To say I am shocked would be an understatement. On 16 March 2026, I walked into the Alpha Pharm Mid-Chem pharmacy for assistance after my Dr's appointment. This was shortly after 5pm. I handed my script to one of the assistants and to which she came back to me less than a minute later stating that Disocvery has rejected the entire claim. This to me was strange because, my Dr and I went through the medicine formulary and we discussed in detail which medications will be covered as such, it shouldn't have been a problem. Nonetheless, I was turned away. The following morning I called Discovery for them to tell me why the medications were rejected all for Discovery to tell me, that the claims weren't ven put through for it to be rejected. That under ylmy profile, no such claims reflect and the pharmacy didn't attempt to claim the medications that were prescribed. I subsequently went to a Clicks pharmacy which was much further away and I ended up getting ALL my medications as prescribed. When I returned to the pharmacy to confirm why they did not submit the claim, resulting in me spending the night with no medication and in pain, their response was: their pharmacy is not contracted with the Keycare Plus plan on Discovery, which in itself is a lie because I have received other medications before from this pharmacy but yesterday- they just refused to bother to check. I further mentioned that, the address they have on system is over a year old and I've since moved. There was not even an offer to update it to my current address. It's those kind of basic things that leave one with a bad taste and I will NEVER visit Alpha-Pharm Mid Chem pharmacy again. No one could give me a good reason as to why I had to spend the night in pain without medication when I'd come to the pharmacy to receive help and got nothing.

Alpha pharm Muron Pharmacy and clinic 110a Fischer Straat Worcester 6850 Major disappointment & a financial *******. After coming from a registered local private clinic in Worcester after my paid consultation the nurse provided me with a one months valid prescription for a prescribed tablet also stating I need to come back for a full blood test so that she can recommend me to doctors she works with in order for a longer period prescription in which I agreed fully . After inspection The nurse then directed me to this pharmacy for the tablet after she has communicated with the pharmacy I then drove there to get my subscribed medication. On arrival I presented the valid subscription to the Pharmasist. He then explained to me this is not a valid subscription but however he can help me. I was totally confused and alarmed I told him I was at the clinic and the lady called and confirmed with you my medication and use agreed His responce was yes …she but however this is not valid subscription as she’s not a doctor but I can help with this medication but at a higher price immediately Alarm bells going off in my head I then rep**** I’m confused why at a higher price if I followed correct protocols …he then explains I can give it to u under the counter me being now totally confused and alarmed and needing my tablet I say okay how much thinking this whole things sounds off he says 450rand I responded why that rediculous price for a tablet I usually pay around R150 for at any pharmacy …me being desprite I take the tablet and pay in which I have bank statement to prove my purchase. After leaving the pharmacy… I call the clinic immediately Me being disturbed I explain what has happen. Before ending my call with her I said this whole thing sounds highly *******. I even told the pharmacy if I knew all this I would of not gone to the clinic Rounding up the whole senario and my experience the current sister is not registered to give me the medication I needed in which I totally did not know in which she could of told me in the first place she’s doesn’t have the authority to give to me the sleeping tablets and other tablets Telling me to go to a doctor I would have totally understood and not waste money and resources. If I knew all this undercounter dealings I would of not gone to the clinic paying and recieving a prescription that won’t be valid at any pharmacy only to her prescribed pharmacy and being charged over 150% more for a tablet this is totally disturbing not knowing what organisation to trust these days. In total I paid clinic fees and pharmacy fees today was 700 rand in which I could of just paid a registered doctor these fees and get a 3 months valid prescription at any pharmacy for the right prices and not ***** business I’m and honest citizen with all the right intentions and getting ripped of this way 🥺🥺I don’t know who to trust these days. I don’t intend to do any harm to this local business but over charging more than 150% is totally uncalled for🥺

The service I received from John Forbes was disgusting at best. The staff employed there have no phone etiquette, no respect and are not at all educated on what they should be doing. I was prescribed a medication and before even submitting a claim to my medical aid, was told that my medical aid will not pay for it (mind you - I have a savings plan, it should be paid) when asked how they'd know, when they did not submit a claim - the person said "How am I supposed to submit a claim if there's no nappi code", so not only are they rude but they're uneducated about manual medical aid claims as well. they will not be getting any support from me ever again.

Dear [Alpha Pharm Owner/Manager], I am writing to formally report an incident that occurred on the at Murray Square Alpha pharmacy in Pinetown the 17th of March 2025 involving one of your pharmacist. This was an old white man which to me came off very ****** and rude. I believe the behavior displayed was unprofessional and disrespectful toward myself needs to be addressed as it was so hurtful and uncalled for. Upon him attending to me he asked for my details which I gave to me him in order to assist me using the system. He couldn’t pick it up for what ever reason there after he asked for my medical aid card I did reiterate that I do have a digital one but just before then he aggressively shouted like I was his child or illiterate person about how people don’t come with cards when I’m line. I did ask would the digital one not work as I always use it. How he addressed the situation was very very disrespectful and harsh thereafter I had said I had lost it when I was hijacked. Not only do these people not know what we as people go through but to give such service I actually left that place in tears especially after losing my mother the previous week. He was very rude and insolent showing an attitude of classism . Instead of giving me grace and assisting as he should he through all his emotional baggage from home or wherever on me and I did find that rather hurtful and unnecessary. that the table only catered for a certain amount of people as if we were suppose to guess such . The old whit man spoke to me in a in a condescending tone and demeaning behavior made myself uncomfortable especially in a room full of other customers and this evidently affected the overall service experience especially for a pharmacy I always use. I was beyond appalled and upset by his repulsive interaction, and other customers appeared to notice the tense exchange. This type of behavior does not align with the high standards of customer service that I believe Alpha Pharm Murray Square aims to maintain. I believe it is important for Alpha Pharm to address this situation, as it may negatively impact your reputation and customer loyalty. Respectful and professional treatment of all customers especially when dealing with ones health is essential, and I trust that you will take the necessary steps to ensure incidents like this are prevented in the future.

I bought gold earrings for my 4 year old grand daughter at Elundini Pharmacy in Maclear which is under Alpha Pharmacy 3 weeks back. Last of last week I took them back because the color was changing and I was advised that the manager was not there I must come back this week. Today I went back and the manager told me there's nothing she can do. She said there's no way that they can change the color unless the person has lot of acid. I told her its for a 4 year old and she was using the ones that were bought at Maclear Pharmacy and they are still good its just that we wanted a second pair. She was very rude and arrogant. She gave me a number for Van Staden which she said I must contact them myself. She doesn't have customer service and manners at all. She's so rude.

Clueless about their own products. I bought an Alpha Pharmacy product and there was nothing on the label and nothing included with the product about the ingredients! Upon phoning Alpha Pharmacy and inquiring about the ingredients of the medicine, and speaking to several people, NOBODY was able to answer the question. I asked why they did not include the ingredients with the product and they said they don't know why and cannot answer my question.
