Misrepresentation of Vehicle Condition by Certified Dealership Dear Sir/Madam, My wife and I purchased a Ford EcoSport on 26 May 2023 for the amount of R229,995.00 from Automark Market Toyota Culemborg (now located at the V&A Waterfront) in Cape Town. This dealership presents itself as a “Certified” dealership, publicly advertising that all vehicles undergo thorough inspection and are approved as certified vehicles. In February 2025, we tried to trade in our vehicle with another car dealers and after an inspection by Dekra, we were informed that the vehicle had previously been involved in an accident, and due to this, the dealership declined to proceed with the trade-in. The manager at the dealership, pointed out visible signs of the accident damage. Furthermore, we were able to contact the previous owner, who confirmed that the vehicle had indeed been in an accident. We raised this matter with Automark, Mr. Paul Browne (salesman) and Mr. Fabian Walker (branch manager), who both claimed they had no prior knowledge of the accident and reiterated that all vehicles are inspected and certified at the time of sale. They offered to replace our current vehicle with another to the value of R190,000.00, the estimated current trade-in value. However, after 6 months of searching for a suitable vehicle, the dealership was unable to find one. We then escalate this issue to the principle of the dealership, André Breytenbach , who agreed on replacing the to the same “value” of our car of R190 000.00 After 7 months , Automark have still not found a suitable replacement.Although we agreed on on R190 000.00 we are losing more money as the longer they take to find a vehicle, the more the value drops. * We purchased the vehicle for R229,995.00, and the replacement value is significantly less. * Due to the undisclosed accident history, we are unable to trade the vehicle at any dealership, significantly diminishing its value and usability. We believe we were misled in the purchase and are now left with a vehicle that does not meet the certified quality and integrity we were promised. Our request is simple and fair: we seek a full refund of R229,995.00 to enable us to replace the vehicle and purchase a safe, reliable car for my wife. We kindly request your feedback and assistance in resolving this matter. Yours sincerely, Raymond and Bev Robertson 0835705773

I have purchase a Toyota corrolla quest 2018 Model from Honeydew halfway toyota, a pre-owned vehicle on the 23 February 2024. On the 03 October 2024 the battery was not working anymore when I took the vehicle to Honeydew Toyota they said to me am reliable to replace a new battery. I was confused to how did a vehicle who is less than 10 months old, it's battery is dead. I then called Automark SA and they said to me that the battery is the one that come with the vehicle from manufacturer in 2018. Be careful if you want to purchase Toyota Automark pre- owned check everything before signing because no one will explain anything to you even if you have a problem 3 days after purchase you will be on your own.

I bought a Hyundai IX35 from automark in Menlyn, 2 months later the turbo wasnt charging anymore. Took it back, car stayed for 2 full weeks at the dealership. They only reset the 'check engine' light. The car gave same error 2 days later, and was told to source out an autoelectrician close to where i stay (Vanderbijlpark). Took the car to Hyundai in Vereeniging, and the car was diagnosed and same problem as Menlyn toyota was picked up. So when i contact the sales personnel whom i was communicating with, they're now playing hide and seek. Had to pay for myself, mind you, R10 000 was the quote. I am disappointed and saddened by how i was told of the "Automark" warranty.

