so much so that I stepped in and was threatened by grown men. Reason why I was threatened cause I now took two dogs in and when they bark inside the yard they get thrown with bottles an stoned cause they're making noise. It's not just grown ups doing this even children are so I'm fighting everyday with someone. Some of these dogs are in terrible shape you can actually see their ribs and when it's storming outside they're left in the rain. What gets to me is I don't even know why people around here have these animals if they're so mistreated cause they don't even feed them. These dogs are in the streets the whole day looking for food and I can't help them cause I'm still unemployed and the little I do is nothing. This is the first area I stay in where dogs bark 24/7 and also fight a lot cause some of these owners walk in the street with their dogs not on leashes. There are even pitbulls that's are walking around like that with their owners just today there was a case where a pitbull attacked another dog in their yard. The other day two pitbulls was outside the yard and one of them fought with this really sickly dog and everyone was standing watching and I ran to them cause I saw he was gonna kill that one. He's still a young pitbull so I managed to seperate him from that one with the broom stick I had. Dogs in this area are being neglected and abuse and no one cares not even the SPCA cause I'm sure they'll give me the same story like they've been doing since 2021 there's no SPCA in Upington. So I need for the SPCA to please make it clear to the people of South Africa that the only animals you help are those in areas where you're situated.
I've been complaining about these same issues to Shoprite from 2022 so hopefully this time around they'll take it seriously. Back then I took it up twice with them and I've been understanding and give them time to fix this. Till date it's still the same story and the last time I was there was actually worse cause on top of that I got word that said it expired the 05th but by the 04th when I took it out of the freezer it was green so that works was anything but fresh. My main problem I've with Shoprite Upington is that they don't respect or value their customers. Back in 2022 I was told that 300 new trolleys were order cause none of the trolleys in there is user friendly. You've to push and pull at the same time just so that you can do your shopping. It's 2026 and I haven't seen a single new trolley from 2022 so where are these trolleys or was it just told that so that I can keep quiet. My other issue and this has become worse is the fact that they're sticking up when you're doing your shopping. Bear in mind this store is not that big with a lot of people especially over month end and then you've to be even more inconvenienced cause the workers are now stocking up. What annoys me the most about this are their attitudes it's like as a customer you're in their way not the other way round. You literally can't move cause they're just all over the place merchandising everything on extremely busy days. And please don't come tell me that the store is very busy cause so is Checkers and Pick and Pay and I've never experienced any of these horrors with them. The last time I was there that place was filthy I even saw a ****roach whilst waiting in line and to think this is a place where we go to buy the food we eat. To me the fact that I was told that I will never experience this in this store again and I'm still doing so in 2026 shows the lack of respect they've towards me as a customer and I've really tried to be patient with this but this is simply unacceptable. Let's also not forget some of the cashiers and the yawning on the counter whilst they're busy helping a customer and why are there still no packers cause that and the fact that there's more tills than cashiers are the reason why you can end up standing I those lines for more than an hour. And to think I've actually complaint to their head office the two times I did complain and here we're.
I did send my daughter yesterday to buy a few things for me at this specific store which included tomatoes. She bought a 1kg Spar freshline tomatoes pack which to my disappointment was all rotten so after throwing the first few away thought it was the heat I had to throw it all away. My question is don't you check the quality of the products that you sell to your customers cause this is really just not on. I'm really tired of having to deal with this kind of nonsense specially here in Upington. Get to a point where you realize that when you say something is fresh let it be cause advertising a product as fresh and getting this is called false advertising according to The Consumer Protection Act which I wish people working with customers would fami****ize themselves with. O e or two rotten ones I can understand but a whole bag that's not on.
