we went for Sunday roast as we have before and the food and the service were excellent. our bill arrived and it was really high - i discovered that they had put the prices up the week before according to the waiter. no notification of this anywhere, when we booked telephonically, when we ordered, or on the black board at the entrance. management unmoving - sadly i wont go back.

Really incredibly disappointing experience. I've always loved Forries, but after today I'm not sure there will be another visit. The food and the beers were as nice as always... when they arrived. We waited for over 1.5 hours for the meal and 30min+ after every drinks order. I understand the difficulties of trying to run a business with ongoing loadshedding etc., but even after discussing our experience with the manager & owner we were left feeling completely under valued as customers. Felt very bad for our waitress (who the owner effectively blamed for all issues) - she did her best.

20/07 - our waiter insisted on running my c card though again even though I had revived a sms notification from my bank. After countless emails & phone calls . & even a visit back to try clear up the refund face2face the management have still not made any effort to settle my R400 refund. It a shame / joke considering I've been going there for over 20yrs

I've sent a request via their web page and was impressed with the swift response by their admin, especially referring to Michele. They are also willing to go the extra mile for a party I want to have there.

I am rather disappointed in the arrangement and planning of my booking for last night. (30 Nov 2016)

Although they wrote my name on their signs and our waiter was lovely, my guests were first split into 3 separate tables which I had to request to change; I thought the whole point of a booking was to ensure all guests are accommodated and together? Upon wanting to leave, suddenly the night manager did not know who or where my deposit was paid to (proof of payment emailed to them Sunday, I also emailed them on Monday to ask for confirmation of receipt which was never replied to and finally, we then called in to ask if we will be communicated with to which staff said "We will check and call you back", needless to say, no one called us back). So here, at the end of my evening myself and my boyfriend had to debate, fight and prove we made a booking and paid a deposit which really left such a horrible impression in my mind which somewhat ruined my evening. My 26 guests all ordered at least 3 drinks each, some had food and I bought 9 pizzas; is this not a customer worth satisfying to ensure continuous support?

The staff were rather rude at closing time, 11:30, instead of asking us politely to leave which we would have, they turned the lights off. There were many other customers having just bought kegs of beer in the smoking area and this is how the restaurant asks its clients to leave? So they would rather sell sell the beer and products just to then tell clients they have to leave but could not possibly take their paid-for-drinks with them either. Why not be honest; do not allow the clients to purchase from you if they cannot feven start their drinks?

Requiring such a hefty deposit, applying such stringent rules regarding payment, deposit and even bringing a cake (You are not allowed to bring your own cake onto the premises or youll be asked to pay R25 per slice served to your guests but, they also will not organise you a cake unless you order it 7 days in advance), and then you do not deliver the a standard of planning and respect in accordance with your prices and rules?

I really do not mind paying for quality money for quality services... but this was not quality.

Really really disappointed.

We sat outside and soon were covered in tiny white bugs. We saw the wood was infested with them: the trees and garden sleepers. The waiter politely apologised and said they already knew. They couldn't move us as the whole area was infested. We were stuck as it was Mother's Day but it was awful. They put up umbrellas but about 20 bugs were on me at any time, and on the kids in the play area. We definitely ate and drank some too.

The food was mediocre, and the cauliflower side was inedible. We had a chef with us who confirmed it was spoiled with vinegar. They said it was just a strong cheddar taste. I've also cooked professionally a few times and can tell cheese from vinegar most days. None of the 7 of us ate it. They gave us a few pieces of pork crackling to make up for it, but half of them were burnt black on one side.

I'm really annoyed at how my mom's Mother's Day turned out. Being covered in bugs and eating bad food wasn't what I had in mind for her day.

I left my money and went home early to shower and wash my clothes. Haven't heard yet if they gave a discount in the end but even that hardly makes up for the experience we had. Thanks a bunch guys.
