On Monday 2 May, 3 of us decided to go for lunch at La Romantica, Meerendal. What a mistake. I have been to La Romantica several times before and have always found the food and service of a good standard. I am not sure what happened on Monday. (judging by some of the recent reviews, this could be a daily occurrence) We had been for wine tasting prior to lunch, so we purchased a bottle of wine from the cellar to have with our meal. The waitress brought us glasses, but left the bottle on the table without opening it. Fortunately, one of the party had a cork *****. We proceeded to order our food, no problem with that. The food took a fair amount of time but we were not in a rush, so no train smash. (bear in mind the restaurant was quiet. 3 inside tables and a few on the balcony) The food arrived as ordered and was very good. Approximately 25 min after we had all finished eating, we had to call the waitress to clear the table. We then ordered desserts. It was at this time that I complained about the poor service, and requested the waitress to convey the message to the manager who was sitting at the table on his phone. This was during the lunch service. I noticed the waitress going to the manager but he simply slipped into the kitchen never to be seen again. Now I'm not one to complain, but this is ridiculous. Both other tables in the restaurant had also been neglected and had also complained. Restaurant owners spend so much money setting up a restaurant only for their staff to mess it up. I did contact the restaurant, but received no response, so they probably don't care either. My advice is that we are so spoilt for choice in the Durbanville area, rather go elsewhere. Rant over. PS. I eventually received an email from the restaurant requesting my contact number as they wanted to contact me, according to their automated response, but received no call back.

The service at Bossa was terrible, waited 15 minutes to be served, waiter was practically non-existent for the rest of the night, the burger bun was stale and the chicken in the chicken salad was processed chicken. Very disappointed.

I recently went to Meerendal to celebrate a big life achievement with my family. To our greatest disappointment the gaurd informed us that we can not park on the inside near the front of the restaurant, but only at the outside parking of the property. My mother pointed out that she is old and can not walk far, but we were still declined inside parking. For perspective, it was an extremely hot day (thirty-something degrees), mid week during a relaxed hour. A few weekends prior another gaurd let us in even when it was busy and full outside. When we came inside the parking was mostly empty. It deeply disappoints me that Meerendal does not hold their client and their client's wellbeing as top priority. I will not be returning and have advised my friend circles the same.

Meerendal Wine Estate has the best cheese platters, the cheeses are appropriate sizes as well, we were 4 adults sharing a cheese platter for 2 which was more than enough. Meerendal Wine Estate customer services need improvement, we were informed that it's self-service if you sit outside but guests sitting left and right of us outside received service from the wait staff.

On Tuesday 24 September we went to Carlucci's at Meerendal Wine Estate. It was my first time and expectations were high. Unfortunately it was a pathetically poor experience for us. We walked up to the sign and waited to be seated. Three waiters stood right infront of us by the point of sale and a couple of them walked past us, but we were invisible to all of them. Only after making an intentional comment, we were told to take a table in the far right corner. We sat down, looked through the menu and decided what we'll have. Kids went off to play and enjoyed themselves. At the table, it was the opposite. After 20-ish minutes, I went looking for someone and ran into an Indian lady. I told her how long we've been waiting and haven't received any attention yet from a waiter. How can the waiter that told us were to sit have forgotten about us? I told the lady where we are sitting, returned to our table and expected service to follow soon. The service never came, so I rounded up the kids and we made our way out. I intentionally went through the entrance to have my final say when I saw a guy and asked if he was in a senior position. He acknowledged he was and I told him about our pathetic experience at the restaurant. All he could say was "I'm so sorry". Almost 30 min of zero service + the time it took to drive there and the time it took to go home and the expense of the trip and I get a "sorry". Sorry ain't good enough, especially when your customer service is so pathetic.