In June 2025 my mother went to the Lewis Stores branch in Upington branch number 1103. She bought a wardrobe and bed from this store bear in mind she's 79, illiterate and can't hear that well so they took advantage of that fact. They sold to her a display bed which isn't a new bed cause people any and everyone that entered that store either sat or laid down on it cause how are you gonna know what it feels like if you don't. It took them some time before they delivered the wardrobe cause they apparently we're busy assembling it.In September she went back to the store nails in hand to show them the wardrobe they took so long to assemble is falling apart. Nothing was done and so my sister went back to them again to ask what's happening and instead of assistance was told if they're not satisfied they should call the 0800 complain line for Lewis. They decided to wait and give them a chance to fix this and still nothing happened so my mother decided she's not gonna pay for a deflected product cause the back part of the wardrobe is now wide open and since she can't use it why pay for it. So in January this year she asked me to give the complaints line a call which I did and two weeks later the complaint hasn't been resolved. Instead Simonay spelling this under correction called my sister to threaten her that her area manager whose name I've asked for but couldn't get said they must go fetch the wardrobe since my mother is refusing to pay until the issues has been resolved. When I called the complaints line I explained to them that when they sold my mother this wardrobe they were well aware of the fact that it's not fixable. If it was they would've fixed it in September already when she went there for the first time to complain. Yet he still went and give instructions that they must send out someone to fix something that they know can't be fixed. They sold her this wardrobe cause they knew she was old and illiterate so they thought they'd get away with it like they did with other people cause I've heard a lot of horror stories around this store and now I believe each and every one of them cause here we're experiencing it ourselves. Now back to Simonay if that's the correct way of pronouncing it but I'm sure she knows who she's that called my sister. According to her the area manager said there's no way that the wardrobe is gonna be replaced for an actual new one. The fact that I contacted the head office means nothing cause they are also just ordinary employees like they're in this branch and have no sat only her area manager has any say in this matter. According to my knowledge the Consumer Protection Act which I'm sure this store and their area manager knows knowing about clearly states that a customer has the right to request that a deflected product be replaced or repaired to their satisfaction not your company's. Which in this case you didn't do cause the person that you did send out to "repair" this wardrobe had earphones in and never even asked my mother if she was satisfied he just brought the same nails and put it back in and left. So now my question to you is this so is it your style at Lewis Stores to bully old and illiterate people,also it's not about customer satisfaction with you but as long as Lewis is satisfied with a wardrobe that's literally falling apart you'll pay for it. Already you're taking 630 from the 2000 grant she's getting now you wanna force her to pay for a deflected product as well. And on top of this when I spoke to the agent who's been dealing with this complaint for two weeks without any progress now. I was informed he spoke to a senior manager at the store who is now blaming my mother for this wardrobe falling apart cause apparently when they went there to look at the wardrobe it was pack to capacity. She's 79 how many clothes can she have to break a wardrobe in two months time seriously this is bullying on another level. Lewis Stores so this is what you stand for this is your vision and your mission and these are the service standards and service that you're portraying. Worse customer service I've never experienced in my life and I'm just waiting for the outcome of this complaint before taking this to the Ombudsman.
What should've taken three days for delivery hasn't been delivered for the past three weeks. Worse part is this company is calling me a customer even did send me a statement for a product I've never received. They've been running around in circles and no one can give me an answer as to why they ****. Just a question as far as my knowledge goes it's falsely advertising to advertise three days and you haven't delivered three weeks later according to The Consumer Protection Act. And since there's no resolution I'm planning on taking this further cause MTN took my money and didn't deliver any kind of service or product. I regret doing business with them cause clearly they only care about sales and no service at all.
This has been one of the most horrific experience dealing with this company who MTN uses to deliver their products. I've ordered a router three weeks ago which I still haven't received. First week got a message the delivery driver is on the way apparently he got lost cause he never showed up. Week two I had to enquire and a driver eventually shows up and asked me for directions and also if I've my documents ready which I did. Cause when I was called by DSV in Johannesburg I was informed to have my statement and ID ready for the driver and that I should also allow him to take my fingerprints which I said was fine. And then along came the driver called and after hearing I didn't have copies he refused to hand me a a delivery that I've paid for. So now I wanna know who and what gives you as a company the right to refuse my package when I had the requested documents. Also you can scan fingerprints but not documents how ridiculous is that. Honestly I hope that I never have to deal with your company ever again cause this isn't service at all.
Seven days ago I've app**** for a 5G router through the online services provided by MTN and I've paid for it in advance. Now what annoys me the most is that they stated delivery takes 1-3 days and seven days later I'm without a product I've paid for. No one even bothered calling to check if I've received the router or am I satisfied with the service I've got. What's annoys me further is that on Wednesday I've received two messages early in the morning stating the delivery driver is on the way but I guess he's lost since two days later he's still on his way. I don't wanna any excuses cause if there was na issue or a problem your company could've contacted me the same way they've contacted me to say that they've received my payment. One thing for sure this is one business relationship that's gonna end as soon as it has started cause I've noticed they're more interested in sales than service forgetting there's no sales without service. MTN truly is a terrible company to do business with and I regret ever even considering joining them.
Please just pass me the details where I can lay a formal complaint against Pick and Pay Customer Care. They're the worse bunch ever no respect for customer definitely no care or no service at all. And this for a head office extremely poor service received from them regarding my complaint that's never been resolved w
Their overall customer service is terrible they give you a reference number when you complain about their service and that's it you never hear from them again. I'm not referring to a branch here I'm referring to their head office so it's understandable that their beaches are performing which ever way cause they're lead by the poor example head office is setting. I've even went as far as send customer care an email with the reference number like they suggested I do and guess what there's just no care or no service at all. Well done pick and pay for a head office you truly set an example one you can't even be proud of.
Pick and Pay Upington doesn't respect me as a paying customer cause this is the third time I've to complain about their service.