More than six months ago I approached Schalk at Toyota Ficksburg to purchase a left side bonnet bracket for a Toyota Fortuner 2009 model. He said that they do not have the part in stock and that he will place it on back order. He took my name and number and promised to phone me as soon as it arrives. I waited and waited but not a word from Schalk. I then decided to go to Schalk every time that I go to town, which was more or less every two weeks. So every time he checked on his system again and said it was still on back order. What amazed me is that EVERY time he again asked for my name, number and which side bracket I needed, left or right. I was very surprised because it seemed to me as if he did not keep the information on hand. During that period I must have visited him at least 10 times over several months with no luck. All along I told him that it is VERY URGENT because it is only a matter of time then the right side bracket will also break because all the strain is on it. Then around six months after I ordered the part from Schalk I took the vehicle for a service at Toyota Ficksburg on 11 August 2022. The booking was done with Thelma. On 26 August 2022 the vehicle had to go in for extra work. I also spoke to Schalk and he said they received the bracket but had no answer when I asked him then why on earth did he not phone me. I asked Thelma to let the mechanic fit the bracket as well. But here comes the fun part...... when I went to collect the vehicle Thelma told me that unfortunately they received the RIGHT side bracket!! This after I told Schalk a MINIMUM of 10 times that it is LEFT! So here we go again with a back order....... So I waited...... On 10 December 2022 my fear became true and the right side bracket also broke because of the strain. On 12 December 2022 I went to Schalk and asked him if the bracket is STILL on back order because the other bracket also broke as I predicted. Here it comes......... he said they did receive the left bracket in the meantime but that he has sold it to someone else because it was just sitting on the shelf!!! Again no answer as to why he did not phone me!! He then checked if their other branches have stock and he said that Ladybrand has a RIGHT bracket but that he must place a back order AGAIN for the left bracket!! He said he will contact Ladybrand NOW to have the right bracket delivered to Ficksburg and he will phone me immediately thereafter to tell me when the bracket will be there. Did he phone me? OF COURSE NOT!! On 13 December 2022 I contacted Thelma and asked her to tell him to phone me. So he phoned me..... I was very surprised because by that time I was convinced that he has no idea how a phone works! He said Ladybrand did not have stock but that Bloemfontein has stock and it should be at Ficksburg that same afternoon of 13 December 2022..... and that he would PHONE ME. Did he phone me? OF COURSE NOT!!! Today is 18 December 2022 and of course not a word from Schalk. I have never seen such blatant incompetence and “don’t care a damn” in my entire life!! If that person worked for me he would have been unemployed today!! So Toyota head office.... can you please ensure that I receive left AND right bonnet brackets for a Toyota Fortuner 2009 D4D 3.0 4x4. The colour is white. Also let someone else deal with me because I am DONE with incompetent Schalk. Also, I don’t know who will pay for the right bracket and installation but it would not be me. I would pay for left only! I suggest you let Schalk or the Ficksburg branch pay for it. Please also take note of the following..... IF ANY FURTHER DAMAGE ARE CAUSED BECAUSE BOTH BRACKETS ARE NOW BROKEN THEN TOYOTA WILL BE HELD LIABLE FOR THE DAMAGE! Unrelated to the above matter I have another complaint. On Thursday 15 December at 8:35 am I contacted Thelma and told her that I need very urgent help because something is wrong with one of my wheels, it was buckling and the problem could be serious. Thelma said that she is not at work but that she would let Alice know and that Alice would phone me. Did Alice phone me? OF COURSE NOT!!! Not a word from Alice since 15 December. On that same day I took the vehicle to a private mechanic to fix seeing that Toyota Ficksburg is on their own mission. I really don’t know what is going on at Toyota Ficksburg but it seems that there is ZERO control, ZERO accountability and ZERO responsibility.

I saw a vehicle which had not arrived at the dealer yet and submitted an enquiry 3 times before a Mr Jean Van Wyk called me back. There was even a place to "reserve the car for you" which I also submitted twice. Jean told me he would call me on Monday, 24 Oct. He did not call. I called him on Tuesday, to be told the vehicle would be in on Thursday or friday of that week. I called again on Friday only to be told that it was not going to be in until the next week Thurs, Fri but would I like to go through so he could look at my trade in vehicle. I told him it was a distance from me and I would do it all at once when the car was at the dealer. Tuesday, 1 Nov I notice the car is no longer on the website and I call him, he ignores first call, then tells me he is with a client and will call me back. He does not call and I again call at 1.30pm. He then tells me he has 'just got into the office and I am on his list, but the car has actually been sold by one of the other agents who took a large holding deposit. I asked why I was told the car would be in the next week friday and he told me it came in very, very late on the Friday. Honestly shocking service and he has done nothing but lie to cover his own skin!

Contacted Malmesbury Toyota regarding a vehicle they have advertised for sale. I was contacted by their salesperson (Gerrit). After advising him that I would have to book flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town, he assured me the vehicle was in prestige condition, and that I would have no issues. Thereafter he advised me by email that his colleague has a finance application on the vehicle. Four days later I emailed enquiring about the status of the vehicles, I wanted to book flights - no answer. Seven days after that email, I get an email saying that the vehicle is still available, I call the salesman, and he confirmed availability. My next email to him is with proposed flight details in three days, his reply is that someone has now put a holding deposit in the vehicle. This is two hours after we spoke. My deal was I fly to Cape Town, inspect the vehicle, and if I am satisfied (as the salesman assured me that I would be), I would do an instant EFT for the full asking amount plus the delivery (by car carrier as discussed). I was only waiting on rail quote to see which was feasible. This was a done deal, but the salesman opted to not ask the client after me to wait a few days more. Malmesbury Toyota, full of promises but can’t deliver. Had I purchased the vehicle, and if I had an issue with it, I can only imagine the promises I would have received then. A one star on this platform is still too much to give you. I hope the rest of South Africa reads this review so that they can make an informed decision and not put up with your s***.

Was searching for cars using your search tool. When I look at a certain car and try to go back to look at other cars, instead of taking me back to the page before I opened the car to view it, it takes me back to the initial page for me to input the search criteria AGAIN. THAT'S IRRITATING!!!
