They hired a waitress who had to work for her first three days for free, over a busy weekend. After the three days of grueling work, she came back on day four, (transport costs money) to start her actual pay earning day and informed her she is no longer wanted. She demanded to know the reason. The Manager there, a Charmaine, would not give the waitress a valid reason or any reason. They could have done this on day three at the end of her shift. I have heard similar reports from other people about the underhanded use of free labour at this restaurant. Its absolutely shocking that they could treat a single mother in this way. I hope she takes them to the CCMA.

We took our first drive through to Gordon's Bay since my childhood this weekend. It was stormy but beautiful. Unfortunately Pino the manager refused us entry into The Thirsty Oyster Tavern because he would not allow access to my service dog. It was storming outside that afternoon and we inquired whether we could be seated far away in the corner of a mezzanine area and where out right and rudely refused. My dog is a trained seizure support dog and was wearing his vest and my medical details. I produce my ref number and the medic alert details for him to inspect and well as doctor's ref. We were rudely told that they do not even make an exception for guide dogs and also that in Pino's opinion epilepsy is a lesser disability . I am currently experiencing some medical changes which have caused more incidents than normal over the past month so having my support granted access is a deal breaker for whether I can have a day trip. Very disappointing end to our day trip . The restaurant looks like a great place. I however wouldn't recommend the manger at this restaurant for any business. He was small minded and rude. He spent more time telling us about his hospitality qualifications than having a look at the scope of the access rights or any of the information that we offered him and trying to find a solution. On our way back to the car we were approached by a local gentle man who also has a service dog and he told us that it is an on going struggle with this lovely restaurants management.

Food was really just ok but attitude of waitress sucked

10% service charge added on for a table of 5 or more

One should have the option to reward good service or not.

Would not have tipped on this occasion but was forced to due to their policy.

Not worth the visit

I was chased out (shouted at to: get out!) of the bar area because my pants were wet from a kayak trip in the ocean and dripped (minor) onto the tiled floor. What if a customer spills their drink, do they also get scolded because the contents of the drink will ultimately end up on the floor? I have never been in such a situation and it was totally uncalled for as well as totally degrading and disrespectful.

On 3/01/2016 I wanted to make a booking, but I was told they were already fully booked. However, the manager went the extra mile to accommodate us and even got us a table on the upper deck as requested. The service was excellent and the food superb. Definately recommend this restaurant.
