Vodacom at its worst best again. So our home fibre setup hasn't worked properly since inception. So I complain – some pleasant gentleman come to the home and so-called sort the issue out – nothing changes, in fact, now the connection is worse than before. So, I'd buy a business package – and so during last week they deliver a new router and on Friday passed a pleasant gentleman arrives to activate the router – however, the router cannot accommodate the telephones which were connected to the old router – the pleasant gentleman hangs around for more than 4 hours trying to fix the situation – but he can't – so, eventually I tell him that I need to work and that he needs to find a solution and return – well, 4 days have come and gone – I inform the installers to whom vodacom subcontracts the installation and configuration – and I inform the company/on seller that arranged the business package – no response, except for that the problem with the telephones will be escalated – and so, now I receive an SMS from vodacom indicating that the sale is complete, ostensibly meaning that everything works well – and nothing works well – I'm still on the old system – and now vodacom will start charging me for the business package as well – so I'm paying for 2 packages – it's all just beyond useless.
Our VW vehicle had to be serviced today; we live in Durbanville in the Western Cape, so we had more than one option in terms of which VW dealer would service our car. We chose West Volkswagen in Brackenfell/Kraaifontein – and the service we experience was absolutely outstanding, from making the reservation to collecting the car after the service – and the service consultant that looked after us, Lizwi Veto was absolutely outstanding.
Station motors is an auto body shop in Stikland in the northern suburbs of Cape Town. As a septuagenarian, I have unfortunately had opportunity have my cars worked on in various places in the country. This business in Cape Town is the best auto body shop I have had experience of in the country. Their work is absolutely outstanding and the service is excellent.
Vodacom fibre is really useless. We have had Vodacom fibre for years now – and there has always been a problem – then it’s off and then it’s intermittent and then the Internet signal is weak and whatever. Our computer specialist looked at the router that they installed – he says it’s *******. We run on 200 MBPS and now we’ve tried to upgrade to at least 500 MBPS, and now they tell us they can’t do it in our environment. In any event when they sold us the 200 MBPS, the cost was just over R1000 per month plus VAT – last month, without informing us – they just increase the cost to almost R1700 per month?? And on their website, they are advertising 1000 MBPS for the same amount as what we are now paying for 200 MBPS –?? So yesterday, I tried to phone Vodacom fibre – get through to the call centre – passed on from one call centre agent to the other – ‘I can’t help you – I’ll put you through to somebody else that can help you’ – this happened 3 times and then I just cancelled the call. Went on to their website – it told me to talk with their chat bot – an absolute waste of time – 1st I had to wait and wait and wait, because their chat bots were busy – and then the chat bot couldn’t help me. We are just gatvol
We have just submitted a claim for our vehicle which was damaged by a storm water drain cover during the recent floods in Cape Town. The service from SANTAM is just excellent! – As always before!
During last week we bought an additional Weber apparatus, a small bottom of the range portable gas barbecue. (I think it is called Q 1000) (we are not new to Weber products, and we've had several charcoal fired kettle braais during the past 3 decades or so, but we needed something small just to fire up if we had a sudden inclination to barbecue something for just the 2 of us) Somehow, I failed to get gas to the burner and hence contacted the Weber offices who then referred me to Marc , their colleague in Cape Town. I called Marc, sent him some photographs and then he decided to visit our home on 2 occasions in order to sort the issue out. His customer service was just absolutely outstanding, and I just want to commend him and Weber for such excellent customer service. Cape Town is sometimes slow on customer service (our experience since the 'semi grating' here more than a decade ago), but Marc and the service we received from him and Weber was absolutely out of the ordinary. And by the way, the product is great quality – I looked at several slightly cheaper models – all quite flimsy and 'tinny’ and even ‘blingy’ – so I decided to pay more and buy decent quality - Weber.
On 15 December 2022, I had reason to take my sick 4 year old granddaughter to the doctor. It was after hours and so we visited the Mediclinic in Durbanville. We registered Kimmi as a patient and then waited – 1 hour and 35 minutes later we were still waiting. I then enquired (admittedly in irritated fashion) what the delay was; the staff at reception were clueless, except to say that there were 5 or 7 emergencies – they first said 5 and later 7. • It’s not their fault, it’s management’s fault and then of course the doctor in attendance. I walked into the area containing the cubicles in which the so-called emergencies were lying, Kimmi (my granddaughter) being one of them – on the way I passed the office of the doctor on duty – he was sitting behind his desk writing on some documents – so much for the emergencies. There were other irritated parents as well who had also been waiting even longer than we had been waiting. I had an altercation with the doctor who failed to provide any cogent reasoning for the delay; my sense was that his shift was coming to an end, that he was writing up his shift, waiting for his relief to arrive. Eventually a lady doctor arrived and immediately started dealing with the so-called emergencies, Kimmi being one of them. It’s all about management and standard operating procedures and protocols, almost in a supply chain mode – MediClinic in Durbanville certainly need some attention in this regard.
The Bargain Books outlet in Durbanville is really a great bookshop; the staff are really knowledgeable and can advise you when asking for certain publications; and they go to a lot of trouble to source books when they are not in the shop – and they provide feedback.
Recently I have bought a number of items from Yuppiechef in Willowbridge in the northern suburbs of Cape Town. Great shop and excellent service!
I am writing about the Pick and Pay in the DeVille centre in Durbanville. For the umpteenth time, we have purchased fresh produce there only to get home and realise that the produce is rotten once we opened it.
