Pathetic customer service from the salesman and the VP / salesman. These people seem to judge people by appearance. We walked in there on Saturday 22 February 2025 and asked for a specific car as we my girlfriend wanted to purchase it. The salesman first says his closed. We asked to see the inside the vehicle and started the vehicle and we're bothe checking out the features. When we requested to go for a test drive then the salesman "said that the insurance only covers until 12pm and it's 12h40pm".we requested that the application papers bee sent via email and all morning there has been issues. My girlfriend requested to purchase it in her business name and then was advised it's not possible as she needed some document from the traffic department The thing is that she purchased a abkkie for the business and was not advised that is a requirement. 2nd red flag..then when I called in today I asked why can't she test drive the vehicle? I was told that she first needs finance approval first,so Saturday the salesman **** to us. So if they can lie about that what else are they lying about?

I bought a car in January from this compony. It came with a roadworthy certificate. The price was not negotiable. The Sunday after the Friday, the car didn’t start . Something wrong with the ignitian. This happened twice in two weeks. I am very unhappy about this deal As I was under the impression that I bought a reliable second hand vehicle. I will be careful to recommend this dealer. A month later, there was a rattle at front wheel. We took it to mechanic and he said that there is a massif oil leak which had to be fixed immediately. The front and back shocks need to be relplaced. Less than 3 months later, the car stopped in middle of road because of nut which connects the wheel with the breaks fell out. This was the initial rattle i heard. Where and how did this compony get a roadworthy certificate if the car is in this syate. None of these things were communicated with us. I am 54 and have never had so much trouble in a span of 3 months. I would think twice to buy any car from them again.

A solid 1-Star Review I purchased an Isuzu bakkie from this dealership 3 months ago. The quoted price was R259,000. I ended up paying R284,500. They added smash and grab windows which they charge me for. Added a service onto the cost as well as an 2 year warranty plan which I don’t think is legitimate. Little to my knowing the only way to redeem any form of services on your warranty plan was to take my vehicle all the way back to Strand which is far from where I live. Their so-called authorised dealer who renders any form of maintenance or repairs on your vehicle based on their ware plan is absolutely atrocious. I’ve had to return to Strand five times now, and my vehicle still isn’t in 100% running condition. When I drove out the dealership the Aircon never worked which is something that they should’ve checked being a dealership who buys and sells vehicles there should be checklists in place to ensure that the vehicle you buy is it 100% running condition. Not with these guys! In order to repair the Aircon they had to remove the dash when they put the dash back in place were many rattles and they clearly didn’t put it back together properly. I’ve sat for 6 days without a vehicle in attempt to get my bakkie back up and running properly. To make it even worse I realized they use secondhand parts if anything goes wrong with the vehicle during the warranty period. If the part that they ordered doesn’t fit they just make a plan, how’s that? To put the cherry on the pie, when the warranty provider last worked on my vehicle my airbag light came on he told me no it’s fine just keep driving it will turn off! After investigating and speaking to proper mechanics the fact that the Aircon light is on means I don’t have any bags in my vehicle so they let me drive off without airbags! Anyway, I wish I read the reviews before my purchase. Hopefully, this saves you a lot of pain and you make the right decision.

I would like to bring the following issues under your attention regarding the Mercedes ML that I bought from Somerset cars. Shaun was given to me as a referral from he’s Father in law, I took he’s word moving forward regarding the sale of the vehicle as he said it was he’s Wife’s car and there was no issues with it at all. He then send me about 8 pics and that was it and then later after he said he will get all the small scratches and things done before he will send me an video. We continued with the deal with Chanel who was an excellent sales and finance lady who I found was an excellent help thru this whole deal and up to now. She delivered the vehicle to me with Cobus upon my arrival at the airport where I made the deposit of R110700.00 on the 13 May 2022. At the airport I scratched the rim as I left the airport at the exit. Spoke to Shaun and told him about it and I then told him I am going to drive to Johannesburg to give it a good run to see if all is in good order with vehicle, I then had loads of time to familiarise myself with the vehicle while I was driving and stopping. 1, I noticed there was a rattle coming from the front right wheel and I did report it to him while I was driving, he then said that fine just make a list of everything and we can sort this out upon my return, I did make myself very clear from the beginning that my time at home is limited and while he has the car before I take ownership that these things had to be done. 2, I have also noticed at that point that the temp gage was going up and down the whole time, Me being a pilot I do keep an eye on the gages all times the same as when you fly. This was also reported to him while I was driving and he again said we will sort this out upon my return. 3, During my trip I the noticed the scratches on the right side mirror, the crack on the right back bumper light and scratches on the bumper, white and the black part, window rubber was torn on the inside, scratches on the door silver paneling, back number plate came of, front number plate *****s were rusted that was holding it on, inside right air vent broken fins, back boot cover harken loose, black strip between driver and back door was bend open, gas pedal silver flap came of, scratch on the right front pillar top side, wipers reported to be old and needs new, 4, During the trip I then also had minor damage myself in parking lots a scratch to 2 rims and damaged the back left small bumper light, front left bumper trip scratch. This was then reported to him also. All pics was send to Cobus and Shaun and I was told to bring the car back when I return. At that point I told Shaun that I’m busy and we decided to do all the work when I depart on my next rotation offs****. I dropped the car of at Somerset cars and Shaun and myself went thru the car and we documented everything with Cobus writing it all down step by step and I took pics as we went thru everything that needed attention, Shaun told me it would cost around R4500 for my damages and it’s not worth to claim as I also did not have any top up insurance at that stage. It was presented to me by Chanel and I was still deciding what to take. I left the ML at Somerset cars, also asked them to get me a quote to service the car as the light came on to show that service will be due soon. They took the car where it needed to go and the quotes never came. Somerset cars had the car in their possession for 4 weeks in between their revered panel shop and their revered service centre. When it was all done Shaun said that he will make sure everything is according to he’s standard that he will not make the same mistake to let the car of he’s floor when not die properly. Again I took he’s word for it. Chanel informed that the car will only be delivered to my premises when full and final payment for the panel shop spray and service is done. I then paid the amount of R7100. 5, Right now the car has gone back to Mercedes’ Canal walk for water pump failure, solenoid, and back brakes. It will be there for a week, I am not happy with the vehicle in and out of the garage all the time and therefore I would like Somerset Cars to keep the vehicle. This was the letter to Shaun and he never replied. The car was taken back by him and I had a los of R70k. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS DEALERSHIP OR WITH SHAUN, HE IS AN ARROGANT BULL****TER

Unfortunate ending. They got their money and then didn’t mind handing over a car with the driver’s floor carpet missing. At first they lied about it ever having been there (we saw it when we test drove it as it had a special button design). After first lying to try to get out of it they finally admitted that it will cost too much to add in the missing carpet which should have been there in the first place. I consider this unprofessional bad service and exactly the kind of feeling - no matter how small - thing you want to avoid. Try a different car dealer as they obviously don't car about anyone after they received their money.
