Poor service and uncooperative manager
It was a disappointing experience. We took my mother for the breakfast buffet on Mother’s Day. Although it was a buffet, eggs were made to order, however, despite ordering, no eggs ever arrived as they had one person making omelettes for the entire restaurant and another on regular eggs. We dished our food and waited for our eggs and omelettes to arrive. Eventually we ate the bacon and toast as it was getting cold and no sign of the eggs. We tried ordering waffles but the same result, nothing! After two hours of waiting our table was cleared and we were heading for the door when the waitress brought the omelettes we ordered 2 hours earlier…. no sign of the waffles. I complained to the manager and he said there was a “delay” with the eggs as they were made to order, I think two hours for three omelettes and a plate of scrambled eggs is more than a “delay”. So for Mother’s Day my mother had a ****in and yoghurt, not exactly what we had in mind for her. The restaurant clearly cannot cope with the volume and turnover of guests and the customers are charged full price for an inferior service and food that never arrived. I would definitely not recommend the breakfast buffet at this restaurant !!!!!

The manager is TERRIBLE
If I could give it 0 stars I would!!!! On 15 May 2021 - myself and 3 friends decided to go to Cafe extrablatt for supper (our normal hang out spot) I ordered their well known pork belly with green beans and Mash, after 30 minutes I finally received my order.... Guess what? - The pork belly was over cooked and dried out , it was so hard my knife couldn’t even cut through it, I raised my concern with the waiter as this would be the second time I had their pork belly and normally its very nice, the waiter told me that’s how it is made and he doesn’t see anything wrong with it, I asked him to taste and he refused - he then called the senior manager who came to our table...I informed the manager about the pork belly and guess what he told me...HE SAID THAT THATS HOW THEY NORMALLY MAKE IT , HE SAID IT LOOKS FINE. I THEN TOLD HIM THAT THERE IS NO WAY I AM GONNA EAT IT - AFTER GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES FOR ALMOST 20 MINUTES HE ADVISED THAT THERE IS NOTHING HE CAN DO AND THAT IT LOOKS FINE. I mean come on!!!! YOU NEVER EVEN TASTED THE PORK BELLY. HE WENT ROUND AND ROUND SAYING THAT I HAVE TO EAT IT OR NOT EAT IT, I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE MEAL...I expected him to either notify the chef and replace the plate or offer me an alternative, but instead he said that he will suffer a loss if he replaces my plate or give me an alternative meal. In summary, I had to pay for my plate (R129) and only had one fork of the mash and a small piece of the pork belly. I asked him to take the plate back to the kitchen and seeing that we haven’t reach a conclusion I will not eat the pork belly. The manager has been known for having an attitude with the guests. Very unprofessional and I mean as a regular at Extrablatt I would’ve never expected this from the SENIOR MANAGER - his name is Donald The least he could of done was given me an option I think he has to go for training on how to deal with complaints. I paid for the meal without even eating it. I WILL NEVER SET MY FOOT IN THAT PLACE AGAIN! Guys please don’t go to extrablatt , clearly they have no people skills and doesn’t give a damn. I was basically told to eat the food as he doesn’t see anything wrong with the meal - I mean come on you haven’t even tried it. I’m very disappointed !!!

A bitter taste in our mouths by the **** poor hospitality and service.
On Saturday evening a group of friends and I went to extra Blatt for my Pre birthday party supper. As it was our first time visiting the establishment we were quiet excited only to be left with a bitter taste in our mouths by the **** poor hospitality and service. Firstly the host, was so rude and abrupt with us. He really made us feel unwelcomed and treated us as if we were bottom feeders. Then comes the service from the waiter. He's lucky we still tipped him after he kept on forgetting our drinks and serving other tables while taking our order. Like he would take one of our orders then run off to another table to help there while there were other waiters just standing around. He never even introduced himself to us. Then when it came time to pay the bill, because we were a group we had split the bill among ourselves 2 paid with cash and the rest with our cards. While ringing up the transactions he kept going to the table behind us not focusing on what he was doing at all and kept ringing up the bill incorrectly. What a bitter taste this has left in our mouths and completely damped our moods and we just left. The host was really friendly with the people he knew and even left people upstairs even after he told us it was full to capacity but let his friends in after he had refused us. I just feel that we were treated a certain type of way and never would I have ever thought that I would experience this personally. Never again will I set foot in Cafe Extrablatt.

Security service
Omw the security at the door was just horrible when myself and partner asked him if there are openings he literally pushed us out the door and said we can't come in the full. When we asked the waiting time for a table his words to us " do not ask unnecessary questions" I'm appalled by his behavior as i always received amazing service and hospitality from this restaurant and what made it worst was it was our anniversary... Wanted to make it special but that security killed the whole mood.

Terrible service, Terrible food, Terrible experience
Popped into for lunch at Extrablatt. I ordered the Ribs & Calamari combo; my girlfriend ordered the Ribs & Prawn special and my mother ordered the Ribs & wings combo. Firstly, the service was terribly slow (there were two other tables). When our food finally arrived, it did not look appealing, it looked as if it was just warmed in the microwave and left out to cool down, then brought to the table. The waitress assured us at it was "made fresh" (I’m no Chef but I could tell that it was not). My mother complained about a weird smell coming from her plate, and when we questioned the waitress about it, she just said it was the "homemade" BBQ sauce that smelt like that. We further questioned her about the so-called homemade BBQ sauce and she then called her manager over. The manager then agreed that the plate did smell funny and she would take it back to the kitchen. The manager returned shortly afterwards, and apologized because the wings went bad as it was made the night before (so tell me again how it was made fresh?). Keep in mind no one has touched their plate at all as we lost our appetite. We told them we did not want the food as it was not fresh at all and at this point we lost all faith in the kitchen. They apologized for the inconvenience and removed the Ribs & Wings combo from our bill but they still expected us to pay for the other two meals. Not wanting to cause a scene we paid for the bill and left. The thing that gets me the most is the fact that the owner (pointed out by the waitress & manager) was sitting 10-20 meters away from us and he did not even have the decency to come over to find out what was happening. Terribly disappointed. DO NOT TRUST THEIR FOOD!
