I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a defect on a vehicle I purchased recently. In September 2025, I purchased a 2016 Mini Cooper from Chery Roodepoort/ Brothers Automotive. At the time of purchase, the vehicle appeared to be in good working condition. However, less than six months after taking delivery of the vehicle, the Central Information Display (CID) has completely stopped functioning. The CID is a core component of the vehicle, responsible for critical functions such as vehicle settings, infotainment/ navigation, and system notifications. Its failure significantly affects the usability, safety, and value of the vehicle. I believe this defect indicates that the vehicle was not of acceptable quality or reasonably durable at the time of sale. I am disappointed over this as the service has been good however the ball has been dropped. I need to get an urgent resolution to this matter.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this one is well-deserved. I bought a 2019 Renault Clio from this dealership in February. Within 3 months, I reported a noisy timing chain – something that should’ve been picked up in the 90,000 km service (which, by the way, was never done until I brought the car back a week after purchase). After reporting the issue, I was ignored. I had to take the car to my own service provider, who confirmed the timing chain was worn and the turbo was overboosting. Only then did the dealership agree to inspect it. They kept the car for over a week, then claimed everything was fine — despite the same problem continuing. I brought it back again. This time they blamed the water pump and V-belt, and said I’d have to pay for those to be replaced before they’d investigate further. I didn’t agree with the diagnosis or the idea of paying for parts that weren’t the real issue. When they returned the car to me, the timing chain had collapsed and the turbo had seized – they didn’t even tell me. The next day, the car was completely undrivable. They took zero accountability, and now I’m left with R60,000 in damages for a car I’ve driven less than 5,000 km. Special mention to Jacques Van Den Berg – completely unhelpful and unsympathetic throughout. Avoid this place at all costs. Dishonest, careless, and not interested in standing behind the cars they sell.

I Traded in my car in 2022 November for a pre-owned car. The car had bad braking system from the day they handed it over to me, to my surprise the car passed from Dekra same day. I took it back for service of which i only drove the car for less than 5days. To this day i haven't received the car back from the dealership. Experience with the DP is very bad.

I wish I would have read the negative reviews before I bought a vehicle from this shady establishment, as soon you take delivery of the vehicle you’re on your own. I bought a 2021 Polo GTI from “salesman” Jacques Scholtz, I was not told the vehicle had previous paint work, he added that to the delivery and acceptance forms AFTER I signed them, I only realised when I asked for a copy and it noted “cosmetic spray work”, on delivery I was told they can’t find the spare keys and I would get them the following Monday, Monday came and went, 2 weeks went by until Jacques started ignoring me, I had to visit the dealership daily and demand to talk to the dealer principals for them to finally make the payment for the keys, the used car manager Gareth has a short temper and gets agitated whenever you ask him to intervene, they then registered the wrong car in my name, it took them forever to correct it, when they finally had the right paperwork and plates they did not even apologise for the whole experience, I’d rate their customer service and after sales 0, it’s all about the sale, ONCE YOU ACCEPT DELIVERY YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

I HIGHLY recommend that you DO NOT buy a car from Brothers Automotive. Never in my life have i received such bad service and the attitude is really bad for a customer. Poor service delivery. I bought a car on the 23/04/2021. Still waiting for the service book and the car makes a sound on the left hand side on the wheel, and i have had the car in five times. Still not fixed!!!

Had the most horrible experience with the dealership. I made a commitment and deal on a bakkie with one of the salesman, I dove 400km to do a trade in and finalize the deal but phoned them a few times to get feedback and they told me on the 28th the deal will be done on the 01st and now the salesman phoned me and told me another salesman sold the bakkie to someone els. I phoned the manager and all he could say is sorry they can't do anything about it. But my financing and everything was done. Just think is horrible service. Drove 400km now for nothing

Had the most horrible experience with the dealership.
