Very disappointed. Called and placed an order for collection. My husband collected the order but we should have just left the order and not paid for it . I ordered prawn and salmon pieces and when he arrived they advised there is no prawn.The whole platter was salmon. Terrible service and we should have been notified in advance as we traveled far to get the order. Done with this place

Last night I took my girlfriend to Yamada Sushi in Rivonia to celebrate a special occasion. In all my years and travels I have never been so disgusted with the atrocious attitude and lack of service shown by the staff. Not one waiter could be bothered to assist us, must be amazing to not give a damn for a customer. To end such an appalling experience we were charged R150.00 for a R45.00 glass of white wine. We never got to celebrate what was supposed to be a special occasion. I cannot emphasis enough the atrocious attitude of the staff and strongly advise people to avoid Yamada Sushi in Rivonia.

Last night I took my girlfriend to Yamada Sushi in Rivonia to celebrate a special occasion. In all my years and travels I have never been so disgusted with the atrocious attitude and lack of service shown by the staff. Not one waiter could be bothered to assist us, must be amazing to not give a damn for a customer. To end such an appalling experience we were charged R150.00 for a R45.00 glass of white wine. We went there today, 10 October 2021 at around 12pm, given menu's and having to wait for the waitress to serve us. We proceeded to order the buffet special. We had a few plates of sushi when while eating we discovered a hair in the vegetarian California rolls. I proceeded to take the plate as is to the manager who looked at me with a smug face ad started laughing. He then took the plate to the sushi counter and had a good laugh with one of the sushi chefs before looking at me and saying "We don't have hair like this here." He laughed again before I asked him why he thought we would put our own hair in the sushi then rolling his eyes and walking away. I have never in my life experienced such awful management in a restaurant. I have been a restaurant manager and this was such a joke to witness. Not only is the management awful but the lack thereof means the service is atrocious as well. We wanted to have such a good experience with good food and we were just met with awful service and nothing done about the complaint we tried to make. Utterly disappointed and will never be returning again.

This used to be my absolute favourite sushi spot in JHB. I moved away a couple of years ago and was SO excited when I got to visit this weekend JUST so I can go to Yamada again, and get THE best sushi. I have never been soo disappointed and shocked at how much the quality has decreased. It's now my least favourite sushi spot. The sticky rice was the consistency of pap, and all mushed together to the point where it did not even look like rice at all. I could not see a single grain of rice. Everything was also too big, granted if it tasted better the extra size would have been amazing, but with the taste and the size, everything was just awful. We spent R550.00 on sushi and only had 3 pieces because we could not get the rest in our stomachs the taste was just soo bad. Yamada used to be packed with clients, and always had a trendy vibe. But when we got there on Sunday they were empty and I asked if they are closing. I did not get why they were so dead quiet, after experiencing the sushi I now get why they are quiet. I am saddened by how the quality has decreased and will never eat there again.

UberEats order - Yamada Roof - misssing avocado - and improper packaging (food arrived in one big container so it moved around etc) ... this has happened twice. The manager wouldn't even apologize the first time and said customers have to specifically ask for the avo - I asked the second time around as well as asked for proper packaging and both requests were ignored. This is specific to Birnham - the other Yamada in Rivonia is perfect.

what a disgrace! every single time i order - EVERY DAMN TIME - you mess up my order, charge me the full price and give me food that i either didnt order, or you forget half of my order! how on earth are you in business! you are revolting and i clearly never learn! i will NEVER order from your disgusting establishment again

I was in the Waterfall area today and decided to treat myself to some sushi and dumplings. I came to my old favorite, Yamada in Waterfall. Upon arriving we were the only customers so we were seated and then just left alone as the staff laughed, joked and screamed across the restaurant at each other. As some of you may know, they have the standard sushi selection and then the specialized sushi range which has items such as 4x4, Super Volcano, etc I decided to try the Super Volcano as it looks delicious in the picture on the menu so I ordered it. It arrived and I couldn’t help but notice that the sushi looked nothing like the picture in the menu. According to the menu it was meant to have the orange mayo on top with caviar. I asked a waiter if I can please have the sweet mayo like the picture, the waiter grabs my sushi plate and waves it in the air while speaking to the sushi chefs in vernacular who are now shouting that the sushi doesn’t come with mayo. The sushi chefs then snatch the floating sushi plate and dump normal mayo onto it and the waiter dumps it onto my table. I also ordered dumpling which were quite tasty but when I asked the waiter if it comes with a dumpling sauce, she shoved vinegar at me and walked off. By this point, the restaurant was filling up and we were just completely ignored blatantly nobody would even give us the bill. It should be noted at this point, besides the waiters and chef, we were the only brown people in the room. The level of attitude is ridiculous and quite frankly customer service is non existent. I used to love coming here but I will not let my meal come with this amount of rudeness. I am beyond irritated and will tell literally everyone I know to never ever come here again.

<p>I had my handbag on the floor next to me inside the restaurant and it was on the side against the wall. Not sure how but one minute it was there and the next it was gone. The restaurant was very unhelpful, the manager did not come to appologise or assist in any way. When my friends noticed that there were security cameras we asked the waitress if they worked. The waitress replied that they did work but the owner doesn't know how to rewind it. We then responded that they must get someone who knows to come so we can see. They said they were calling someone but no-one ever came. Who cares if the sushi was nice or not because that kind of customer service is pathetic. I will never go there again.</p>
