Last night, my friends and I went to Tapas for the very first time. I must say I am extremely disappointed in our service... Firstly, we waited for almost an hour just for the waiting staff to even welcome us and take our drink orders. We sat at a very visible table, and other tables around us were being served, somehow waitrons not noticing we were sitting awaiting service. We ordered food and shared our meals so we could taste the food. My chicken fillet was dry, and I feel very much that the menu is overpriced (meal and drinks for 3 people over R800) But to top it all off, shortly after we returned home, I got the most painful stomach cramps! Only to be awake and up with an upset stomach and terrible cramps all night long!!! I expect if I spend that amount of money on a meal, that the service as well as the food should be worth the while... All of us that went last night felt very much not to return as we are very dissatisfied with the new Tapas. And this is sad because we were fond fans of the Old Tapas on the beach front.

My husband and I were told Tapas Thessen Island has the best fresh fish. So we went there, and was VERY dissapointed. 3 fish*****, still frozen inside, very oily - R70. 7 pieces of 3 - 5cm calamari, also very oily - R95. A small portion of refried chips, R60. He drank a Castle lite, I had a Savannah dry. I had 2 ask twice for a slice of lemon. Service was bad. We were still hungry, but did not feel to order anything more. The bill was R320!!! DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR THE TIME!!! GET A NEW MANAGER OR CLISE IT DOWN

We enjoy good food at Tapas every time I am in Jeffrey's Bay. It is only one time that you had a special that was advertised with a free ice cream with chips and ribs that we did not get our free ice cream. The idea of sitting with your feet in the sand and looking at the sea while you eat is very good. I will come again.

I have never met such rude staff at a restaurant. Below is my review I posted on google maps as well as their response. From this response, i am extremely disappointed and will most likely never return nor recommend ever again. The Tapas I attended last night is Tapas Lapa Seafood Resturant located on Clapton Beach, Dolphin Drive, Marina Martinique, Aston Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa, Marina Martinique, Jeffreys Bay, 6332 Me: "Food wonderful but the staff do not talk to you nor do they take the right order. They messed up 3 out of 6 dishes with no apology as well as I sat waiting while my family ate their dinner. The staff did not even bother to explain why my food took so much longer. I then got my food once my family was finished. Love the sand for floor. Tapas was always my favourite place to eat as a child. But tonight I was very disappointed in the atmosphere. Food was great, everything else doesn't even deserve a single star. And to make things worse. You cannot breathe inside as there is no air flow making it hot and stuffy." Owner: "When the reservation was made, we were informed that you would like to be seated at a specific table and that we should not move the booking to any other table. There is a notice at the front door to inform customers that quality food takes time to be prepared and that we are not in the fast food industry. "

Having visited Tapas on a regular basis, we were enjoying our meal on the on the sidewalk area when the management decided to roll the blinds down, apparently due to the breeze causing trouble in the kitchen! However, lowering the blinds in temperatures greater than 30 degrees does not make sense and caused discomfort, as evidenced by a patron immediately moving to another table. I asked for the blind next to our table to be left for 20 minutes after which we would be leaving but the manager was called. He agreed to this and when I mentioned that this was all I asked for and that we were on the same page, he got aggressive and rude. I was insulted as well when I said that, as a local resident, I frequent the restaurant regularly and have never experienced such an attitude. Never again will I set foot there.

To the manager on lunch duty on 30 December: Your attitude explains why you will always just be a manager and why you will never own the place. You are a disgrace to your profession. You should first check with your clients before making any changes to seating arrangements etc. Basic management......
