A week before attending Jiah restaurant, I had called to make a reservation for 15 people for a special occasion, and requested that suitable seating be arranged for a buffet. I was told that there was availability for the booking and they would call me later that day to confirm my reservation, but no one had responded as promised. I called the next morning and had to remind them they had forgotten to return my call regarding the reservation. Upon arrival half of the guests had to sit on couches (which were stacked on bricks) at the table which resulted in them getting hurt when the couch fell off the bricks. Tables were cramped in a corner where guests constantly had to stand up for each other when someone needed to get to the buffet. Down-lighters were not working, which resulted in poor lighting for dining. The food was appalling, dry broken chicken which was clearly not fresh to anyone, hard calamari that was heated up, old salads and cold pasta, etc. When tea and coffee was ordered waiters had to constantly be asked for cutlery, and guests eventually used knives to stir tea and coffee. The most disgusting part of the evening when a waiter gave the bill, of almost R3000, to our guests instead of straight to me just 20 minutes after being seated while we were eating the main course. We have never experienced a restaurant like this compared to restaurants like Al Hambra, etc. which has never been disappointing. A week later we have still received no response/apology from management or the owner despite numerous attempts to reach them. I would not recommend this place to anyone as you will be wasting your time and money.

jiah has been a resturant where i’d visit at least once a month because vast selection of foods and desserts on their buffet menu and good quality food However for the past Two months their service & food quality has taken a giant fall !! Service was horrible and i wouldnt even serve their food to my dogs !! I’ll never visit their resturant again and i will discourage any and everyone from ever going there! No wonder they were so empty !

Had a terrible experience when we decided to have our Year End Function at the above venue. Posted about it shortly after, but still no response. I would appreciate feedback.

We booked a week in advance for our family graduation event and was advised to either choose the a la carte or take the buffet menu. On the day of the event we were advised by a man which we believe to be the manager that the credit card machine was not operational and we need to pay cash for our groups bill, which was a challenge for us due to the size of the group. Our group that consist of 30 family members arrived at the restaurant on 16th December 2017 at 5-5.30pm. Upon arrival we were ushered to our booked seating. One waiter served our group and we waited for over an hour for our food and drinks. It seems that the waiters were not very well coordinated and was running around without any supervision. All our food came at odd times and most of the group did not eat together. By 7pm 5 people from our group did not receive their food. At this stage the waiter tried to explain and calm us down to say that all the food ordered was given out by the kitchen but did not arrive at our table. At this stage the waiter gave up and was already confused. What made the situation worst is that most of our steakes (rump/Fillet) was over done and cooked completely dry after we specifically asked for medium ...even my 300g rump steak looked like a minute steak when it came. The burgers and seafood platter however looked good and had some compliments. While this whole commotion going on the Manager was just looking on without stepping in to take charge of the situation. We left the restaurant cancelling the meals and drinks that didn't arrive. When we finally had to personally call the manager and voice our compliant to him, he had an attitude and blamed the waiter for not having more waiters to serve our group. We left the venue feeling angry and disgusted with the quality of the food and service that we had received that ruined the special graduation event that we had planned. In my opinion this restaurant is badly run with management that dont take charge of their staff and food quality. Their chef needs to be fired as he has no idea how to prepare a steak meal. They should rather stick to a buffet menu as this restaurant is far from A la Carte!!!

