Uj has to have the worst call Centre agents😕. Been calling from Jan till today I don't get assistance. They keep sending me an old bank confirmation letter. The lady I spoke to today was so rude. And I still don't have the document.

I am writing this review out of complete desperation and frustration with the administrative services at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). I am a graduate of UJ, having completed both a National Higher Certificate (240 credits) and a National Diploma (120 credits). For my registration with SACE (South African Council for Educators), I need to prove that my studies total 360 credits. UJ holds the records confirming this, yet the Registrar's office refuses to issue a simple letter on university letterhead confirming this total. Instead, they are forcing me to pay an additional R688 to SAQA to verify documents that UJ already has in their possession. This administrative bottleneck is preventing me from obtaining my professional educator certificate, directly hindering my career progression and livelihood. It is unacceptable for UJ to refuse to help its own alumni with documentation they hold, forcing unnecessary expenses on us. I am pleading with UJ management to resolve this issue and provide the necessary verification letter immediately.

I am extremely disappointed with the administrative processes at the University of Johannesburg. I have been requesting my academic transcript since last year, as I need it to further my studies, and this matter remains unresolved to date. Initially, I was informed that I owed outstanding fees. I was later told that I did not owe anything. Now, in 2026, I have been informed that I owe R30 to access my transcript. Despite this, when I requested the bank details to make the payment, I received no response. Due to these ongoing inconsistencies and lack of communication, I have been unable to progress with my studies. It is unacceptable that such a minor amount and repeated administrative errors can block a graduate’s academic and professional advancement. I find this situation deeply frustrating and disappointing, and I expected far better support and efficiency from a leading academic institution.

The Department of Medical Imaging, specifically Diagnostic Ultrasound, runs its own show - outside of UJ's policies. Rules are app**** according to how deep your pocket runs. Nothing new though, welcome to SA.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service I received from Mr. Thami Cele in the University of Johannesburg's enrolment department. His patience, attentiveness, and willingness to assist were truly outstanding. A standout experience compared to my previous interactions, it was a pleasure to engage with someone who genuinely cares about providing support - 10/10 to Mr. Thami Cele.

My son made a payment online 3 months ago for the last subject in his degree, there was a Paygatr issue and the funds never reflected, we had to then make another payment so he could do the final subject. After numerous backwards and forwards sending bank statements, calling emailing etc. It was confirmed in writing that they have in fact received the first payment and would credit his UJ account. He now needs to register for his tax modules - a SLP and low and behold - no payment credited on his account. We actually have an email from one of the people in the finance department saying he must not worry they will make sure he is registered for the SLP and he has the proof of payment received. Now the SLP registration date is closed, and no response from anyone at UJ. This is ridiculous. Are we just supposed to write the money off? I am furious! How must my son go about getting his money and starting his SLP. We have dozens of emails and made i don't even know how many phone calls, and now are getting no response. This is *******!!! And playing around with someone's future. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
