I am extremely disappointed with the service we received at CineCentre Suncoast in Durban. We asked the booking consultant to recommend a movie suitable for our children and were told to watch the Stray Kids screening. At no point were we informed that it was actually a concert film and not a normal movie. We paid R600+ and popcorn and drinks for four tickets. Within five minutes of the movie starting we realised it was a concert and left the cinema. We then spoke to the manager on duty who simply said it was the only kids option and offered no apology, refund, or alternative solution. We re**** on the staff member’s recommendation and feel we were misled. I would appreciate CineCentre reviewing this matter and providing either a refund or complimentary tickets for another movie. We basically paid R600+ for popcorn and coldrink and there is no way of getting in touch with you, before I take this to social media I suggest you reach out.

I purchased a bundle ticket to watch Anaconda at Cinecentre Grand West on the 27/01/2026 at 7.30pm. The bundle included a medium drink, a medium popcorn and the movie ticket itself. Expecting good service, I was met with excuses. There was only one cashier on duty and even after waiting almost 30 minutes I was still not serviced. I entered the movie cinema with no snacks or drinks even though I had paid for them. Popcorn was being prepared one box at time, the staff looked like they were running around like headless chickens. It was an utter waste of my time and money and spoiled my entire mood for the movie. No wonder there are only 3 branches left in the country, because their service lacks.

I went to a movie on Friday and the screen is too dark and it was terrible. I even went and compained to the staff and they did say that the movie came like that which is irresponsible answer. it was screen no 2 in North gate cinecentre and I wouldn't recommend this place until they fix the screens.

Avalon Group which owns and runs the Cine Centre cinemas in the country has a rule which is not only discriminatory but also ********. The full ticket price is currently R99 and they provide a discount off this price to pensioners. That is a good gesture that pensioners pay R70. However, the condition is that the senior citizen must have a Smart ID. That is to say that they DO NOT recognize the 13 digit bar coded ID that has been issued by Home Affairs. The lame excuse is that the machine does not recognize the old IDs. Is this conduct not arrogance and discriminatory? is it not a wilful disregard of the laws of the land? A call to the HO at 031 368 2007 last Thursday (31 July 2025) was attended to by a Ms Pearl who immediately herself labelled the practice "unacceptable". However, she could not pass on the phone to any senior person because the only senior person, a Mr Logan who is Senior Manager works only till 14:00hrs. He leaves his work phone behind and does not answer emails. He also does not have a set start time so the request to ask him to call me back on Friday did not happen. Ms Pearl was again requested that he phone me on Saturday (he does work Saturdays!!) but till the time of writing this review there has been no attempt to call me. She did say however, that she did check and the rule in place is indeed that only Smart ID cards qualify. When prompted that I would like to speak to someone higher than Mr Logan, it was said that Mr AB Musa the Managing Director, who is currently not in Durban is the only one. Ms Pearl knows my number and can easily arrange that Mr Logan or Mr Musa return the courtesy and explain why this rule? They also have another inexplicable rule - one can only use their Gift Card to buy the cinema ticket. But if you want a soda and popcorn, you must pay cash or card!! any guesses why?? BECAUSE the machine does not recognize the Gift card or to say that payment via Gift Card is not an option for buying refreshments. THEY REALLY HAVE OUT OF THE WORLD RULES!! While this second rule is an unnecessary inconvenience and frankly counter intuitive, it is the first matter that seriously needs to be investigated by the relevant authorities and any regulator and even by Home Affairs. After all, the possession of a Smart Card ID is not in the hands of citizens. It is issued by the Government and not every citizen has yet been issued with a Smart Card ID. To therefore disregard an existing Govt. issued document, that is otherwise, acceptable everywhere in the country (and in some cases even outside the country) only shows the respect and regard that Avalon Group has for the senior citizens of this country. This arrogance goes up several notches when there is no attempt to call back and provide remedial action.

I did an online purchase on the 8th of July for tickets and popcorn however the system crashed and error was given however my funds was taken, I called the Centre she said I will get my money within 48 hours. I then had to rebook and pay from another bank. Up till this day I have not gotten my money they make me run around like a chicken for 280r.for a big business like this, this is unprofessional and absolutely dissapointing. I have sent both bank statements, I send emails and get replies after a while. I want this escalated and I want my refund ASAP I don't care if it's 10r or 1000r it's the principle of the customer service which is dissatisfying

Good day Im very disappointed at the service i received today 2024-12-22my booking reference is PE328206 when i collected my popcorn, the lady that helped me was so rude and unprofessional, first of all i greeted her cause she didn’t greet and she asked me why do i need to have my popcorn cause we are too early as the movie was going to start to at 7:30 and i told her that i know & my child wants it and she still said it was to early frowning at me and giving me attitude, is this the service we are expected to get at CineCentre Suncoast? No guys you can do much better on customer service. This is ridiculous and not accepted to be treated like this. I than asked why is she frowning at me and she said sorry which is not acceptable, customer service is everything. Please deal with this urgently we cant be treated like this. I wanted to add more things but I ended up not adding anything as i was ****ed.

I am writing to express my disappointment with the condition of your cinema. On October 22nd, which was my wedding anniversary, I took my wife to Suncoast for a meal and a movie. We had booked tickets for a film showing in Cinema 7. Unfortunately, throughout the entire movie, the roof was leaking, making for a very uncomfortable experience. The popcorn we purchased became soaked, and our clothes were drenched due to the leaking roof. We reported this issue to the staff at the counters, who mentioned that the cinema had been closed the previous day. They took our details and assured us that management would reach out to us. I have also reported this incident online and on Cinecentre WhatsApp line, However, we have yet to receive any feedback.

Before I start I would just like to mention that I do not have any problem with cinecentre or any movie houses in general. Their movie experience is very good and I do enjoy going to watch movies at all our movie houses, irrispective of which one they are. They are all equally good. My only complaint is their refreshment station. The movie houses only want the customers to only buy from the their refreshment station. We are not allowed to buy our refreshments from outside the movie area. That's fine. That is their right. The problem is their prices are way too high- nearly double what the supermarkets and tearooms charge. And their cooldrinks taste like imitation cooldrinks. Movies these days are already very highly priced. A family of 4 will have to fork out probably about R400 plus just for the movie. And then come the refreshments. Movie refreshments about an extra R400. You buy the same stuff at the supermarket for half the price. I know that there are still quite a number of people who will still buy their refreshments at the movie house but there will also be alot of people who won't because of the high prices. I am one of those many who will not buy from the movie house refreshment station. I'm sure that alot of movie goers have snuck in their own refreshments just to save money. And for those who are unlucky enough to get caught probably have to forego their very pleasant evening of entertainment. All because the movie houses are more concerned about profit than the customers entertainment.
