Management ghosted me!
I had the most bizarre interaction with the management team at Motherland! I was contacted by Melissa, Seb, Armand and Shayna; I am a baker and they wanted to "visit my shop as well as try some of my work." No problem! I arranged for Tuesday 3/6/2025 and asked which items they would like to try. They chose, and I requested billing info for their invoice. To this, Melissa requested a quote first, which was sent, after which I have received no reply! I followed up twice, and CC'd in all the people mentioned above. Still no reply! I even went as far as whatsapping Shayna, also no reply! It takes nothing to say "no thanks" or even make a rude comment about the price. But I find ghosting to be rude and, frankly, unacceptable. Perhaps this will get a reply. I hope my experience can help anyone thinking of working with Motherland, to make a more informed choice about the company, or at least to understand why they have not received a reply. I had no idea their HelloPeter score would be so low, and with some more research, I found that none of their stores is rated over 4,4 stars on Google, which usually implies mediocrity. Try some of their work, but please don't pay for it!

Management ghosted me!

Avoid Motherland if you want early coffee on time
The Crowthorne branch did not open as per their advertised time and then when I knocked on the door they ignored me, after some knocking one guy came and told me to ****** off. This all while I have my four year old twins with me. I have a schedule to stick to and if I am late because of Motherlands incompetence, I will go somewhere else. Avoid this place if you want your mornings to start with a cup of coffee.

Poor welcome
I just returned home from a visit to your "new" Victory Park store. What a lousy experience! This was my second lousy experience there and I thought you should hear about it. My first was in December when I met a friend there just after 4pm. The staff slowly packed up the furniture and mopped the floor around us, making me feel a little uncomfortable. Today, I waited for a colleague who had been caught up in traffic, while a staff member mopped the floor around me! She arrived at around 4.45pm. Her coffee was fine, but my Dictator was ice cold! When I complained they said that's how it was meant to be. sevred! At 5pm a young women came up to us and said: "we're closed." She walked off and collected the pillows from the chairs outside and dumped them on the seat next to me. One of them hit my arm, and she said "sorry" half-heartedly. I rep****: "my pleasure." I ushered my traffic-stressed colleague out as soon as she had gulped her coffee. I have never felt so unwelcome at one on your stores before. Pity.

Motherland coffee the Neighbourhood
Terrible Service, We ordered coffees and 5 breakfasts Waiter arrives with 4 of the meals and tells us the other will be arriving shortly it had not arrived by the time everyone had finished eating, I went to complain they had forgotten to even make it, No apologies no offer at recompense, A cashless system paying upfront , ensures they can treat you with disdain. Wont be going back to the Neighbourhood Motherland coffee Franchise.

Very upset customer .
The branch In Cavendish is not friendly at all or maybe it's because of my skin color. I think each customer deserves to be treated fairly as I am a regular customer always buying breakfast at the branch. If they don't know how to approach or deal with customers in the morning they shouldn't be working there at all! Bad for business.

NO MOTHER IN THE LAND
Went to the branch at the bottom of Conrad Drive in Johannesburg. What an unmitigated mess!! We ordered one small Cappuccino and one tall latte - received two small Cappuccinos but was charged for what was ordered - tried to bring it to the cashiers attention but nothing was going in. Another waitress had to come back to the table to check on what we had ordered because the initial server couldn't remember. When the drinks came we had to ask for sugar and a s**** - again a blank look - "you ant sugar?" This came on a serviette. We also ordered a muesli and Yoghurt and a single toast with cream cheese, avocado and a boiled egg. This took from order to delivery 40 minutes. When this arrived and I asked for salt - same thing "you want salt?" There were 6 staff members on duty, all behind the counter talking at the top of their voices making one hell of a racket but service - there was none. When - after I went to enquire where our food was - it eventually arrived the toast had actually gone cold and sticky. "Sorry for the delay - but there was one order before you". When we walked in there were two people in the restaurant both had been attended to. NEVER will I go to a Motherland again - clearly management doesn't give a damn about their business and I see this as a reflection on all branches. Absolutely unacceptable. When I did say something I got blank stares!

Blairgowrie Motherland should be Motherless land!!!
Second time here at the one in blairgowrie and I now remember why I never come here. Rude staff, no stock. Ridiculous!!!! You could be sitting on a gold mine here with the early morning athletes but like this it won't last long. Definitely not referring anyone here!

Blairgowrie Motherland should be Motherless land!!!
Second time here at the one in blairgowrie and I now remember why I never come here. Rude staff, no stock. Ridiculous!!!! You could be sitting on a gold mine here with the early morning athletes but like this it won't last long. Definitely not referring anyone here!