Good day Jiah, On Thursday, 14 December our company hosted their Year End Function at Jiah Restaurant. The booking was made in advance, for 25 people. When making the booking, via telephone, I liased with Fortune, who was not very friendly nor helpful. Yes, she answered all my question and successfully made the booking, but I had to be the one to ask important questions she should have been asking me. One time she even told me to "Hold on" while she went and finished a conversation with a colleague I assume. In addition to this, the background noise was so overwhelming that I could hardly hear what she was saying most times. I even asked if she could put the music softer, to which she said "It's not the music, we have people over for lunch". Again, I had to be the one to contact your restaurant, on Monday 11 December, to just double check that all was in order for Thursday and provide an updated amount of guests attending. Later that day, someone contacted my boss to confirm what I had already called about earlier that morning and the gentleman who called 'ran out of airtime', resulting in my boss having to call back. Talk about unprofessional. Nonetheless, we kept our booking as it is a very busy time of the year and reservations are scarce. We had made our booking for 14h00 yesterday and arrived on time. We were told to wait outside as our tables were not ready. Only at this stage were we asked whether we would like to be seated inside or outside. This should have been done on 29 November already, which is when the booking was made. The gentleman who told us to wait said that it will not take longer than "3-4minutes" as they are almost done setting up, bare in mind. it was already 14h20 and the staff was restless. He tried to soften the mood by saying that our time has been extended from 14h00 - 17h00. We were even asked to stand up at one stage as the "Guests eho have booked this table (outside table) have arrived. After waiting it out for more than the abovementioned time, we decided to go up anyway, whether the staff were done setting up or not. When we got to the top floor, they were far from done. only one table had plates laid down, excluding cutlery and glasses. We ignored this and proceeeded with our formalities and awards. by the time we were done, the staff had just finished. It was now 14h50 already and we were out in the sun the entire time. As we were getting seated, another company arrived, to an already set table. The venue we were sealed in was hot and we were already bothered. There was an aircon right abovr our table near the door, but not once were we asked if it should be switched on. In addition to this, our drinks, which was finalised when making the booking, was not brought out until I asked for it, to which the waitress responded, "We will come take your oder now". Why would she need to take my order if it was already ordered? A colleague and I ordered a Ferrero Milkshake to share, knowing that the last time it was a 1litre milkshake (she enquired about the size then). The waiter asked "In two?", having us assume he would bring two glasses - 1litre divided into two. When he brought it, he only brought one glass. We were first confused about the size as it came in a short, round glass and only one of it. She asked if this was it, to which he said yes, that is the milkshake for R59. It was highly upsetting that as a first time visitor, bringing 22 other staff members with, this is the type of service guesses receive. The entire time spent there was uncomfortable, unprofessional and disappointing. What a way to end off the year.

<p>We arrived 5 mins early for our reservation. We were the second people, in an otherwise empty floor of the restaurant, for the buffet. This was Mothers Day so you'd expect a restaurant to be ready for the rush. The buffet wasn't ready - it wouldn't be ready for the next 50 minutes. Upon our arrival, no one came to us with a drinks menu or to take our drinks order. My brother had to go ask for someone to take our drinks order, so we were sent a waiter...without any menu. We had to ask him to go fetch a drinks menu. Our drinks got to our table 45 minutes after we arrived....just the drinks. 55 minutes later than the time we were told....the food was finally ready for all the guests. The food was barely average, drinks were average. What wasn't average was the attitude of the wait staff. They didn't see if anyone had dirty plates. Guests had to go to a waiter to hand them their plates. I put my plate on the floor nearby since there was no one to take it. Then after lunch dessert was served. With no dessert bowls. I had Malva pudding and custard in a plate. A normal big plate. This restaurant fully ruined Mothers Day for my mom. Thank you Jiah!</p>

<p>On the 30th Dec my friends and i decided to have supper at Jiah . We were 21 people and made the reservation a week in advance. When we got there there were 6 little tables (that they would usually use to seat 1 person either side) next to each other and this was supposed to seat 21 of us. We advised the water that 8 people were still to come and there was no more place for them to sit. He kept responing saying they are unable to assist us with this. There is no place . Now this is not out or problem because we made a reservation and we were 21 not 2. We asked to speak to the manager. Two maangers were available but as they saw us taking the matter up with the waiter we just saw them scatter to avoid the situation. The waiter wemnt away to call the manager but came back telling us that the manager said the same thing he did to us that they cnt help us. Eventually after becoming irate, 1 of the managers came toward the table. Instead of being A PROFESSIONA. Greeting, introducing himself and asking how he can assist. he said WHATS THE PROBLEM HERE ?! In an obnoxious condisending tone. How is this a way to treat your customers, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO MARKET YOUR RESTAURANT, After we found a solution to the problem ourselves, we placed our order. After an hour, our food came in drips and drabs . 1 persons food came when we all had already eaten. AN HOUR AND 30 MIN LATER!!! Would you eat at such an eastablishment?! </p> <p>Both the waiter and managements attitudes needs some serious asdjustments or the owner will quickly see the result of it. </p> <p>We were very disappointed by our experience.</p>
