Why do we even have a department like this!! For 2 weeks I have been trying to get an appointment for legalization of a document for an overseas country. Phoning them just has no result. Your first call may be answered (1 in 10), but when transferred there is NO success. I even went to the offices as a "walk in" client, only to be told they have a list of 60 clients per day. To get onto this list, you need to be at the security offices by 04H00 in the morning and hope you get a spot. I have sent emails to the legalisation department, the minister's office (Mr Ronald Mamola) and a Ms J Bowman with absolutely no response! This really puts South Africa in a bad light with regards to international clients Covid is over! Get back to work!

Be very wary of using dirco to perform apostilling of your documents for international requirements. I wonder why we even have them in place to manage international relations when they don't respond to assist with your issues.

My cousin went overseas and had some problems like her passport been withheld. I called DIRCO on Friday afternoon 15h00, nearly knock off time, but was greeted by such a friendly human 🥰 Moses. This already made me feel comfortable as I was stressed out it's Friday and nearly time to leave. Moses transferred me to the most amazing lady by the name of Ida Coetzee, I gave her the details of the situation, she gave me her email address for my cousin to communicate directly with her and within a couple of minutes my cousin was sorted out. Ida I hope your bosses get to see this and recognize what a gem you are to the Department and our Country and Our Government. I sincerely hope Ramaphosa sees this!! This is what we need....this is the meaning of UBUNTU ✊🏻✊🏻

What a bunch of useless people. Refuse to assist you and don't answer your calls. E-mailed them without any response from them. Even called the office manager's number, no answer. Seems like these people only work when they want to, but is to be expected when you contact a government institution. No telephone etiquette. Claim to be 24-hour service, what a farce.

Dirco South Africa is very useless me and my wife have not received our certificate verifications for a very long time. It’s sad because we paid for this thing and emailed as requested.

Dirco is a mess after covid. They are short-staffed and cant process and authenticate documents quickly enough. There is a huge backlog for over a year now and they still have not resolved this issue. Perhaps they don't have money to hire more staff. Or even pay people over time. As a result, police clearances expire before you get them back. Since they are only valid for six months. This is frustrating people and preventing them from getting jobs overseas and locally. Now people are using agents and paying extra money to get it done quicker.

Department of International relations and cooperation is a nice place to be, people are friendly and helpful. The ques are never long and you are always in and out. Less than 10 mins. Brilliant government services
