Edge Fitness Clubs
Based on recent customer reviews, Edge Fitness Clubs receives sharply divided feedback. Satisfied members consistently mention clean facilities, friendly staff, motivating group classes, and a strong sense of community across branches like Gonubie, Linton, and Jeffreys Bay. However, a recurring and dominant theme is frustration with billing and contract management. Customers repeatedly describe difficulties cancelling memberships, unauthorised debit orders continuing after cancellation, unresponsive head office communication, disputed early termination fees, and aggressive debt collection. Promotional contract terms allegedly not honoured and poor query resolution further damage trust in the brand.

I am extremely disappointed with how Edge Fitness handled my account. In December, I reported suspicious debit transactions and stopped the debit order while trying to resolve the issue. I then visited the Quigney branch in January, explained everything, and paid in cash. I was assured the debit order would resume. When it didn't, I visited the Beacon Bay branch in March, paid again, and completed a new debit order mandate as instructed by Head Office. Despite following all instructions, no debit orders were processed in April or May. On 27 May 2026, Edge Fitness assured me the debit would go off at month-end. However, when I contacted Head Office, I was shocked to learn my account had already been handed over to Amica Debt Collectors and that I allegedly owed over R1,600. I made every effort to resolve the matter, paid at the branches, and comp**** with all requests, yet I have been handed over for debt collection due to what appears to be an administrative failure on Edge Fitness's side. This has caused unnecessary stress and potential damage to my credit profile

Absolutely terrible experience with Edge Fitness. Be VERY careful before signing anything with this gym. There are hidden agreements, ridiculous cancellation policies, and once you try to cancel, they hand your account over to Amica with even more fees added on top. Apparently Amica adds around a 20% markup, and then the gym adds another 30% just for handing the account over? Where do all these random fees even come from? It honestly feels like a complete ****. I cancelled my membership, yet they continued billing me for almost a YEAR. My original gym bill was around R5000, and now somehow they expect me to pay R8200? And every single month the amount keeps increasing if you don’t pay immediately. This whole process feels dishonest and predatory. I will be fighting this to the end because companies should not be allowed to operate like this. Avoid this gym at all costs.

Not a single time in my life have I felt compelled to use this Hello Peter site. Currently it is 3 in the morning as I write this just having recieved another email from these people. I would rather drink seawater in my coffee and have my head repeatedly rammed against a trash compactor than ever see Edge or Amica in my email again. I have repeatedly asked for cancellations. I have filled the forms. I have been ignored. I am at the point of throwing insults and I am finally resorting to public outcry which, for me, is a phenomenon akin in frequency to a visit from Haley's comet. Edge fitness clubs operate on a predatory business model with its partner 'debt recovery' service. Like the trapdoor spider, they nest in a small burrow waiting for unsuspecting prey to happen by. Having chosen something as foolish as getting in shape and improving your life was the right choice, as you will soon be caught in a web of administrative nightmares, incompetence and financial exploitation. Upon trying to cancel a contract they will send you a form to fill in which they won't process, and their debt recovery vampires will demand the payment in full for remainder of the contract of you. They do little more but send you a email with a bunch of legal text and demand payment whilst threatening to get you blacklisted. Then they ignore you completely once you make said payment as agreed to cancel this contract. Honestly I'd rather be blacklisted at this point. My blood pressure could probably provide enough thrust to help Elon get us to Mars tomorrow. Upon stopping the debit order yourself after you pay the cancellation fee, your membership that you explicitly said you wanted cancelled will suddenly and spontaneously grow like a cancer on your soul. A R250 membership it's apparently R550 a month if you pay via EFT or cash etc. This magical manifestation will likely again become blood to feed their vampiric debt collection partners, trapping you in an eternal Hell. I have elected to ignore them at this point, as I have paid the cancellation fee and sent the form, and therefore I have to conclude this to be purposely malicious. The only alternative explanation involves a detailed theory regarding the staff smoking Krokodil and needing to suck the soul from their clients to provide for some obscure deity. Probably Mammon. But I will not speculate too much into the realm of potential fiction. It's just a theory (miss you MatPat) Overall, Edge Fitness clubs provokes the image of a 1920s, moustache twirling villain as far as their customer service and cancellation department goes. And I'd you do not pay them for the sevice you stopped using five months ago they'll twirl their moustache further and send a bully to ice you. Dear Dr Jung would call this the shadow while their persona is of getting in shape and be healthy and ****, plastic support. Sadly, I always thought the world we live in is the shadow of God and here are more people to prove it correct. Lesson: Do not sign up for this gym. Or any gym in fact. Eat junk, get fat and be lazy. Trying to change that gets you this problem. I'd rather have the problem of buying a pair of jeans one size up or haul my flabby ass around the block for a run. Do not support these people. Do not fall for their advertising. They do not care about you or your fitness journey. They are predatory and parasitic. Peace out from the abyss

I opened two accounts for my sons and gave notice to close them. They charged me R1 900+ as a fee for cancellation and I promptly paid it. They are still debiting my account ,monthly as if the accounts are active. This is a **** and not a legit business.

I wouldn't advise anyone to join this gym, they are ************s. My brother and I went to the branch for him to take over my contract and instead they said it's not possible because the contract was already finished and they assisted us and closed my account and opened a new one for my brother and now they still continue to charge us for 2 accounts even though the assistant closed my account.....im very disappointed in these people. I wouldn't advise anyone to join this gym.

The cancellation process is a ****, you can communicate on time. Yet it wont get processed, its as if they just want us to keep on using them. Then you start receiving calls from a debt collector, you threatens about legal actions. Told them to send summons and we go to court, been months since they came back to me. Because i know i don't owe them, maybe that's why they stopped calling.

After numerous cancellation emails and calls, edge fitness is still deducting from my account although my contract ended end of January. Chantelle at the Strand branch is absolutely unprofessional putting the phone down in your ear when you want to speak to management, she is absolutely just plain rude! After false advertising and miscommunication from Chantelle's side, i will NEVER recommend Edge Fitness Strand! Very very unprofessional service!
