Hyundai South Africa
Scores reflect the Overall AI Score for each category
Based on recent customer reviews, Hyundai South Africa is facing significant customer experience challenges across its dealership network. Customers report widespread frustration with vehicle defects, warranty disputes, poor after-sales communication, and unfulfilled sales promises. While isolated dealerships and individual consultants receive praise, the dominant sentiment reflects systemic issues with accountability, transparency, and head office responsiveness, particularly around paint defects, warranty claims, and post-sale support.

1.9
Jul '25 - Jun '26
Based on recent customer reviews, Hyundai South Africa is experiencing widespread dissatisfaction across nearly every customer touchpoint. Buyers report undisclosed accident damage, missing spare keys, unresolved warranty claims, peeling paint defects, and chronic communication failures from dealerships and head office customer care. While isolated branches like Silver Lakes, Ethekwini and Centurion receive praise for individual consultants, the dominant narrative is one of broken trust and unaccountable after-sales support.
The most common complaint about Hyundai South Africa, based on Hellopeter's AI analysis of recent customer reviews, is Communication & Aftercare. Customers describe being ghosted by sales staff, managers, and Hyundai SA Customer Care after purchase or warranty issues. Elizabeth Maloka and head office are repeatedly named as unresponsive. Complaints escalated to dealer principals, Motus, and the Ombudsman go unanswered for months. Communication & Aftercare (1.0) is the most damaging theme.

HYUNDAI BOKSBURG. I traded in my Kia Rio on the 11th May 2026 and i signed all necessary documents and got my Hyundai Creta . I was supposed to start paying their instalment on 25th June but i was surprised when i got debited on the 25th of May for Kia. Its only when i called MFC and was told Hyundai has not settled my account(Kia). The sales lady Pinky Caluza and Finance manager Ziphozenkosi Mabanga are really failing me as they give me excuses everyday. Today is the 17th day and I'm the one that do follow ups on this matter each and everyday, no care whatsoever from their office . I am reaching out on this platform as i dont know who can help me anymore

I recently took in my i20 to Hyundai Malmesbury for a major service. Upon collecting the car, the paint had started to peel off in front and back. I had brought the car earlier without any scratches or patches, they said they will submit a claim to Hyundai South Africa since it's a "factory fault". I've been waiting for their feedback... The car also didn't start after the service and I had never experienced that ever since I bought the car. I had to leave the car at the dealership and fetch it the following day after spending R6000 for the poor service I received. No courtesy car was offered, I had to make means of transporting myself back home and come back to fetch it the following day.

After Sales service sucks, warranty repair process sucks!!! Customer service in general absolutely **********! I've tried my utmost best to resolve this privately however that doesn't seem to be working. Yay its a warranty claim and you wont pay anything here is the catch you will sit without your car for 21 days and we wont assist you with a courtesy car, we will dodge your calls going forward! Hyundai East Rand Bad Service all round, head in the sand.

I bought the Hyundai Venue 1.2 SUV in December 2023 and, within five months, my car has been broken into twice. While the car is comfortable and fuel-efficient, I am very disappointed with its security. In my experience, the vehicle feels easy to target and not safe enough for my area. This has made ownership stressful and frustrating. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this car.

I bought a 2021 Hyundai Venue in 2023, as an used model. I recently found out that the car was in an accident in June 2021 and the vehicle was supposed to be written off. They sold the vehicle a month later. I have brought this to Hyundai's attention and the Elizabeth Maloka from customer care refuses to help me. They have cancelled the warranty on June 2025, on the vehicle, that has been standing for over a month to have the intercooler replaced. They have commited ***** by cancelling the warranty which I have paid for and just refers me to the ombudsman. Just because they did not logged the car as written off, I need to carry the cost of the repairs and trying to sell the vehicle as a code 3. Elizabeth Maloka is the worst person to speak to. She can't assist with anything or call me back. I hope this cost her her job. What is the use of customer care if they can't assist in any way.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I’ve received from Hyundai East Rand (1 Pond Road, Boksburg). I traded in my Hyundai i20 in January, money was debited from my account end for January for a vehicle that was no longer in my possession. I was promised a refund back in early February — we are now in May, and I still haven’t received my money. In addition, I was promised cashback for purchasing a new vehicle, which I have also not received. I have made multiple attempts to resolve this: - I contacted head office, and Elizabeth (elizabethm@hyundai.co.za) said she is “busy with an investigation,” but there has been no feedback. - Xolani (xolanim@hyundai.co.za), the complaints manager at Hyundai Boksburg, also promised to investigate but has since gone silent. - The salesperson Cedric and manager Lesley (Llebon@hyundai.co.za) are now ignoring my emails completely. This level of service is unacceptable. Being ignored while your money is being withheld is extremely frustrating and stressful. I would strongly advise others to think twice before dealing with this dealership. The lack of accountability and communication is not worth the mental strain. I am still waiting for my refund and the cashback that was promised to me.
