Lorna your are amazing
I decided to go and donate after my night shift, I was tired and hadn't eaten.. The team leader Lorna took real good care of me.. She allowed me to have a snack before I donated blood, she followed up by checking up on me to make sure I was okay.. What stood out for me was the way she welcomed me, she had a beautiful smile on her face and she was professional, courteous and warm.. She is indeed an amazing human being.. Thank you Lorna from the Long Street Blood center in CBD

I decided to go and donate after my night shift, I was tired and hadn't eaten.. The team leader Lorna took real good care of me.. Blood vampires
The person I called to change my details, told em about a blood clinic between 3 and 7pm today. I took the afternoon off work, to drive there, only to be told per phone call that plans had changed and that they were at the Netcare hospital till 3.30. I drove through here, only to be told I cannot park anywhere except in the paid parking lot. I did not have my wallet as I drove JUST to donate blood. So I guess they dont really want blood ? The nurses were unfriendly and unhelpful. Please dont bother me with calls and emails requesting I donate, again. Afer over 20 years, this was a slap in the face.

Incorrect billing
I'm currently not happy as I think western cape blood transfusion services has incorrectly billed my medical aid for my premature baby that's still in hospital. My medical aid covers all blood services at unlimited in hospital and according to the claim status email I have received it shows that benefit limit has been reached. I'm almost certain that the billing was done out of hospital when it's actually in hospital. I am under alot of stress as all the bloods required is for under weight and sized premature baby that's just been an entire colon removal .I honestly do not have the time as every waking moment involves me at work and hospital. I'd like the matter to get looked into now before making a bigger issue when it could actually just be a simple error made by accident. It happens to even the best of people. I will re look at the review staring later

Please change exclusionary gender options on form
I went to give blood a few days ago and the staff were friendly and professional. However, I noticed that under the "gender" section of the form that I filled out, there were only 2 options: male and female. Please can you change this exclusionary practice to represent people who do not fall under those 2 gender labels?

Malpractice?
I donated blood again yesterday for the first time in 20 years. Firstly, they have no record of previous donations which have to total in excess of 15. First mistake. I filled in all the forms religiously, and waited for my turn. Entered, the trailer, handed in my papers and was shown to where I could choose which arm to use. The sister that cannulated was friendly and professional. Some time later I was approached and asked about my answers on the questionnaire. Yes I had basal cell carcinoma surgery in Feb. Only to be told that I could not donate within a 3 month period as "this could cause a recurrence" Never heard such hogwash in my life - it isn't systemic - its skin cancer ON THE SURFACE. I asked so how much blood had they already drawn - 300ml which would be thrown away. Not used for plasma - nothing - just discarded. So much for recurrence of the BCC? I am furious! Why did I bother to fill in the questionnaire if no one was going to read it! Why cannulate then draw 300 ml and then told donation could cause a recurrence! Had I not JUST donated? Is a recurrence only for amounts over 300ml? This borders on medical malpractice! I look forward to seeing a reply
