What a frustrating and utterly ********* place. Feline Cuisine sachets, 12 pack, on the shelf, marked and priced, R129,99. Took two boxes. Got to the till, does not scan. Manager comes, “We don’t sell it in the box. The price on the shelf is wrong”. Is this how you get to become so big? Deliberately pricing things and “ advertising “ it and then want the customers to pay per individual unit and not the box as priced. It was evident that they had no interest in resolving the matter, just a, don’t care attitude. Unacceptable. (Please don’t try to phone me to explain or apologise, not interested, you are wrong. Contact by email only)
Bought an item through the online shop. Paid, got a notification that the item was sent to the courier and then nothing. Delivery time came and went. Then, on the tracking, note that order was cancelled. No emails, no messages, no notifications, nothing. Is this what Makro online is? Ridiculous.
Had a haircut at Menlyn Maine, usual spot. When paying I had to pay an additional charge because this barber hat his own price and does not charge the standard rates. He did mutter something about a master something but I just wanted to pay and get out before I said something not so nice. I don’t care how well you are or think you qualified, the advertised price is the advertised price. Imagine landing in Cape Town after a flight and being charged an additional levy because the Pilot that flew the aircraft had a higher qualification that the average pilot.
I love ordering from Takealot, especially using the pickup points. If you order something that is in stock, it takes no more than two days and it’s here, sometimes even the next day. However, Takealot changed. I ordered as usual and was given an option, pay R60 extra for delivery in two days or wait two weeks. Free delivery is after all not so free anymore. All it’s s were in stock in JHB, so no excuses there. It’s clear Takealot got to big and we seriously need competition. I wanted to order more things but will rather order from someone else. This is a clear choice by Takealot, pay for the free delivery to get your order in the usual time otherwise we will send your products when it suits us. They obviously don’t want our support anymore. I’m really disappointed. A company that got their act together wrt deliveries now throw it all away. Disgraceful.
Bought some camping stuff at Checkers Hyper at Menlyn. It was marked 15% off with the savings card. On the slip however it was R10 off. Lodged a complaint online, got an automated response with reference (27/11/21). No further response. Lodged a complaint about the lack of response and again automated response (12/12/21) and still no further response. Seems to me Checkers is just not interested in responding to ripping off their customers. Thanks Checkers.
Deciding to replace my kitchen appliances I thought it prudent to buy a new Samsung double door fridge with a water and ice dispenser, a new dishwasher and a combination washer and dryer. All Samsung because of design and function. I bought the dishwasher, a DW60M5060FS as the first purchase. Two weeks later, it broke. Three week after that, Samsung decided that as they don’t have stock to replace or to fix the dishwasher that it must be returned to the place of purchase. They, without even hesitating, made it my problem to now return the product. No attempt even on providing a service for their defective product. So, be aware, Samsung will make it your problem to replace or return a large product like a dishwasher. Because of this poor service, extremely long wait for a decision and not showing any real concern to support their product I will definitely not be replacing any items with Samsung. Really disappointed.
Fibre is available in my neighbourhood, just not for us living in the complex. I applied for fibre through MWeb and an OpenServe technician arrived and after 10 min said that yes, fibre is available at the complex gate but cannot be installed to my unit as it is to difficult and expensive, and promptly left never to be seen again. So much for SA moving into a fast reliable digital era for all. Thanks for digging up our gate entrance OpenServe and then not supplying us with fibre. Think their licence should be given to a company that can provide the required infrastructure to all.

iCare Scam

When you buy your iPhone, the retailer will promise the world if you include an iCare Plus Protection Plan. They will even swop your iPhone for a new one if it is accidentally damaged for a fee of R1000. No problem as long as you don't try to claim. What they don't tell you is that you first have to make an appointment with them and then they will send your iPhone away. Your iPhone will only be replased in "maybe 7 to 10 days, it depends". You can get a "loner phone, if we have any avaiable". When you go and read the Terms and Condisions carefully, no mention is made of this and also they will not tollerate informal discussion on the matter.

Reading through the complaints on this forum, I am not the only one caught by this scam (...and loner phones seems to be more difficult to find than chicken teeth). Why must I wait for a new iPhone to be delivered. The retailer can give me a new iPhone and wait for Apple to send him a replacement iPhone, it is called service, a rare concept with Apple Retailers in South Africa.

It is time Apple either froce i-Store SA to improve service or close them down.

iCare don't Care

Francois Smith
