Good and bad in general, but when bad happens, it happens bad. Right now I'm sick of their marketing emails and inability, despite my efforts, to unsubscribe. Their phone call marketing (despite strict instructions on every call to stop phoning me) still happens from time to time (FNB is far worse in this regard), but I keep getting emails from ABSA about loan offers and their reward program and keep following their instructions to email unsubscribe@absa.co.za, but this DOES NOT WORK! I keep getting annoying advertising emails regardless of how many times I email their unsubscribe email address (4 in the last month, and I still receive 1-3 marketing emails per week). Overall ABSA is better than the other big banks in SA on many levels in my opinion, but being unable to unsubscribe from frequent advert emails is an annoying issue, and as far as I'm aware, *******.
I first used them around 7 years ago, they replaced my middle box in my Tiburon while I waited and I was very happy with the professionalism, price and work done. I mentioned them to a friend recently and he said he had work done (a free flow I think) on his Corsa well over 10 years ago and was also very happy. I went there this past week to try diagnose a problem (uncertain if the exhaust system could be the cause), ended up not being the exhaust, but again received professional assistance and advice from George. I would definitely recommend them to anyone :)
I ordered Thursday morning, Friday was a public holiday so I only expected to receive the order on Mon/Tue, however to my surprise my order was delivered in under 6 hours (from Centurion to JHB) the same day! I'm also very happy with the products and pricing.
They've called me to market to me 3 times now, the first 2 times I insisted they take me off their database and don't call me again, but they still persist. I've never used them or even phoned them before, no idea how they got my number.
Fantastic service, whenever I've had an issue it's been quick and easy to get hold of them. Today my fibre line had a fault, reported it to RocketNet easily and Vumatel was here and fixed my fibre line within 2 hours :)
They allow ****mer drivers to continue operating and don't provide sufficient support or take action against *****ulent "drivers". They make it near impossible to find the way to report and issue and the drivers know this. Perhaps it's different in other countries, but in South Africa, drivers are using Bolt as a method to **** people out of money and nothing ever comes of it, and the drivers know this. They either never pitch and you pay cancellation after waiting ages, and/or they say they've picked you up and charge you for a ride you never took. It's small amounts every time but it adds up and wastes time. This happens on a shocking percentage of trip requests. Such a nice and fancy app, can't they add in features to tell when the driver is intentionally messing someone around (I'm a developer myself)? 2 mins away for 10 mins or drives the opposite direction, says they picked you up but didn't stop at the pickup point, no red flag? Tonight was my last straw, I messaged a driver "on his way" for far too long and he blatantly rep**** that he's not going to pick me up and I must pay the cancellation fee (then he drove around on my tab without me in the car and I couldn't order another ride). I got a refund but shouldn't have to go through this, waited 40 frustrating minutes before I finally got a genuine ride through Uber X, then another 20-30 mins at home searching around options to finally get my refund from Bolt.
Met him at Fairmount Bowls Club where he played pool competitions, he convinced me to pay him R3300 up front for a laptop and he's been dodging me ever since! Every time I get hold of him, he says he's going to drop the laptop off later the same day and never does (it's been a month). He's ****med others too.
Easy to use online portal, reliable and speedy deliveries and collections, at great prices! I've booked around 100 deliveries and collections so far without any issues.
On average I've been happy with Uber (only reason for 2 star review and not 1 star which this incident deserves) but have just learned just how easy it is for drivers to get away with *****ing things. I ordered an Uber package delivery for a computer part, biker said his bike broke down and I couldn't get hold of him through the Uber app after that, took it up with Uber and they said the driver insisted "there was nothing found in the vehicle". After some back and forth messages they said I'd have to subpoena Uber in USA for the driver's details to take it up with local law enforcement (not worthwhile for a R900 part). The driver gets away with theft scott free, which is disgusting of Uber to allow in South Africa.
They gave me much lower pricing than any other insurance company ever has, and were easy to get hold of, friendly and helpful throughout the process. I would suggest reading and understanding the policy carefully as there are some catches (like possible triple excesses) but I decided it was worth the very low premium. I had amazing help from everyone I dealt with, especially Lynique via email.
