5-Star Review for Zandile at Pedro’s Maponya I had an amazing experience at Pedro’s Maponya today, thanks to cashier Zandile. From the moment I got to her till point, she greeted me with a warm smile and was so patient, polite, and professional. She made sure everything was scanned correctly, explained the process clearly, and went out of her way to make sure I left happy. Even with the queue, she stayed friendly and kept a positive attitude the whole time. Zandile is a true example of excellent customer service. Staff like her make me want to come back to Pedro’s again and again. Please recognize her for the great work she’s doing! Thank you Zandile 🙏

I ordered food on 24 May for delivery and when I received my order there was chips missing. I contacted the store and they told me that they would deliver it within the hour but its two days later and I still haven't received my chips. This is not the first time this has happened. I thought the first time was an honest mistake but clearly they are dishonest. Please don't support them, they ***** your hard earned money.

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding a very upsetting experience my family and I had with your Pedro’s Pavilion branch, both in relation to a food poisoning incident and the way the matter was handled by the store manager, Ronald. Recently, my husband became extremely ill after consuming a half chicken with rice purchased from your store. He experienced severe diarrhea and other symptoms consistent with food poisoning. We took him to the doctor, who confirmed that it was suspected food poisoning based on his symptoms. This was a very distressing experience for our family. Following this, the store manager, Ronald, contacted me regarding the complaint. During our conversation, I was shocked and disturbed when he suggested that I should have collected a stool sample from my husband while he was suffering from diarrhea in order to prove that the food had caused the illness. I found this request completely unreasonable, inappropriate, and insensitive. As a customer dealing with a family member who was unwell, I would not have known or expected that I needed to collect such evidence. Ronald also repeatedly denied that the chicken could have been the cause, stating that they had received no other complaints, despite my husband clearly displaying symptoms and being medically assessed. Another concern was his insistence that I did not have proof of purchase because I could not provide the original receipt. While I understand that I no longer had the receipt, I clearly showed him proof of payment on my bank statement, confirming that we had purchased the meals from the Pedro’s Pavilion branch. Despite this valid proof, he still seemed unwilling to acknowledge it, which added to my frustration and disappointment. The only solution initially offered was a replacement of my husband’s meal. Over the weekend, I decided to give Pedro’s another chance, although my husband understandably refused to eat from the store again due to his experience. We had originally ordered both a half chicken with rice for him and chicken strips with rice for myself. After my husband became ill, I discarded my own meal as well because I was too worried to eat it. When I called to arrange collection of the replacement meals, Ronald informed me that only my husband’s meal would be replaced and that my meal would not. I found this unfair, considering I had also thrown away my food due to safety concerns. I was not asking for additional free food—I simply requested that my chicken strips meal be replaced with a Viva meal instead. When I questioned this, Ronald imp**** that I was being greedy and only wanted free food, which I found deeply insulting. As a regular Pedro’s customer, I felt disrespected and unfairly judged. To make matters worse, he informed me that it was his day off and abruptly ended the call, which I found highly unprofessional and rude. I am extremely disappointed, not only by the food safety issue but also by the dismissive and disrespectful manner in which my complaint was handled. As loyal customers, we expected better treatment and greater care from your staff, especially management.

I am writing to formally complain about the poor service and disrespectful attitude I received from the manager at your Silverton branch. During my visit, I was disappointed by the way I was treated. The manager was rude, unprofessional, and unwilling to assist me properly. Instead of handling the situation respectfully and helping resolve my concerns, their attitude made the experience uncomfortable and frustrating . Kind regards, Mrs Maboate

I’m disappointed with the repeated poor service from Pedros. I requested that my meat be cut in half, but once again it was cut into 8 pieces instead. This same issue happened on 8 January and again on 24 April, both of which I reported. Different managers called to apologize, yet the problem keeps happening. A simple request should not be this difficult to follow. Pedros Eastrand Mall needs to improve their processes or remove the cutting options if they cannot be followed correctly.

DO NOT, I Repeat DO NOT waste your time reporting a complaint to head office/customer care. The employees I've dealt with lack simple logic and if you want to be irritated with foolishness then kindly contact them. Bottom line they do not compensate you if you don't return the goods, agree to this and if its a policy then all good and well. HOWEVER their has to be a rare occasion where a concession/waiver has to be granted and a compensation given thereof where its beyond the customers control to bring back the goods in questions for valid reasons. In any case, i contacted head office only to speak to a soft spoken lady but this lady lacks logic when I presented her with a scenario. I said, what happens if the product has worms, should I now keep these works in my cupboard/fridge with all the other products and then return it to the store the next day, this clown says YES she will keep this product in her cupboard with the worms. Listen, logic is something you cannot teach but how do big brands like these employ *********** people. Listen we learn everyday something new but come on, keep maggots in your cupboard knowingly and then show the Pedros store manager the next day. I honestly what nonsense is happening in the Pedros stores. I'm almost certain we are eating thing that may have fallen on the floor, flies sat on, sneezed on our meals unintentionally and so forth. And the reason I say this, if the customer service employee can make a statement like this, what do you expect from a junior employee. Oh and by the way, my product was raw and served to me, the employee that contacted me acknowledged they had new staff but assured me they will be re-trained. So who's going to compensate me for my meal that had to be thrown away. I don't earn a salary for free.
