Good luck with your claim, it is impossible to get hold of an operator, you have to listen to a sales pitch for about 5mins and then you still do not get connected, tried about 4 times. I have sent numerous emails, provided all the information requested for a ****** mobile phone whilst in London on the 28th April 2023. I urgently need to replace this phone for business purposes, the claim process is tedious and lengthy. It costs a small fortune to have the cover and then it's impossible to get a claim through. I don't recommend AIG

AIG might have the worst customer service in SA. Getting hold of them , whether you want to buy travel insurance or have a query about the travel insurance already bought, requires hours of time , hours of cell phone minutes and the patience of a Saint. Written queries are simply ignored - you get an automated reply saying the query will be attended to in 5 days and then there's a big black hole of nothing.Telephone queries are an absolute joke - I have just held on for 30 minutes, eventually running out of air time. There is one lady, Bester Moyo , who does her absolute best to help - but she, I fear, is working in a sea of understaffed, non responsive people who really, really don't care at all about the customer experience. Come on AIG - My family holiday was cancelled because of the travel ban , I took out insurance with you , show me some respect and answer my emails or answer your phone line.

I have had my flights cancelled, accommodation moved and struggling for cancellation and 90 day VISAS paid for and not used since March 2020, due to the COVID 19 pandemic. I sent the paperwork With all email correspondence etc at the end of March to AMERICAN INSURANCE GREEDY’S(AIG) and they respond on 14 March saying they will take 5 days to respond. After 5 days I called & I get a response saying 21 to 28 days because of stalling tactics they wanted more paperwork on top of the 30 plus emails I sent to different companies asking for a refund. I again sent the docs to no response. Looks like they stole my money and use COVID19 as an excuse. I’m off to my bank to raise a dispute against all the service providers including AIGREEDYS.If that don’t work I’m off to the insurance ombudsman. Don’t get this travelinsurance, they use every excuse in the book.

I took outsold level travel insurance with AIG for the year 2019 and for 90 days in 2020. I had two events: SAA cancellation during their strike in November 2019 stranded me in Nairobi and COVID-19 means that I had to cancel our round the world trip via HK, Cambodia USA etc. AIG have delayed and then rejected my claims for very poor reasons. Whilst they stated 34 General and 9 Specific exclusions "pandemic" was not one of them. An acceptable reason for cancellations claim include: cancelling for safeguarding the insurers interest. Given that global travel has been cancelled and all my flights stopped AIG have rejected my claim as my interest was not "property". These guys are very keen to take premiums but just refuse to accept reasonable claims. They delay and obfuscate the entire claims process.

While the application process was quick and easy and they were very efficient in issuing the policy, trying to put in a claim is a nightmare! It was so bad that I thought I must have been scammed. They telephonically approved my son's medical expenses (he is traveling in America) and he submitted the claim for a refund 28 days ago. All he has received back are automated responses every time he emails them. Both he and I have tried to reach them by phone but have never managed to speak to an actual person (this is why I thought we had been scammed). I managed to track down the cell number for Sonkie Makikita (Team Manager Operations) who told me that he was "shocked" that I had phoned him on his cell phone which I think illustrates the intrinsic service problem they have. I explained my frustration and he assured me that he would follow up and get a response from the claims department. Needless to say, it's been 8 days and he has not done that. If I could talk directly to a person from AIG (any person) I would gladly do that but it looks like they have set up their business model to efficiently collect premiums and then make claims impossible.

Hi Guys, I am quite sure everyone sooner or later has the privilege to travel and needs an insurance to cover your belongings, your expensive tickets or any other risk involved against any eventuality not to mention accidental insurance during your travel. Some Airlines like Emirates or travel agencies sell such policy or that's what they claim. I bought back in July as always a cover through emirates with AIG I think they are not living up to their promises. I always sign up with them when I book a ticket on my travels overseas but it turned out to be a mistake. For the first time, I had a claim for an unlucky trip. The case is pending since July and they are using every excuse under the sky to delay the process. Yesterday the guy in charge ''James Batley'' is finally coming back to me telling me that the insurance is not even covering what was advertised to me on emirates website and their own policy. Apparently, their theft cover is not covering your luggage? It only covers your ''hand luggage''! How can the hand luggage be broken into if it is at all time with you and why would someone need that? This is not even stipulated under their own policy! What a joke. Choose a proper insurer guys, even if they are in my case a few ''Rands''more expensive than AIG. They are not worth a cent I wouldn't give them any star but unfortunately, we have to give at least 1 the way how the website is designed.
