I went to replace my drivers license at Waterfall licensing department on Saturday. It was clean, efficient and fast and they were polite. This must be the best government dept in South Africa. There is no comparison to the Marlboro licensing department where i went before. It was slow, dirty, inefficient and they were very rude.

WOW!!!!! First time ever. The Licence Department @ Waterfall is top-class. Renewing my drivers licence was a breeze. From the security guy right till the guy that assisted me with the renewal....everyone was helpful, insightful and happy to help. And how the gentleman at Reception shared jokes and kept us entertained while moving chairs. Overall THANK YOU GUYS!!!! Wish all government departments could learn a thing or two from this licencing department. Well done to the whole team and keep it up guys, you deserve such recognition.

This is meant for the team at the Drivers Licensing Offices at Waterfall in Johannesburg. If I could give 10 stars, I would. One of the few centers who accepts walk-ins and a day/night difference from my experience the previous day at Midrand (Not Midrand Gautrain) From arriving and reporting to the security ladies for sign-in and direction, clean, neat, professional, helpful, friendly, willing to answer questions. The previous day I was standing in a 3 cattle lines from 06:51 until 15:01. Did the tests, understand load shedding, my bum first hit a chair at 14:40, to be told at 15:01 at paypoint that they do not take walkins. I was almost in tears and begged the gentleman to tell me whether he knew of a center which takes walk-ins. He referred me to Waterfall. Arrived late, at 07:15. Went to security who directed me to an office, but first I had to sign in. Before signing in, would you please confirm that you accept walk-ins? Yes, ma'am, we do, but we don't take that green paper in your hand from Midrand, you have to complete a new one. My heart sunk, because my eye test of the previous day was also in there and they do not accept it at Waterfall. Go in, white papers on clipboards. Don't know what to do, so sat down. 2 Men came out of an office. Apologetically approach them, and asking politely about the new form. Friendly, not condescending at all, takes me and hands me one of the clipboards. The white paper is the same one as the green one from the previous day. My fault, I did not bother to look at the papers on the clipboards. Sat down to complete the form, a lady enters and asks for 12 people to follow her. Suddenly, I am second in line, so I scribble profusely, but expect to wait a while before the previous 12 are processed. Finish the document, I swear to all that's holy, 4 minutes later, the same lady comes and calls the remainder of us to follow her (6 or 7 people, including me) Goes to the next office where we sit in line and move up as people are processed. Gorgeous lady dressed beautifully in all black, walks through us to make sure we have all the documents we need. Yes, have photo's, no, don't have my old licence. She gives me an additional form to complete. Proof of ID? Yes. Copy? No. No attitude, no worries, ma'am, she takes my ID and makes a copy without asking for copying fees. Next moment, ushered into an office by the co-ordinator. Cannot even remember what it was for, it was so quick. Thank you, ma'am. First door on your right when you leave. I walk into the passge, there are people in there and I am unsure of what to do. Co-ordinator comes over, please follow me and takes me to another office. Friendly lady, takes fingerprints, time for eye test. I don't know what to do and keep doing it wrong. No irritation, no exasperation. Explains again and again. Then asks, ma'am, do you wear glasses when you drive? Yes. Please put on the glasses and try again. I fly through the test Payment, temporary licence issued, proof of renewal application in hand. I ask her, is it too early for a manager to be on duty? The face falls. Why, ma'am? Because I need to speak to a manager about your office and your entire team No further questions, if I leave her office, the supervisor is in the office right opposite her office. Thank you, and to you, I want to say thank you for your efficiency and professionalism. Your entire office and team as a whole are super efficient, you all can be proud of yourself. You can see the relief and the smile lit the room So, I enter the supervisor's office. One gentleman standing, another sitting. I was told I can get a supervisor in this office? Yes, the gentleman seated, the standing man walks out and I tell the supervisor my name. Looks at me quizzically, yes??? I know people always ask for managers when they want to complain. You see the wariness rise in his face. Yes, ma'am? I am one of those people. The face drops even further. But, I am also one of those people who believes to give credit where credit is due. You can see the incomprehension on his face. Sir, I did not get anyone's names, but this is not about any one person whom I dealt with today in particular. This is about your office and your entire team. My experience here today, was day and night from my expierience yesterday in Midrand. You can be proud of every single member of your team. Every single person whom I dealt with here, today, from the ladies at security to the last lady who assisted me, you are a well-oiled machine, super efficient, and super professional. Please tell your office manager I said that, and please check Hello Peter, because I will be writing a review. I waltz out of there, all documents in hand, at 08:43 I still do not have any official's name whom I dealt with on 29 June 2022, and I apologise for the delay in posting this, but I am a woman of my word. Come far, come wide, Waterfall Licensing Department is worth the travel if you need things done, done correctly, done professionally, done efficiently, and especially in an emergency where you cannot wait for an online booking. Just remember to take photo's and a copy of your ID and licence with you
