In having gone to Cucina Di Giovanni in Waterstone Shopping Center for many, many years - the one night we went to celebrate my mothers birthday (10 February 2025) after the passing of my sister, my moms youngest brother and both of my mom's parents; this was not the memory we wanted to experience again, and though we've had many good times with this restaurant previously - will CERTAINLY NOT be retuning. Having arrived for an early dinner at 15h20, there was only one table seated in the restaurant and within the 20-minutes of being seated another table had arrived and walked-out due to lack of service. Our Service Ambassador called Clement who was asigned to us, was absolutely useless. He had no customer attention to communication and welcoming, - as the food servers and the kitchen staff were in a full-on conversation joking with each other, we had to ask for our ordered food to be brought to our table as it was sitting on the counter, - we never once got asked for a refill of drinks, once the first drink order on seating was made, - after 28-minutes of waiting for Clement to return to ask how our food was, I eventually got up to explain the food was terrible and we weren't eating it, but had been waiting and taking the time on how long it would take him to ask how our food was. On approaching Clement the Service Ambassador with this update, he shrugged me away and told me to rather speak to Charles, who was apparently the Manager on duty. Charles, too fami**** with complaints, did not take note to speak to the Serving Staff or the kitchen to find out where the fault had arrived. He just wanted to comp the entire bill completely and I said that was NOT how we work. When he handed over the bill, he still added a discount and two slices of cake for the bad service on my moms birthday and I advised him again - that's not how it works. You need to keep standards and sort the problems of the restaurant out. When I told him that I would be taking the bill and attaching his name to the review following, he was absolutely sweating and asked not to do any reviews on the service. THE FOOD: My mom and dad both ordered calamari and rice. The calamari was so watered down and had the taste of being frozen. The rice was NOT fresh and tasted like they'd just mixed in old rice with the "new" rice. The famous minestroni soup was so salty, it was inedible and the bread so thin and crumply, it was like eating cardboard. CERTAINLY NOT THE PLACE TO DINE ! ESPECIALLY NOT FOR CELEBRATORY DINNER!

Fabulous experience. Good to die for. Menu selection in true Italian style. Our waiter yesterday evening. Mandela was a wonderful host. An asset to this most extraordinary and excellent restaurant.

The Green Point Giovanni's in Cape Town delivers great service. Very friendly staff too. Delicious sandwiches and pastas. Value for money. The dark chocolate cake is excellent and I crave it on a daily basis. Lots of international snacks, sweets and drinks to choose from.

So last nite, after weeks of the kids being indoors, I convince hubby to take us out for dinner. We go to a local eatery called Giovannis in Woodmead. I have great memories of the one in Illovo. Anyways the place is completely empty so we are both happy for our safety yet heartbroken about the business suffering to survive. Hubby orders the Spezzatino Giovanni (Calamari, Prawns, Line Fish And Mussels With Thinly Cut Veggies) but asks to please remove the mussels. He hates mussels and crab. We have a water outage in the area so I am not surpised that their toilet didnt flush when I took my newly potty trained Maya to the loo. Slight disappointed they didnt think to put a jug of water or wet wipes for patrons to use to clean their hands. Nevertheless I brush it off. Food takes ages to arrive and kids are starting to get annoyed. The owner is busy enjoyin his own meal and didnt think we make an apology let alone the cold waiter who didnt even seemed happy to be there. Shame. The food finally arrives and 3/5 are pretty tasteless. I poured garlic on mine which helped. Hubby meal’s is shockingly full of crab. He simply moves to the side cos hes not a complainer. The owner finally decides to check on us halfway through the meal after he had his own dinner. Hubby who is the sweetest person alerts him there is crab in his meal which wasnt mentioned on the menu (just in case the next person is allergic to it). He immediately responds in a rude manner that it wasnt crab. We are both shocked at this response. It was indeed crab. Unless we are both dumb. He proceeds to ask what was ordered still claiming there is absolutely no crab in this meal (which he didnt even know what it was). Hubby responses that he was clear with the ingredients as per menu and asked for mussels to be removed. Owner stormed off to get the menu and realizes his mistake when the item was pointed out to him. Oh ok he says. Instead of an apology, he tells us he can simply make a new meal if we are unhappy. Which we obviously didnt need. What awful service and bad attitude from the owner. Thats the reason the restuarant is empty and here we felt sorry for him thinking its covid. Horrible horrible horrible Experience.

My wife and I visited this restuant after a long abcence, we remembered that it was never a high quality eatery but served acceptable food. We placed our order and recieved our drinks, nearly an hour later our food was delivered, it bore no resemblance to what we have had in the past. My kingkilp was covered in a tomato paste which had a disgustingly bitter taste, the fish was overcooked to the point of almost haveing a texture of biltong. My wife had ordered a veal dish which was extremely tough and had a strong rancid smell. We decided to leve and were presented with a bill for the untouched food. The manager accused me of being rude which I admit to, not only dose this eatery not have the ability to produce eddabil food its management is in severe need of training. this eatery in within a casino complex and as such has a captive market, it offers little to no bennifit to the casino.
