Can't get a response to a claims query. Can't get help to register for a chronic medication. THE call center is a joke, calls are never answered and agents don't return calls and/or don't follow through. Profmed needs a real wake up call. I get hugely better claims service form Dotsure for my dogs.

For a medical aid claiming to be for professionals, they have very unprofessional ways to treat their members. I have trouble on the app, and if I can't register, they won't pay. I have sent an email to the email provided on the app on 21 January 2026 and never got a response. This seems to be a trending problem with Profmed. Nothing gets done unless you phone and fight and threat. What a pathetic excuse of a medical aid for "professionals"

I have been a member for some 40 years and I am on the hospital plan… normally the hospital plan covers in hospital procedures ONLY… But when I had to go into theatre in hospital to have multiple extractions and dental work they say such things are not covered by the hospital plan and that I would have to have it done in the dentist chair presumably under local anaesthetic. The surgeon insisted that this required a general anaesthetic in hospital given that the operation was complex took 100 minutes… if they tried to do that in a dentist chair in a normal surgery , which is covered they say by my medical aid hospital plan, it would’ve risked my life… So 40 years of payments with no claims for in hospital procedures, when I needed Profmed the most they let me down badly… disgraceful, disgraceful disgraceful

On 27 August 2025 I sent this email: "Good day I am extremely frustrated! A few months ago I sent an email regarding the Digital Face Scan which I couldn't get to work - since then crickets!! I've tried again today and the same problem - a frozen white page!! Then I tried to use the Wellness App and that is defaulting to No Pending invites, with no way to login. Another glitch? It would be a useful service if you published what is not working and when these issues are likely to be fixed." Since then the same issues have been raised, referred and escalated a number of times but still no solutions appear!!

"Your enquiry has been referred to the Systems, Support and Development Department for processing and feedback will be provided to you as soon as possible." One month later and no response - follow-up messages just get the same response!

I have been a member of Profmed (Member 68112) for about 40 years. I currently belong to their ProActive Plus Savvy fund. PROFMED changed the names of their "hospital cover" some time ago and I upgraged to said scheme a year or two ago. I knew from the onset that I have to contribute to hospital costs should I not choose a hospital defined as a Savvy listed hospital. However, PROFMED's website disclose that said fund cover ALL costs of procedures done in a hospital. I have sent e-mails to PROFMED since 27/10/2025, requesting information on said plan, as the pre-authorization mandated by PROFMED indicated that PROFMED would cover only 34% of the costs carried out in hospital and would not cover the costs of a "*****th" machine to be utilized by the doctor during the procedure on my wife. Needless to say, PROFMED has not responded to my requests for information, despite disclosing to them that I have to take a decision before 17/12/2025 given PROFMED's deadline to move to another scheme. I am terribly disappointed in PROFMED for not responding to my questions nor, given their refusal to cover the costs of the procedure to be done in the hospital, to possible misleading information published on their website. My take is that PROFMED MUST disclose the procedures NOT covered by their hospital plans to afford members an opportunity to take informed decisions. If PROFMED discloses they cover 100% of procedures in hospitals, they must do so, otherwise they mislead people who think they are covered, only to find out they are NOT covered. At this stage, it seems that I may have no other option to reconsider being a member of PROFMED, despite to it not being my first choice, given the fact that I have been a member of PROFMED since 1990.

The measure that this "scheme" will go to not pay accounts is second to none. From the Principal Officer down to the call centre there is a avoidance of any responsibility (Not that there is even a reply). The patient in question has been with Profmed Medical "scheme" for over 20 years, now that she actually needs care, they blatantly disregard the accounts of the Doctors who so diligently are caring for the patient.
