I had a terrible experience with this agency. Everything was fine when I moved in. Invoices always received on time, agent very quick to respond when contacted, updates given proactively, etc. The problem started after my lease ended and my dealings with this agency were meant to come to a conclusion. First, during the outgoing inspection there were attempts to pass off maintenance work (painting the walls and door frames) and repair of a sink that was never functional as damages deductible from my deposit. They also mentioned I would be responsible for “repairs” to regular minor wear and tear, together with paying for a “professional cleaning” which noted separately to specific stains. It read more like a renovation than a post-exit reconciliation. Then there was the huge issue of actually getting the deposit back - I was told it would be refunded after the “repairs,” then it was mentioned they were waiting for the final sign-off until a month later I started being more stern about it and was told it would be refunded by the end of the following week. On the Friday morning, I was shockingly but unsurprisingly contacted by the agent not with confirmation of the deposit being processed but rather with new claims of issues affecting the deposit amount e.g “paint” stains on tiles (we never at any point painted any part of the unit - we only stayed a year). While I had initially given them the benefit of the doubt thinking it’s an administrative delay, it was at this point my guy told me I had been swindled. As I type this, I still have not received my money (even minus all the so-called repairs), the agent has stopped responding to my messages and the latest update from the director is now “it will be paid next week”
Very unprofessional. I experienced a general lack of communication and an inability to follow through on commitments or manage expectations from this company. I kept having to call them to follow up on progress and each time promises were made to no avail. Meeting requests were sent on short notice with no prior communication on time and/or venue. “We have other cases too so we don’t have time” is not an excuse. Don’t take on more work than you can deliver on. (To be fair, I wasn’t the one paying for the service but they definitely fall short in professionalism. The person I spoke to on the phone even had the actual client’s name wrong)
I signed up for medical aid in September, to become active starting October 1st. Premiums paid up but I am still unable to access it because I cannot use the app, my app doesn't even recognise me as a client. Call centre said it was an issue with a "entity merge which will be sorted shortly." to this day this has not been rectified despite me paying my premiums.
Currently unable to get any response from my advisor David Jamieson for over a week now. I asked for forms to withdraw on my policy and he said he would send them through. A week and 3 follow up emails later, I am still waiting.
Great discounts. A good way to discover some local gems
Used to be a great business until they started expandiung beyond what they could manage. I ordered a TV stand on the 25th of May 2020 which was delivered damaged on the 29th of May 2020. I logged an exchange and they said the collection would take place simultaneously with delivery of the replacement item on the 5th of June. Today is the 10th of June and as we speak my TV sits on the floor. Emailed them and was "assisted" by Danielle Peters who has since started ignoring my emails and Dawn Petersen who said she will escalate and provide feedback. She too has started ignoring my follow-up emails. The inconvenience is ridiculous and the fact that they won't even be bothered to communicate is dissapointing. 5+ years using Takealot and I've noticed the gradual decline in customer service. L
Strong local presence but falls short in comparison to ther service providers. Took me a week of back and forth with them just to set up an account. Apparently they don't accept scanned copies of ID, they want you to take a pgoto of the ID with a cellphone (yes, really) Managed to sign up with WorldRemit, validate my ID and send the money within minutes. The recepient had the cash in hand just over an hour later.
Pathetic service at Cavendish Square. Took time out of my day to apply for an phone contract and just had my time wasted. Backstory - I am a foreign nation with a valid visa for SA (3+ years left on it). I currently work as a software engineer for a top company, listed on the London Stock Exchange. The company has local registration so I receive my salary into my SA bank account, pay tax through SARS, etc just like a normal local worker. Our operational units however, are all based in London. Issue - I walked into the branch, gave all my documents and they sent the documents for processing. First, I was told they cannot accept me on contract because the company I work for is "not internationally recognised." I explained that this is a LSE-listed company, known worldwide and that I also have tax returns to prove all this then they went back and came back saying they need a phone number to proceed. I gave them the number for our HR office in the UK and they came back to me saying it "wasn't going through." I told them I'll wait until it does. Again they went to the back and came back saying "we need a local number because our policy says so." I explained that there is no local number for HR but I do have a line manager in SA and they said no, it has to be an HR person. I tried and tried explaining that we are an international company with people in 20+ locations but central operations in London but still walked out with no assistance. Store manager was rude, refused to identify himself and I ended up going to the iStore after wasting an hour on people who clearly had decided not to serve me from the start. I asked to open a case or have an issue logged and the manager rudely said "you can go on social media."
Never a disappointing experience with Takealot. I like that they split my order into multiple delivery dates if one or more of the items take unnecessarily long to source.
Queues are typically long and service turnaround generally long, however I think what they lack in delivery they make up for in affordability.
