Based on recent customer reviews, Curemed receives strong praise for individual consultants such as Bianca Derks, Neil, Adriaan, Damian, and Anastasia, who are lauded for professionalism, patience, and knowledgeable guidance on medical aid options and claims. However, a recurring pattern of negative experiences highlights poor post-sale follow-up, unresponsive communication during emergencies, lack of meaningful advisory support, and failure by management to return promised callbacks. POPI Act compliance concerns and unauthorized debit orders were also raised, suggesting significant operational gaps that undermine client trust.

Based on recent customer reviews, this business delivers a consistently strong customer experience anchored by outstanding agent quality and rapid communication. Customers frequently name individual consultants and praise their friendliness, patience, and professionalism. Recurring praise is given to claims and roadside assistance, though a vocal minority report frustrating delays, rejected claims, and poor transparency around premium increases.

I joined curemed in 2024 which was sold to me as assistance with medical aid issues and bills especially when incapacitated. In December 2025 I was diagnosed with brain cancer after an emergency crainotomy. I have since been on radiation and chemotherapy directly on my brain. Curemed has refused to become involved in blatant disregard of the Medical Schemes Act when dealing with the medical aid they recommended in 2024. Mind you in 2024 their advertising mentions the POPI Act but their establishment doesn't even have a simple consent form in place as a disclaimer. As a financial institution they are professionally negligent. I sent an email to them questioning this process in January while undergoing treatment and to date the manager Celeste Van Rooyen has not had the decency to reply. I have logged a formal complaint with the Ombudsman. Please do not support this institution. They are all talk and no delivery just mere administrators between you and your medical aid. They claim they work with 11 registered medical schemes but I had to educate them on the Act and case law. In fact the medical aid they recommended to me is in blatant disregard of the medical schemes act and curemed as a financial institution has done nothing in this regard.

We have been a subscriber with Curemed since 2023, and unfortunately our experience has been a big dissapointment. The point of a broker is informed advice when reviewing cover options. Another reason we took up their services was to receive guidance, support during claims or emergencies. In my experience, neither value points were delivered. Communication and responsiveness have been a consistent issue. During an accident where I needed assistance understanding my cover and next steps, I was unable to get a response despite attempting to contact them. Only after throwing my toys out the cot did I receive a response. More recently, I identified a potentially cheaper medical aid option that appeared to offer better cover. When I asked the advisor for professional guidance or analysis, I received a screenshot of quote variations with other comapnies with no explanation or insight. When I specifically requested their opinion, the response was simply that it was a “basic plan with little cover” without any meaningful comparison or reasoning. I questioned this lackluster response and asked for further clarification, I was told they didn't include detail were in a hurry due to a meeting with their boss. It feels like we are paying ongoing broker fees without receiving meaningful advisory value in return. I raised another complaint requesting follow-up, and although I was told someone would contact me, no one had responded. We will be cancelling as we don't see the benefit of continuing.

I genuinely do not understand how this company is still getting clients for assistance. At the beginning, the consultant who helped me apply for medical aid for myself and my son seemed to be doing his job. There was constant back and forth with documentation because something was always “wrong”, but I remained patient and cooperative. I paid Curemed for their “services” at the end of December. Shortly after that, I started receiving messages directly from the medical aid regarding outstanding information for my son. I tried calling the medical aid myself with no success and attempted to contact the Curemed consultant for almost two weeks. He read my WhatsApp messages and completely ignored me. Eventually he responded with an excuse that he wanted to reply but got a call and “forgot”, and that he would get the information and come back to me. He never did — until I lost my patience. Suddenly he claimed he had “just received the information from the medical aid”. This was clearly not true. There was a large amount of outstanding documentation, some of which was impossible to obtain quickly due to personal circumstances. Had I received this information earlier, it would have helped immensely. I eventually transferred to a completely different medical aid broker who is not even charging me and is doing an excellent job. Meanwhile, Curemed was already paid and simply stopped communicating. Is this standard practice for medical aid brokers — to take payment and then stop caring? Because of Curemed’s incompetence and lack of communication, my son now has to wait additional months on his waiting period. I also had to activate my own medical aid because when I asked Curemed for my membership number, I was told he “doesn’t have it” and that I should already have it because it “should be activated”. It was not. I had an emergency and discovered that the medical aid was never activated due to — once again — outstanding information that Curemed failed to communicate. But of course, Curemed already had their money, so that didn’t seem to matter. I contacted Curemed to request a refund and was promised it would be processed today. Unsurprisingly, the person assisting me with the refund is now also ignoring my messages. I would never, ever recommend Curemed to anyone. They do half the job, take your money, and then expect you to handle the rest yourself while they disappear. This has been one of the most unprofessional and frustrating experiences I have ever had with a service provider.

Absolutely shocking service!!! Firstly, I was given another clients contract, erroneously, I lieu of mine. Highly ********* and completely in contravention of the POPI Act. This made me very uncomfortable and I decided not yo proceed with signing the contract with them. Despite this, they still had the audacity to take a deduction off my account for the proposed amount. When I reached out to the broker from Curemed, he claims that this is the fee paid directly to Curemed and unassociated. So, I must pay for his incompetence. I have never heard of agreements where you pay for services NEVER RENDERED!!! I was told that I would be contacted by a Manager and someone from their Compliance Department but to date, I've not heard from a single person from Curemed. Be careful doing business with them!!!
