This store is conveniently located ,easily accessible and have a great range of products for every day living. I've purchased cold beverages from this store last week for lunchtime as our province heatwave struck us good. With friendly faces and good customer service, this is a recommended store. They have a wide variety of products and everyday low prices and specials for the customer on a tight budget.

Dear Spar Hunters Retreat Management, I am writing this email out of sheer disappointment and frustration regarding the shocking experience my family and I had at your store. On Sunday, 18th of January 2026 @ 16h38pm (around about), we intended to purchase 2 Energade Nartjie 6 Packs for R24.00, as advertised on a promotional page stuck on the fridge window. The yellow label directly under the 6 Packs reflected R13.99, which reinforced our understanding that the combo promotion app**** to the 6 Packs. Based on this, we even contacted friends and family, who transferred money to me so we could purchase 4 x 6 Packs. However, when we reached the counter, the cashier rang up the items and the total exceeded R400.00. When we queried this, the cashiers immediately became rude, insisting it would “NEVER” be that price for 2 x 6 Packs. One cashier even sarcastically remarked, “IMAGINE”, which I found extremely insulting and unprofessional. We returned to check the fridge and confirmed that the yellow label indeed reflected R13.99 under the 6 Packs. My wife approached the Manager on Duty (who wore no name tag) to clarify the matter. Instead of assisting us respectfully, he responded with sarcasm, dismissing our concerns and stating it would “logically never be that price.” He further explained that there were no loose Energades available, which is why the 6 Packs were placed there. This explanation does not excuse the misleading placement of promotional labels, nor the unacceptable attitude displayed by both the cashiers and the manager. To add insult to injury, I had to refund everyone’s money, incurring additional banking fees due to this misrepresentation. We are loyal customers who shop at Spar Hunters Retreat daily, yet the level of disrespect, sarcasm, and poor service we received was disgusting. Misleading promotions and rude staff are not what we expect from a store we support so frequently. I demand that this matter be investigated and addressed immediately. At the very least, I expect an apology for the misleading signage and the unacceptable behavior of your staff and manager. If this is how Spar Hunters Retreat treats loyal customers, we will seriously reconsider where we spend our money in future.

The online shopping service is appalling and the customer service on 0860323141 is none the better. For more than three incident, ke stock that's available online suddenly becomes not available after payment. Then one is told that your refund will be done in 7 days. I tried calling the customer service number and no one takes the call.

Went to hunters spar Port Elizabeth the other day so I decided to get some fresh garlic and ****** and by the way definitely not fresh at all every single piece was mouldy I had to search and search for decent pieces, so I broke the garlic open because I didn’t want any mouldy pieces , the fruit and veg employee decided to shout across at me saying I can’t do that in the rudest way possible thinking that she is my superior she proceeded to tell me that she will get the manager so I told her do that , as I was paying the fruit and veg manager decided to corner me at the tills to tell me in front of the cashier and customer that I’m not allowed to break open the garlic because other customers will weigh garlic that’s underweight, I don’t know who would just take a single piece of garlic if the scale says whatever you are weighing is underweight, spar hunters Port Elizabeth has the worst possible customer service they don’t know how to handle the client with respect and how to be discreet.to think they expect customer to pay for rotten mouldy food

We bought pork meat at Spar Hunter PE on the 19th May 2023 on that sunday when i wanted to make the pork i found a magot in the pork i contact Spar immediately Manager told me that he will have the butchery manager contact me. Butchery manager told me he needs to investigate not sure what he needs to investigate as i send pics and video of the magot crawling on the pork chops. This is not the first time ive bought rotten meat. But what i cant understand meat was packed on the 19th we bought it the 20th. Now im still sitting with contaminated meat in my fridge at least sealed good. We always use spar to do daily shopping but i am very disappointed in the service lately. Going to report this to the health and safety as this is not right we stay out on smallholding and to drive all the way there to bring in meat is nit exceptable.

I recently downloaded the new Zosa app & placed my 1st order for delivery today from Hunters Superspar, a store I've never used before. After completing my order, I realized that I had made a mistake. I called the store as I could not edit my order due to the two hour cut off time frame for alterations/cancelations. I was asked for my number by Nasiphi & was told she would contact me when she received my order. Not only did I receive a message confirming she sorted it out, but I was contacted with the closest option if any items were out of stock. The few extras I requested through WhatsApp was also added, with no problems & superb customer service by Nasiphi. My order was delivered a bit late to the time frame I entered on the app but considering my messups.... The driver went through each item with me checking the slip. Everything was sanitized up to the pen & card machine. He even took a few minutes to advise me on features of the app so as to make my next order easier. Hats off to Hunters Superspar & their wonderful employees. They'll definitely see me again
