I purchased a phone from Takealot that turned out to be faulty and network-blocked. I submitted a return claim, fully expecting a replacement or refund. Now, Takealot is refusing to process my claim simply because I no longer have the charging cable. This is completely unacceptable. The issue isn’t the charger—it’s that the device they sold was not fit for purpose. A missing accessory should never prevent a refund or replacement when the product itself is faulty. I trusted Takealot to sell me a legitimate device. Instead, I’m being penalized for their mistake. I’ve lost all trust in buying devices from them. I’m demanding a full refund. Buyer beware: Takealot will try to shift responsibility and find any reason to avoid refunding faulty products.
I am very disappointed with the service I received at Fruit Stop Gezina . I am a regular customer and the level of service I experienced recently was not what I have come to expect from this store. The cashier who assisted me was extremely unfriendly. She did not greet me at all, and when it was time to pay, instead of speaking to me or giving basic instructions, she simply pointed at the card machine. It felt dismissive and quite insulting. Basic courtesy like greeting customers and communicating politely should be standard in any customer-facing role. This interaction made me feel unwelcome, which is disappointing because I have always had pleasant experiences at Fruit Stop before. I hope management addresses this because customer service plays a big role in whether people want to return.
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a cellphone I purchased from Takealot in November 2024, which I paid for in full (cash purchase). On 12 February 2026, I was informed by MTN that the device has been blacklisted, making it unusable on any mobile network. I have since confirmed that the IMEI of the device has been blocked due to it being reported as lost/****** or linked to irregular activity. This situation is completely unacceptable. I purchased this phone in good faith from Takealot, a reputable retailer, and I have now been left with a device that is effectively worthless through no fault of my own. Upon further investigation, I have discovered that multiple customers are reporting the exact same issue, with devices purchased around the same period being blacklisted at the same time. This strongly suggests a supply-chain or seller-related problem, and not an isolated incident. In terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, consumers are entitled to goods that are: • Of good quality • In good working order • Fit for purpose • Free of defects and not misrepresented A blacklisted cellphone does not meet these legal requirements.
I purchased a bicycle for my son from Makro – Wonderboom,Pretoria, on 21 December 2025. It was the last floor model and already assembled in-store. Less than a month later, while my son was riding it, the pedal fell off. The bicycle was taken back for repairs. After the repair, the same pedal fell off again. This is clearly a safety issue and could seriously injure a child. Despite this, Mr Sipho Mcabinde is now claiming that the problem is due to “wear and tear.” I find this unacceptable — a bicycle pedal should not fail twice within one month of purchase under normal use, especially for a child. Under the Consumer Protection Act, this appears to be a defective product or improper assembly, not wear and tear. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of accountability and the ongoing run-around from staff. I am requesting a full refund, as I no longer trust the safety of this bicycle. Parents should not have to worry about their children being injured due to faulty products!!!!
Excellent service and great communication. I felt supported and well advised throughout. Thank you Keelin Govinder!
I am utterly DISGUSTED with the service that I've been receiving from Vodacom. I want to do an upgrade but according to them my credit score is at 420 where in actual fact it's at 650. It's been at 450 at their side for months now! This is preventing me from getting the device of my choice just because they are not on par with my score according to Experian. I feel like cancelling and taking my business elsewhere!
i simply can NOT understand how pathetic their service is! put in an insurance claim on 22.02.2019 and have not received ANY feedback yet, i can't even get through to the insurance. nobody ever answers. what the hell is going on
Rudi-Jo Le Roux I am so fed up with your empty promises. Please can someone competent get back to me regarding my issue with Vodacom
Utterly disgusted with the service (or lack thereof) that I'm receiving from Vodacom. Cancelled contracts in Feb 2018, paid off in full and still getting debited after sending all docs and proof of payment to them as requested. So dissapointed in the whole brand who does not seem to care at all about their customers and who's only interested in exploiting us!!!!!
