The agents at this company have been misleading and unprofessional. Their primary focus appears to be making sales and earning commission, rather than providing accurate information and proper service. I submitted a claim for my uncle’s funeral cover, which was declined due to two missed premium payments. I was informed that the policy lapses after one missed premium, but is only cancelled after three months of non-payment. This explanation contradicts the information provided by the agent who initially signed me up, as well as what another agent told me when I enquired on the day of my uncle’s passing. This inconsistency is deeply concerning and creates the impression that the company is avoiding its obligation to pay valid claims.

I'm so disappointed on this so called Monarch insurance of Lewis stores, since my dad had an account with them upon opening the credit he refused to take the funeral cover but they said they won't approve his credit if he doesn't agree to take it, now my dad is no more we want to no about the claims but their phone is always say please hold for more than 5 hours every day is this some kind of ****. I am so angry right cause they'll call me left right and center every month yet now we can't reach them

I am utterly disgusted by the service offered at Monarch Insurance, I have been stuck on hold trying to reach them to amend beneficiary details on my policy. This is unacceptable. Just a month ago we had to process a claim only for the fund to be received TWO WEEKS LATER AFTER THE FUNERL !!!!!!!! so much for resting assured that our family member's are covered only to be stressed while mourning. This is DISRESPECTFUL AND INEFFICIENT !!!!!!!!!

The worst insurance I have ever experienced, I had a horrible house ******* and everything in my house was taken guy almost took my life. I claim everything back from my insurances but this one is giving hard time after pay for 3 full years with no missed payments they I claim the declined they giving me stupid reasons yet they are still deducting monthly!!!!

Good day I have submitted a funeral claim on the 5 January 2026 for my uncle who passed away on the 1 January, I have not received my money still today the 27 of January 2026. It is very difficult to get hold of the people at claims department.

The claim was first logged online on 23 December 2025. Under this website : https://monarchinsurance.co.za/sub-claim .It was subsequently submitted via email to claims@monarchinsurance.co.za, and I have followed up multiple times thereafter. On 27 December 2025, I resubmitted the claim, and due to the lack of response, I visited Lewis Store 313 on 29 December 2025, where we finally received the claim reference number CL287082. Today, I have been advised that I must wait an additional 14 days, which I find unreasonable.Please note that when this funeral cover was taken, it was under the understanding that such insurance provides financial relief during a difficult time, ensuring that burial costs are covered promptly to avoid financial strain. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. We buried my cousin on 27 December 2025 using borrowed funds, which now accrue interest, despite having an active funeral policy intended to prevent such hardship.I kindly request that you advise me on the appropriate escalation process, as I do not accept the additional 14-day delay communicated.

Worst experience ever in time of need.nothing like relaxing thinking you have a funeral policy ,then when it’s time to bury your loved one.thier claim department can’t pick thier phones.7 days stil no payout but stil taking thier other premiums from my account..😡😡starked running around borrowing money to bury my family member while I have been paying my policy without any delay..
